Bracito de Oro unmasked, Polvora/Garza win Gran Alternativa, lineup

CMLL (FRI) 04/30 Arena Mexico [SuperLuchas, @cmllmagazine, Cesar, Luchas2000]
1) Leono & Starman b Bronco & Inquisidor
2) Fuego & Metro b Euforia & Raziel
3) Dark Angel, Lady Apache, Luna Mágica b Hiroka, Mima Shimoda, Princesa Blanca
4) Pequeño Warrior b Bracito de Oro [mask]
5) Héctor Garza & Pólvora b Delta & Volador Jr. [Gran Alternativa, final]
6) Dragón Rojo Jr., Shigeo Okumura, Taichi, Último Guerrero b Hijo del Fantasma, La Máscara, Místico, Strong Man

Mini Warrior took the first, Bracito de Oro took the second, and Warrior won the third with a urange. Bracito de Oro, who had his family with him after the match, is Roberto Rodriguez Aguirre, 46 years old, 25 years a wrestler, originally from Oaxaca. Given his age and his level of use before this feud, this might be it for him. Bracito did says in interviews that this was’t the end of his career, but no one ever does.

Brazo de Oro was his mini’s cornerman in this match, and was warned for getting involved in the third fall (Sangre Azteca worked the rudo corner.) Brazo de Oro is on quite the bad streak of late: losing his hair match in Guadalajara, cornering his son to a loss in a title match on Tuesday, and cornering his mini to a loss here.

Gran Alternativa final was a three falls match. Delta & Volador had team masks that looked Super Sky Team-ish. Rudos took the first, tecnicos took the second, and the third fall seemed quite long on radio. After Volador accidentally dropkicked a referee, Polvora fouled Volador and picked up the pinfall. No 1 on 2 comeback for Delta on this night, as Garza & Polvora pinned him with a super faceslam. In the last year, Polvora has gone from being stuck in the opening match to winning Tigre Blanco’s mask and this tournament.

Main event did not start until 11:20pm local, later than they end the shows many nights. Probably as a result, it was a quick match – straight falls to the rudos, and quick ones at that. Ultimo Guerrero & Dragon Rojo got pins on Strong Man & Mistico in the first, and Taichi & Okumura got pins on Mascara & Fantasma in the second. After the match, the Japanese challenged Mascara & Fantasma to a trios title match. The third team member would be Hiroshi Tanahashi, due on next Friday’s show.

Top 3 matches went all to the rudos sides. It makes sense for where they’re going (though you may argue with that on the Gran Alternativa) but it’s an odd deal to do on Kid’s Days.

Ras de Lona has an interview with Estrella Blanca, but I think that’s just random.

Sombra’s being positioned as the defender of CMLL, but that’s beat by the interview segement of the  crazed lunatic invaders – Psicosis, Histeria, Maniaco, Alebrije and Cuije being insane, hanging from the ceiling and breaking things. They want us to call them the Independents, but that’s not catchy. They actually introduce all the guys, so you know who they are even if you don’t know who they are. Alebrije insists he’s still a tecnico, but the indepedent guys are sticking together. No sign of Monsther, so that may have just been a one time deal.

Also, CMLL’s going to Guatemala soon, with a loaded roster (Mistico, Garza, Ultimo Guerrero, Terrible, Texano are involved.)

Also, Kid Luchadors.

Al Filo del Ring is excited for the AAA vs IWRG matches.

Cesar looks at this week’s CMLL lineups; at least the ones that are posted so far.

The Gladiatores has an interview with IWRG referee Yudi.

DJ Spectro looks back at Flama Solar beating Solitario in straight falls back in 1977.

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update and 20 to 10 on the top 100 countdown of 2009.

As set up this part Thursday. Will be interesting to see how this goes. Both Ultimo Gladiador and Cuervo got their starts here, but it’s been a long time since they’ve been back.

Dark Devil is an Arena Neza guy. When they actually run shows in Arena Neza.

CMLL (FRI) 05/07 Arena Mexico
1) Leono & Sensei vs Apocalipsis & Durango Kid
2) Pegasso, Rey Cometa, Rush vs Loco Max, Nitro, Skándalo

6) Héctor Garza, Hijo del Fantasma, La Máscara vs Hiroshi Tanahashi, Shigeo Okumura, Taichi [CMLL TRIOS]

Tanahashi is only in for a few weeks, but that trios is losing the belts soon. I have no idea how that’ll go. For what it’s worth, that wasn’t a title match when they put the lineups together for Ras de Lona.

Delta & Sombra & Volador seems like Super Sky Team 2.0, at least for one night.

CMLL (SUN) 05/09 Arena Coliseo
1) Camaleón & Metálico vs Apocalipsis & Cholo
2) Dalys la Caribeña, Lady Apache, Luna Mágica vs Amapola, Princesa Sujei, Seuxis

Opener had been listed as a mixed trios, but was switched to another woman’s match instead. Hijo de Tirantes quick counted the win for the rudas, and Piero ran out to argue. They agreed on a hair match for TripleMania – each side will pick 3 wrestlers, and the losing team’s ref will get their hair shaved. Wonder who’ll ref that match?

Billy & Decnnis lost due to unhelpful help from Hilario. Decnnis was annoyed and walked out on his partners after the match.

Daniels being a Legion aligned rudo was supposed to be a surprise, although it’s kind of exactly what you’d expect given the match. Rudos won with Daniels pinning champ Tiger (sets up the title match), then Daniels and Koslov turned on Lider. Tecnicos made the save.

The Legion team had the Psycho Circus beat, but got themselves DQ for using outside objects.

In between the fourth and fifth match, LA Park came to the ring to accept La Parka Jr.’s challenge for TripleMania. No stipulation was announced, but Park still gets to choose that at some point. Park said he was glad to be back home and he shouldn’t never left AAA, but it was the only way he could get his contract with WCW (which I guess was more important than his home.)

Silver King pinned Pimpinela in the WagnerManiacos vs WagnerManiacos battle. After the match, and apparently in a world where AAA hasn’t already announced Wagner vs Electro for TripleMania, Wagner challenged Electroshock to a title match at TripleMania. Electro demanded Wagner earn the shot by facing him in a singles match on the next show (05/19.)

Main event had no apparent result. Most of the match was LA Park beating up La Parka Jr. Konnan was at ringside, and Nicho was angry with him over the attack on Lider earlier, spitting at him. Alex Koslov ran out to Nicho for that, Joe Lider ran out to attack Koslov, and the rest of the Legion ran out to beat both Hermandad members. Meanwhile, security separated both of the Parkas (not sure why). This left Zorro & Hijo de Tirantes with Cibernetico & Heavy Metal. The tecnicos took out the referee, then Zorro. Vampiro ran down to save Zorro, and they teased Vampiro vs Cibernetico for TripleMania. That’d be 8 shades of awful, but I don’t know what else they do with those two guys.
