Early Kid’s Day show, promoted by the leader of the tecnico fan section in Arena Mexico, and honoring Tony Salazar. The tournament is full of current CMLL trainees, and it seems appropriate that those two teams were the final. I just like the team of Metro, Rush, and SUPER CAMALEON. How many people would have to get lost on the way to the arena to get that one on a real show? And would he finally get on Ras de Lona if it happened?

The AAA story of the day (repeated all over the place; I’ll pick LuchandoLibre for the link) is Vampiro declaring he doesn’t like Konnan and wants no part of any group Konnan is in. Konnan’s said likewise, and it’s apparent AAA is heading towards at least two separate rudo groups (the Legion, and Dorian’s army of Park & Vamp), and maybe possible feuding groups of invaders. Hooray? For the love of all that’s good in the world, please don’t let this be setting up another Konnan vs Vampiro singles match (or a Konnan/Dorian match!) Vamp explained he’s with Dorian because Dorian cared about him when he wasn’t doing well, and Dorian represents the true vision of Antonio Pena’s AAA.

I hope this is being explained on TV, and not just in random press releases. They have been doing well in explaining things on TV of late.

CMLL lead programmer Panico talked to Notimex about recent events. Panico says the doors to CMLL are always open to quality wrestlers. The ex-AAA guys are rudos, and Panico, as a former wrestler, thought about the situation from their perspective, understood why they ran in, and decided to give them some matches to prove they’re of CMLL quality. Panico seemed to blame the lack of a Mistico/Volador conclusion on the participants involved, saying they had moved away from each other since Dos Leyendas and that happens sometimes. There’s a great, if depressing, list of highly pushed rivalaries over the last few years which failed to get to an apuesta match to end the article.

Brazo de Plata: still not a fan of rudo/bossy Hector Garza. Porky’s weight loss is now at 50 KG (110 lb), and Porky mentions Garza has been helping Strong Man, La Mascara, Volador and Mistico with their physical fitness. HMMMMM. Anyway, Porky theorizes Hector is just jealous, because the ladies love a slimmed down Super Porky.

For his part, Hector Garza tells Fuego en el Ring that he’s still a tecnico, just one who’s had some misunderstandings of late, and seems to be surrounded by ungrateful people who don’t realize how much Hector Garza made them into stars and could easily do the same for other people if they don’t settle down. All you need to know about luchador’s knowledge of their own schedule: this interview was clearly done this week, and Garza is shocked to find out he’s booked on Sunday in GDL with Fantasma and Mascara.

Exterminador, fresh off beating Ebola for his hair for a third time, wants to win the Occidente Light Heavyweight Championship next.

AAA will have lucha matches at this year’s E3 expo in Las Vegas, June 15-17. It’s being billed as a tournament to decide who will be on the cover of the video game (with announcers there to call the action.) I haven’t been told this or anything, but surely La Parka Jr. is ending up on that cover.

Dos de Tres says AAA will be taping 05/19 in Actopan, Hidalgo, and 05/22 in Torreon. Last time they were in Torreon (2008), they ran the bullring, but that may change this time. They haven’t run a taping in Actopan since 1996, but have run in Arena Actopan in recent years. One more taping to announce.

Super Crazy & BUSHI won the All Japan Junior Tag League earlier today.

Estrellas del Ring has an interview with Pirata Morgan and Hijo.

Te Das o Te Rindes has an interview with Rain.

Cronicas Y Leyendas looks back at Samurai Shiro’s second worst day in Mexico, when Satanico took his hair. (Sagrado breaking Shiro’s face is slightly worse.)

Rob checks out 09/01/09 CMLL and 08/27/09 IWRG.

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update.

Lineup

CMLL (TUE) 05/04 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Thunder Boy vs In Memoria
2) Idolo & Magnum vs Acertijo & Infierno
3) Gallo, Metal Blanco, Palacio Negro vs Exterminador, Malefico, Mr. Trueno
4) La Máscara vs Averno
5) Brazo de Plata, Máximo, Toscano vs Asesino Negro, Terrible, Texano

No idea why Mascara & Averno are having that singles match. Porky/Negro continues to lurch towards a conclusion.

  1. That tournament looks AMAZING! I live for random shows with trainees. I’m stunned Arizona, Sakura and Cyber Black are still around. WHERE’S ZETA & YIDRA?!?!?!?!?!

The fact there is a Sakura II blows my mind! Hopefully some video of this show turns up (I know, it won’t).

Konnan vs Vampiro in 2010. LMAO @ both. Only thing funnier than that was reading in the WON that Vamp wanted one last run on top as a rudo. Yeah… one last run. We’ll be hearing that until 2020 or so. Cien Caras wanted one last run on top when he joined AAA in 1992.

  2. WBC announced “No Mexican fighters in Arizona” beginning Saturday. AAA should announce that they are boycotting Arizona, and see if anyone picks the story up.
