Puebla, ex-AAA invade GDL and to wrestle in Puebla, Mascara/Mephisto

CMLL (MON) 04/19 Arena Puebla [Fuego en el Ring]
1) Akron & Ares b King Jaguar & Lestat
2) Eléctrico, Fantasy, Shockercito b Pequeño Nitro, Pequeño Universo 2000, Pierrothito
3) Cancerbero, Euforia, Pólvora b Fuego, Metro, Stuka Jr.
4) Máscara Dorada, Strong Man, Volador Jr. DQ Felino, Taichi, Último Guerrero
5) Brazo de Plata, La Máscara, La Sombra b Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto

UG fouled Strong Man again. That will never end.

CMLL (TUE) 04/20 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [Fuego en el Ring]
1) Leo b Virgo
2) El Divino & Magnum b Acertijo & Ángel del Mal
3) Ebola & Neutrón ?? Exterminador & Gallo [Relevos Increíbles]
4) Misterioso II & Sangre Azteca b Palacio Negro & Valiente
5) Dragón Rojo Jr., Felino, Texano b Brazo de Plata, Hijo del Fantasma, Toscano

After the rudos won the main event – Texano sneaking in a foul on Toscano – the Viper & Alebrije made another surprise attack. They sure get around.

Not 0nly are Ebola & Exterminador feuding, but they’re near having a hair match. Didn’t get a finish for that match.

PdM (TUE) 04/20 Arena Queretaro [Estrellas del Ring]
1) Dark Saint b Galaxi
2) El Blanco & Fuego Latino b Lince & Rey Aztlan
3) Drabek I & Drabek II DQ Alex Guajardo & Ursus [Queretaro TAG]
4) Leo b Sexy Diva and Medussa
5) X-Fly b C. Manson
6) Damián 666, el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Halloween b El Hijo Del Santo, Hijo de LA Park, Hijo del Lizmark

Would not be surprised if this turned up on TV at some point. X-Fly/Charly was the usual match. Santo had the main event won, but Damian yanked his mask up and got the pin with a fast count.

CMLL (TUE) 04/20 Arena Mexico [@cmllmagazine, CMLL.com]
1) Apocalipsis & Disturbio b Bengala & Camaleón
2) Dr. X, Hooligan, Nitro DQ Fabián el Gitano, Horus, Starman
3) Bam Bam, Eléctrico, Pequeño Olímpico b Pequeño Nitro, Pequeño Universo 2000, Pierrothito
4) Máximo, Rush, Sagrado b Nosferatu, Taichi, Vangelis
5) Héctor Garza, La Máscara, La Sombra DQ Ephesto, Mephisto, Terrible

Garza had some issues with his team, but they still won in straight falls. Mephisto yanked off Mascara’s mask for the DQ. Mascara challenged for his welterweight title and Mephisto accepted. If they do the match, it’ll be the first known defense of a NWA title in CMLL since Blue Demon declared them all vacant.

Olimpico pinned Pierrothito in the minis match.

Dr. X yanked Fabian’s mask for the second match DQ. Fabian made the mask challenge, but Nitro said if Fabian was challenging one Tuareg, he was challenging all of them. This is going to a 40 man cage match.

Dos de Tres says Mesias underwent shoulder surgery on Tuesday, and has an 80% chance of returning in time for TripleMania.

Over in NJPW, the current IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team champions Apollo 55 (Taguchi and Prince Devitt) have vacated their titles due to inactivity. They’re still sticking together as a team, but Mascara Dorada and Valiente pulling a first round upset over them in the 05/08 Super J Tag Team tournament seems a lot more possible now. That tournament is now for the tag titles, and Dorada & Valiente could always win those belts and lose them back in Mexico. Not very likely, but a better chance than before.

Cronicas Y Leyendas looks at Santo thinking about passing down his mask.

Kcidis draws an invasion.

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update.

CMLL (MON) 04/26 Arena Puebla
1) Tigre Rojo & Tigre Rojo Jr. vs Siki Ozama Jr. & Toro Bill Jr.
2) Metálico, Tigre Blanco, Tony Rivera vs Artillero, Mortiz, Súper Comando
3) Ángel de Oro, Ángel de Plata, Guerrero Maya Jr. vs Arkangel de la Muerte, Hooligan, Nitro
4) Blue Panther, Strong Man, Toscano vs Atlantis, Terrible, Último Guerrero
5) Hijo del Fantasma, La Máscara, La Sombra vs Gran Alebrije, Histeria II, Psicosis II

Obviously, the big news here is the debut of Tigre Rojo Jr….

Also, the Vipers get in the ring for the first time!

9 thoughts to “Puebla, ex-AAA invade GDL and to wrestle in Puebla, Mascara/Mephisto”

  1. So has anything come out of the AAA camp about this Vipers in Puebla thing? Did the invasion thing even air on Puebla TV?

  2. @Tim: It definitely aired on this weeks Puebla TV and they ran a clip of it on the main program (Noticias section) this last weekend as well. Which, now that I think about it, means that the ex-AAA contingent has already appeared on Televisa.

  3. @Tim: It did air, AAA’s not said anything (though the Parka speech was an obvious public attempt to declare they still own the names). Perros haven’t said anything, which is more mysterious.

  4. Given the number of places these guys have shown up, are we sure they aren’t under CMLL contract? Also, their showing up on CMLL shows (regardless of whether or not they are under contract) makes it quite a bit less likely that any of them are losing their mask in Tijuana I’m guessing.

  5. @Alan: That’s right. I didn’t think of that, so it blows my theory out of the water. Kind of, anyway.

Let’s see if Televisa let’s them actually wrestle on tv, or waits for the inevitable Roldan holding up a piece of paper saying he owns the names.

  6. @LLL: I think it is hard to guess if the Perros will work with either of the big two promotions this year. My current bet would be no, but there should be some interesting clues over the next few months.

In terms of AAA, everything I’ve seen or heard recently indicate that there are not many good feelings between the two organizations. Has Park worked any PdM shows since he showed up in AAA? I’m not sure, but I think the only show he was booked on was Mexicali, so we don’t have any real indication. The next show I’ve seen him listed on is Tijuana, so we should have an indication at that point. His working the show doesn’t necessarily mean anything, but if he is not there, then it seems like a sign that either AAA or PdM don’t want him working both sides (even though it would play into the AAA angle if he worked the show). He isn’t booked for the May 2nd show where the lineup was announced after he showed up in AAA. Given Masked Republic’s involvement with the show, that seems a little suspicious.

For CMLL, we’ll see if the Vipers and others work the cage match on the first. My best guess right now is that all the workers are telling the Perros that they will be there. It is better for the angle (and CMLL) if it looks like they are really outsiders. The Perros being quiet about it makes me think that they are hedging their bets, hoping that everyone shows up and works the show as planned, but maybe they aren’t too confident in that after their experiences with Wagner and Ciber last year. If everyone shows up, then maybe this experience becomes a test run for an eventual PdM invasion later in the year? I don’t think that is the plan right now, but plans can change.

And finally, in terms of overall expectations for the Perros, I think it will be interesting to see what happens with the Masked Republic situation. I’m guessing they are paying something decent for the show on the 2nd, so if that relationship continues it would seem less likely that the Perros would need to work with AAA or CMLL this year. MR is supposedly doing a tour and more PPVs as the year goes on, so if the relationship continues that would be a decent source of income for the PdM promotion. If they worked out a licensing deal for Perros merchandise, that could be even better. If things don’t work out and the Perros business drops off in general, then clearly there would be an increased likelihood of them working with someone else.

  7. @Alan: Yea, they have to be under contract; they’re not making the trip all the way out to GDL for free. It’s almost certainty a per night deal, since most ‘CMLL’ guys are usually under the same, but there’s some vague plan here. They’re probably not exclusive, but it’d be interesting to see if they turn up on not just Perros shows (which may not be a big deal) but on Santo shows (which seem to still be – or maybe the whole Mascarita Dorada situation forced a whole big rethink? Thinking too hopefully there.)

Much as he likes to talk (and people like to listen) Park seems to have mostly stopped working with the Perros. He did work one show with them in Nuevo Laredo, but that might just because it was a short trip. It’ll be interesting to see if he makes the full Perros show in SLP next Wednesday, but I bet he’ll be winding down with them for the time being.

Perros being quiet is strange. I would’ve figured Damian or Perro would be out in front of the press talking about how great independent luchadors are, that they can wrestle for any promotion at any time, even if they weren’t actually involved in it. I’m thinking they don’t know what’s happening for sure themselves (actual problem with indepedent luchadors) and don’t want to be caught looking foolish.

As nice as it is at the moment for the Vipers/Alebrije/Monsther, they’ve got to be smart enough to know they can’t afford to burn bridges with anyone and surely must be making these Perros matches. No sense in losing the mask in Tijuana if you think might do it in Arena Mexico, but that means I have even less of an idea of what’s going on. Ultimately, if these guys can get in to CMLL full time (which would seem to be a bad idea for CMLL but whatever), they’d probably take that paycheck over the Perros bookings, but there’s no idea of the shelf life.

(Also, somewhere, Olimpico is trying to figure out how he can join AAA, quit AAA, and then join this faction to get back into CMLL.)

I agree that the 05/02 show is pretty pivotal to how the Perros go, maybe just on a morale basis than anything. They need a sense of accomplishment and progress (even if the booking isn’t high on those ideals.)

  8. It should be interesting if Alebrije shows up for the cage match at the 5/1 PERROS show. The rest of the guys(Vipers) haven’t been in PERROS shows in weeks. I wonder how long till they show up at the Tuesday Arena Mexico shows? Next week?
