Mistico is a tecnico (who the tecnicos hate), Averno gives Panther a beer, lineups

Luchas2000 has a twitter (being updated again), and a website (http://www.revistaluchas2000.com.mx/). The twitter mentions Cerebro Negro lost his hair to Fantasma de la Opera on this show.

AAA OCEANO (WED) 03/31 Cancha German Evers [Noroeste]

4) Mascarita Sagrada 2007 & Octagoncito ?? Mini Abismo Negro & Mini Amnesia
5) El Elegido, Gronda II, La Parka Jr.Cuervo, Escoria, Ozz

Title change! If you care about the NWG Extreme championship, and if you can figure out why Relampago got the match instead of the announced challenger (Kempo Dragon.) Shryu did not actually bring the belt so who knows.

CMLL (FRI) 04/02 Arena Mexico [OvacionesFuego en el RingCesarAlan]
1) Horus & MetálicoDisturbio & Durango Kid
2) Bracito de Oro, Eléctrico, Mascarita DoradaPequeño Nitro, Pequeño Warrior, Pierrothito
3) FuegoPólvora [lightning]
4) Averno, Ephesto, MephistoBlue Panther, Rush, Sagrado
5) Héctor Garza, Hijo del Fantasma, La MáscaraTaichi, Terrible, Texano Jr.
6) Brazo de Plata, La Sombra, Volador Jr.Felino, Místico, Negro Casas

Porky was wearing a Super Sky Team mask. Somewhere, Mascara Dorada sheds a tear.

Mistico did not get along with his teammates. So much so that when Volador got La Mistica on Mistico, Negro & Felino opted to let the tecnicos win and celebrate their loss rather than break it up. After the match, Mistico announced this whole rudo bit and feud with Volador was over, and he was going back to 100% tecnico. Volador disputed this, saying Mistico was a traitor and he would not accept Mistico back on the tecnico side or team with him. Neither the tecnicos or the rudos seem to want to do anything with Mistico right now, with the possible exception of Averno & friends.

Those guys were busy in the rest of the show. The CMLL Trios champs retained clean in the semimain, with no sign of a Garza turn. In the cuatro, Panther had Mephisto in the certain doom of the farmer’s roll, but Averno threw a beer in Blue Panther’s face, and Mephisto reversed into his own cradle for the win.

By all accounts, this was the return of the real Mascarita Dorada.

Is Fuego’s finish still called the Flashina? Not here, he used an armbar.

Atlantis is sick of Mistico switching between tecnico & rudo, because he’s misleading children.

SuperLuchas talks to Estrellita.

A poll on AAA’s site says fans prefer a La Parka/LA Park mask match over a name vs name battle. In this past week’s interview on F4Wonline, Dr. Lucha said AAA was expecting the poll to other way in hopes of making that the stip for TripleMania.

Cronicas Y Leyendas has Canek vs Ring Fujinami, with video.

Watching Ras de Lona while finishing this. Someone remembered they were supposed to push Sombra out of this mask match, so the episode is focused on an interview with him, as well as clips of a 2007 interview from the GdR shows (though not yet the bit where he randomly meets Negro Casas on the street.) Mascarita Dorada was on for a ten second clip where he said he was in Arena Mexico today, and who knows about tomorrow.

Lineups

CMLL (TUE) 04/06 Arena Mexico
1) Camaleón & Robin vs Cholo & Mortiz
2) Eléctrico, Pequeño Olímpico, Último Dragoncito vs Pequeño Nitro, Pequeño Warrior, Pierrothito
3) Delta, Fuego, Rush vs Cancerbero, Raziel, Virus
4) Máscara Dorada, Metro, Stuka Jr. vs Dragon Rojo Jr., Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca [MEX TRIOS]
5) La Sombra, Sagrado, Toscano vs Místico, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero

Ah, so they’ve decided – no Volador involved, Mistico is clearly a full time rudo. I’m glad that’s settled, and won’t change at all. (Really think they should’ve tried getting something out of Sagrado/Mistico earlier, wonder if they’ll do something here.)

They actually managed to get the entire trios champs together for a promo to hype up that title match. I was so happy. I fully expect them to continue to be the trios champs on Wednesday, and still not team up.

CMLL (FRI) 04/09 Arena Mexico
1) Astro Boy & Trueno vs Camorra & Inquisidor
2) Ángel Azteca Jr., Ángel de Oro, Ángel de Plata vs Euforia, Nosferatu, Pólvora
3) Valiente vs Sangre Azteca [lightning]
4) Blue Panther, Stuka Jr., Toscano vs Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto
5) Héctor Garza, Hijo del Fantasma, La Máscara vs Terrible, Texano Jr., Vangelis
6) La Sombra, Máscara Dorada, Místico vs Dragon Rojo Jr., Felino, Negro Casas

Ohhhhhhhh, screw you CMLL. (The idea is that Mistico is returning to the tecnico side here. And Sunday. But not Tuesday. Not that it’s going to work out so well, and I think I’m just talking about the finish to this match.) I love Dragon Rojo, I have no idea why he’s in that match. Maybe the Dorada/Rojo title match is coming to Arena Mexico?

Semimain answers the question: “Is Vangelis better than Taichi?” I don’t think Taichi is going to be happy with CMLL’s answer for that one. (My god, Vangelis could be three weeks away from being world champion of trios! If X-Fly wasn’t heavyweight champ, that would be astounding.)

Valiente vs Sangre is top 10 in greatest things ever to air on LATV. Not just lucha, anything ever.

CMLL (SUN) 04/11 Arena Coliseo
1) Bengala & Principe vs Disturbio & Semental
2) Fabián el Gitano, Molotov, Sensei vs Dr. X, Puma King, Tiger Kid
3) Lady Apache, Lluvia, Marcela vs Amapola, La Comandante, Princesa Sujei
4) Blue Panther, Sagrado, Toscano vs Dragon Rojo Jr., Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca
5) Brazo de Plata, Héctor Garza, Strong Man vs Atlantis, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero

Strong Man is back; and in MuscleMag (thanks Fredo). Poder Mexica teaming up twice in a week, someone in programming is clearly slipping. Puma & Tiger can’t escape Fabian!

AAA on Televisa #927 (02/27/2010)

Gimnasio Ignacio Manuel AltaMirano de la BUAP, Puebla, 02/05/2010

Mascarita Sagrada, Mini Charly Manson, Octagoncito vs Mini Abismo Negro, Mini Histeria, Mini Psicosis – this was not one of the better minis matches. They really tried to pack a lot in 7 minutes, but not a lot of it was good.

Atomic Boy, Lasser Boy, Zumbi vs Angel Mortal, Gran Apache, Mantra – well, no, not really, they couldn’t be bothered. It’s not so present here (because they only showed 15 seconds of it) seems a lot like when they brought back the Espectro de Ultratumba gimmick, made a big deal of picking exactly

If you ranked the Mysterious AAA Luchadors Who Are (almost) Never On AAA TV But May Be Secretly Awesome

1) Jesse
2) ZUMBI
3) Nemesis
6) Whoever’s the Chiva Rayada at spot shows now
4) Alebrije II
5) Argenis
LAST) Mantra

Atomic Boy would be #1 is technically on TV too often to count (by the rules I just made up), though it really could’ve been me in the suit this time and next for all the different it would’ve made. He’s been edited like crazy.

Amnesia, Black Abyss, Histeria, Psicosis vs Cuervo, Escoria, Espíritu, Ozz – we probably could save some time be adding the Vipers to that list. This was as complete a burial as you will ever see. The Vipers 2.0 were crushed for 5 minutes, didn’t really even get token offense, and then were pinned clean. This whole match astounded me when I saw it.

It seems like the same thing as Lasser Boy. They picked the guys to play these characters, they actually had plans for the characters, and then belatedly realized that they didn’t much like the guys after all. The blame is probably going on the Vipers for not being at the level they were expected to be, but it probably should really be on whoever is deciding on which people play which characters. We’ve all complained/mocked AAA’s talk about making bigger stars of existing wrestlers (“this is the year we’re going to push Laredo Kid!”), but they’re many times worse when it comes to completely new characters. Whether it’s a foreign person being brought in, or a new guy under an old gimmick, they’re never given any sort of introduction and often turn out not to be what AAA wanted to be.

Other points to make
– couldn’t they have just given Poder el Norte the gimmicks and saved us all some time?
– there’s circumstantial evidence to suggest this is the start of a Dark Family push (as sort of a replacement for the Vipers), but the last two years suggest not to believe this

Alan Stone, El Elegido, Pimpinela Escarlata vs Alex Koslov, Chessman, Zorro – Welcome back to TV, Alan! In this match, you’re a guy who’s not at the level of the Legion. Neither is Elegido, and Pimpi’s the only guy keeping your team in the match. (I look forward to seeing the big RFSMania main event of Alan & Chris vs Ogun & Groon!)

El Mesías, La Parka Jr., Latin Lover vs Dr. Wagner Jr., Electroshock, Silver King (and part 2) – Do you think Silver King ever looked to his side to see Electroshock on the road to the AAA championship, then looked across the ring to see he was feuding with La Parka Jr., and just hated his life immensely? I’m not worried about Dr. Wagner Jr., because I’m sure he believes he’s Global World Champion at all times, but not so much Silver King.
