Mascarita Dorada, tickets, lineups

According to this week’s SuperLuchas magazine, Mascarita Dorada has been let go from CMLL due to working (prohibited) Hijo del Santo shows. All he had to do was not eat the apple. Not exactly sure who owns the Dorada name – it is a mask Sagrada was using previously in AAA a couple times, but then CMLL probably wouldn’t have put someone in a Mascara Dorada gimmick if they didn’t own that one.

CMLL continues to low it’s limbo bar of ticket prices. Today, all kids get in free (to both Arena Coliseo DF and Guadalajara) and all tickets are 80 pesos and under for adults. They’re also expanding their 5 kids on 1 adult ticket to Guadalajara.

Looks like ACM had:

  • 03/02: Pirata Morgan & Sergio Romo Jr. b Diluvio Negro I & Diluvio Negro II
  • 02/28: Electroshock, Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr., Silver King b Black Warrior, El Mesías, La Parka Jr.

Just the 2 matches.

Cesar ranks the most likely to lose their mask on Dos Leyendas, and figures out who would lose each possible matchup. This reminded me of ESPN.com’s Draft Lottery machine, though I might have just insulted Cesar by comparing him to Chad Ford. Anyway, I think he’s underrated CMLL’s opinion of Volador Jr. and definitely believe he’d beat Felino if it came down to those two. The idea about the real feud here being Mistico vs Himself (or his evil self) is interesting, but I don’t think that’s a feud that resolves that quick. Felino/Mistico as rudo/rudo won’t work, and Mistico turning back tecnico makes this whole year so far a waste – if they really wanted to do Felino/Mistico at Anniversary show, they already had it set up before they turned Mistico.

Latest in Sean Morley Facebook excitement: his CMLL trip was canceled.

Cesar also talks about the situation around the Mexican Heavyweight Title, spinning it around into an indictment of the lucha libre press. I’ve gone back and forth with similar thoughts this week. On one hand, Charly/Perros/X-Fly all deserved to get their side of the story told; as weak as it was, it was good that those who wanted to got the chance to respond. At the same time, it shouldn’t have taken 3 days and an unrelated press conference to get that response and if it did, they shouldn’t have held of writing about it for 3 days (which it appeared every one did.)

Record has posted a teaser for their upcoming magazine interview of Mascara Ano 2000.

A Brusseles Fine Arts museum featured a lucha libre event. The wrestlers were 12-16 year olds, trained by a man from Congo. I dunno.

CMLL (SUN) 03/14 Plaza Voluntad del Acero, Lazaro Cardenas, Michoacan

2) Dark Angel & Marcela vs Amapola & Princesa Blanca

4) Ángel de Oro, Ángel de Plata, Canelo Casas vs Dragon Rojo Jr., Misterioso II, Scorpio Jr.
5) Héctor Garza, La Sombra, Místico vs Rey Bucanero, Terrible, Texano Jr.

they’ve got another big show to run. Not sure what the deal is with this show, but obviously bigger than usual. Scorpio Jr. & Canelo Casas working an otherwise all CMLL show (the tercera features guys they use a bit off TV for shows like this, but never on it) is interesting but may not actually mean anything.

I wonder where Valiente & La Mascara are? Sangre could use his old rivals.

  1. It’s strange that CMLL did not fire Mascarita Dorada and Pierrothito when they worked Santos Lucha Libre London tour in December 2008, and now they fire him.

  2. Wow they must REALLY loathe Hijo del Santo to release the man voted Mini of the year for working two matches in Europe – I guess he could get permission to work as SAnticito permanently now, is going from gold to silver a downgrade though?

  3. “CMLL (SUN) 03/14 Plaza Voluntad del Acero, Lazaro Cardenas, Michoacan”

Any time you see a lineup with…

“3) Estruendo, La Maravilla, Principe vs Destroyer, Emperador, Flecha”

… these guys, you know it’s a show bring run by some political party. If they want someone booked – you get the guys they want no questions asked.

I’m also hoping the 3/14 lineup changes b/c otherwise I think we’re getting a Leono/Fabian vs Felino’s kids feud and that can’t be good for anyone.

  4. @Rob: Is Leono/Fabian vs Felino’s kids becoming a feud. That will be two straight weeks of them squaring off.

  5. Well Im watching AAA and it looks like both Hernandez and Mr Anderson are confirmed for Rey de Reyes. Roldan went on to mention that TNA and AAA now have a working agreement and that more news about the talent exchange will come out in the upcoming weeks.

Funny thing about Hernandez was that his promo had an awful (im being nice) cell phone call in which he spoke english and he just trashed AAA. Not sure if thats the way to you want to start a partnership.

Alex Koslov’s spanish continues to improve in clarity.

LaserBoy still sucks, he is to green in all terms of the word, I felt bad for the poor guys that have to work with him, since it just seems hi timing is off by 5-10 seconds which in lucha is a lifetime.

BTW- Roldan is in LA today with his family. If your anywhere near Universal come on down.

  6. @LuChava: I thought the opener on TV was really good for AAA standards. Aero Star finally got someone to work with and looked amazing as we’d expect. Everyone was working hard. Great efforts all around.

Almost hurt myself rolling my eyes during the Konnan/Billy Boy skit. Total WCW…

  7. @LuChava: Just watched the Lasser Boy match and gotta disagree with you. He looked the best he has thus far. Hit three really sweet armdrag spots and his dives were fine. He’s really young and obviously green (not just his outfit) so you gotta cut him some slack.

It’s a shame all of Atomic Boy’s stuff got edited out.:(

  8. Totally don’t get the Secta finish…

Ozz kidnaps Jack and then Escoria/Cuervo destroy Laredo Kid/Super Fly but walk away before pinning them. So wins/losses don’t matter any more? It doesn’t mean anything to pin Laredo Kid/Super Fly? WTF?

  9. Here are the results from Coliseo today. Pretty fun show and better attendance than when I went the last time but that was sometime last year.

    1) Bengala & Camaleón beat Apocalipsis & Cholo-fun, but nothing special
    2) Fabián el Gitano & Leono beat Puma King & Tiger Kid-Felino’s kids can only work with who they are matched up with. They made it as interesting as they could. Two fall match ended in DQ with a low blow to Leono.
    3) Pequeño Nitro beat Bam Bam, Eléctrico, Shockercito, Último Dragoncito, Pequeño Olímpico, Pequeño Damian 666, Pequeño Warrior, Pequeño Universo 2000, Pequeño Violencia [cibernetico, Pequeno Rey de Aires]-Nitro makes Bam Bam submit for the (upset? disappointing?) victory. There is talk of a title match after it is over. Clearly quite a few fun spots in this, but I was a little surprised with the choice of a winner.
    4) Terrible, Texano Jr., Vangelis beat Máscara Dorada, Rush, Toscano-Some fun stuff here with Dorada and the Rudos being entertaining. Dorada almost fell off the turnbuckle while doing his walking the ropes bit.
    5) Blue Panther, Brazo de Plata, Volador Jr. beat Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas, Ray Mendoza, Jr.-Mendoza is in for Taichi which is actually a disappointment. More importantly, QueMonito comes out with Niebla, and is abused by the rudos, including a bit of a splash from Porky and all of them kind of ganging up on him. What the hell are the tecnicos doing beating up a midget, that’s not cool at all. Volador gets Casas to end the match and challenges him for one, or maybe all of his titles. Casas seems to blow him off, so presumably we get a singles match soon to set up a title match?

  10. @Alan: PEQUENO NITRO? WTF? I hope you’re drunk and confusing him for Ultimo Dragoncito.:)

Certainly sounds like we’re getting a Felino’s kids vs Fabian/Leono feud. Shame there are no Coliseo tag titles to feud over.

Maybe Cubs was dead-on and next week’s lineup will be shuffled to include a Volador/Negro match.

Gotta say I’m very displeased with the Monito abuse. I’m also confused since Mephisto, Efesto and Virus beat him up on Friday. IS THERE NO SAFE HAVEN FOR THE LIL’ GUY?

  11. @Rob: Santo tours! If QueMonito wants to be safe, he’ll go on one of those tours and he’ll never get attacked by CMLL rudos.;)

  12. @Tim: Pequeno Damian surely doesn’t follow Mascarita Dorada as long as Raven Hiroka is in CMLL.

  13. @Rob: I would think they would either add the Volador/Casas singles match or the Nitro/Bam Bam match (but they seem like they might keep building to this through the trios match).

Not for nothing but look at it again. He looked awful, sure he was working with that fat fuck brazo but damn it was hard to watch. Thank good televisa offers free tivo service and i could fast forward through the tough spots.

I did like the fact that JAck Evans maybe joining the Secta, lets hope he gets a new look. I think if they went with the “HBO: True Blood” vampire look for him it would work and go over big time.

Im looking forward to Pimpi joining the Wagnermaniacos at Rey de Reyes. How great would it be that he joins and all of a sudden drops the “tranny” gimmick and turns all butch and calls himself just Pimp, LOL.
