1) Comando Negro b Imperial
2) Alan Extreme & Hijo del Signo b Eragon & Héros
3) Freelance, Jack, Suicida b Avisman, El Hijo del Diablo, Gringo Loco

5) Hijo de Pirata Morgan & Pirata Morgan b Máscara Año 2000 & Máscara Año 2000 Jr. [IWRG IC TAG]

Main event came down to Pirata Sr. and Mascara Sr. exchanging low blows. Pirata won.

Angelico pinned Veneno for the semimain win, sort of. Veneno appeared to kick out at 2, then demanded a title match.

5) Bam Bam & Último Dragoncito b Pequeño Damian 666 & Pequeño Warrior

Nothing much of note here. It was a Strong Man match.

2) Fabián el Gitano, Guerrero Maya Jr., Leono b Dr. X, Hooligan, Nitro

4) Blue Panther, Toscano, Valiente b Euforia, Nosferatu, Vangelis
5) Hijo del Fantasma, Místico, Shocker b Atlantis, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero

Mistico wrestled the main event without issue. The fans are booing him like he’s a rudo, even if the programmers haven’t seemed to catch on. Remember my old theory about Sunday and Tuesday booking being done by people who don’t actually talk to or watch the Friday shows? This seems like validation.

Anyway, the actual angle here was Shocker’s instant feud. On Tuesday, Shocker and Rey Bucanero suddenly remembered they disliked each other and wanted to face off in a hair match, so here we got…uh, set up for a Shocker/Ultimo Guerrero title match. Which may happen as soon as next week (but probably not.) I dunno.

Over the weekend, CMLL announced the two legends to be honored as Dos Leyendas will be Salvador Lutteroth (as always) and Ray Mendoza.

SuperLuchas has their Perros del Mal recap, noting two more pre-show matches. That should be enough for 3 weeks of TV. Probably something like this:

02/22 (TODAY!) – last matches from the 01/31 show
Damián 666, Halloween, Mr. Águila b Groon XXX, Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr., Oriental
El Hijo Del Santo & LA Park DQ Blue Demon Jr. & el Hijo del Perro Aguayo

03/01 – start of 02/20
Talisman b Dinastia
Histeria II, Pesadilla, Ragde DQ Celestial, Hijo del Lizmark, Oriental

03/08
Black Thunder b Turbo
X-Fly b Charly Manson [MEX HEAVY]

03/15
Cósmico & Konami b Black Fire & Mr. Aguilita
el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Halloween, Mr. Águila b Blue Demon Jr., LA Park, Super Crazy

The next taping probably should be the March 13th/14th weekend, if they’re not skipping a week or something else.

Ovaciones also has a profile on Tinieblas Sr., with his retirement coming up (at some point.) There’s also a sidebar, explaining Alushe was created because his kids didn’t want to see the same movie him. I swear I’m not making that up.

And now, a run of morbid links:

Ohtani’s Jacket checks on IWRG 02/18.

Kcidis has the breakup of the WagnerManiacos.

One notable lineup

CMLL (THU) 03/04 Arena Coliseo Acapulco
1) La Máscara, Máscara Dorada, Máximo vs Dragon Rojo Jr., Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca
2) Averno & Místico vs La Sombra & Volador Jr.

Someone’s actually got him on the rudo side, but then Volador is involved.

  1. I think its a rule that if you promote wrestling, you don’t watch the other shows. Heck, some guys don’t even watch their own shows.

  2. A Shocker/UG main event at 2Leyendas would probably be enough to drive me to AAA if CMLL didn’t stack the undercard. Fortunately, we are a few weeks out and there is no sign of Shocker on the Friday night card. Given the disconnect between Friday and Tuesday/Sunday this has to be a good sign right?

  3. I’ve had the Puebla replay on this afternoon, and it looks like they are only getting an hour and a half and (sadly) cut the semimain. Has anyone heard if this happened yesterday or if they got the full two hours that they were listed for and everything aired?

Irrelevant, but interesting: Mistico is wearing his regular/old mask when working these shows as a tecnico instead of the combo/rudo mask he has been wearing on Fridays in the DF.

  4. Why so harsh on the Mistico playing both sides story, Cubs? I like it. He hates Volador. He doesn’t hate the tecnicos. He’s said so. New CMLL = no tecnicos or rudos. Works for me and freshens up the matches. If Strongman and Porky have no issue teaming with Mistico, maybe Volador should be mad at them!

I like it like this b/c you never know what sort of main event you’ll get the following week since it’s not restricted to only tecnico vs rudo matches.

  5. @thecubsfan: Interesting. Who would have guessed that TVCDeportes would go through the effort of editing down a show.

Perros seem to be airing the predicted matches this afternoon. The opener makes me feel bad that Veneno didn’t come by and “bless” me or whatever it is that he does with the hand on the fans head. I probably won’t sit front row for many more Perros shows, so this might have been my last chance to be saved by Veneno.

  6. We can safely assume the entire Puebla show aired yesterday if only the semi-main is missing from the 1:30 broadcast. Really want to see that tercera.

  7. Wow, Celestial’s crash and burn looked even worse on TV than I remembered it. He went to do a shooting star press and caught his feet on the top turnbuckle on the way down. I’m not sure if Crazy was trying to roll to catch him or was supposed to be rolling out of the way, but he basically came straight down on his head with Crazy rolling into him. And then Crazy powerbombed the hell out of him.

They are also advertising a 3/17 show in SLP (I think) featuring Blue Demon, Santo, Perro, Halloween, Damian, HdLizmark, and Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr. They listed several dates going out through early May earlier in the show as part of the “Perros del Mal Tour 2010” that I’ll try to go back and get the dates and locations on off the tape later.

  8. @Rob: Tercera looked pretty decent from what I saw while working.

Santo is on PdM tv and supposedly working the March 17 show. Who knows what that means in regards to the story from last week.

  9. @Alan: Excellent. Let’s hope Cubs’ prediction skills are correct and the opener also airs. (makes sense -> short match + long match)

  10. This Misterioso II vs Misterioso Jr. thing is interesting. They look a lot alike except Jr. is a little shorter and not as good. I’m guessing this will turn into a Mistico vs Mystico situation and Jr. will change his name back to his original name.

  11. @Tim: Yes, but isn’t Misterioso 2 like a nephew or student or something of Misterioso, if I remember correctly. That might mean that if Misterioso Sr. has endorsed this Jr., it might be tough titties for Misterioso 2.

  12. Upcoming shows from the Perros TV show-
March 17-San Luis Potosi-Auditorio Miguel Barragan
    March 31-Monterrey-Gimnasio Nuevo Leon
April 28-San Luis Potosi-Auditorio Miguel Barragan
    April 30-Mexicali-Plaza de Toros
    May 1-Tijuana-Plaza de Toros

Odd to have the next two shows spaced out so much and then three shows packed in together at the end of April/early May.

  13. @Alan: that Tijuana show has to be the one X-Fly’s talking about for the hair match, but I don’t know about stretching this feud out to May. That’s sort of crazy.

You’re right, it doesn’t make since to have those three shows grouped together. Maybe they’re not all TV tapings?

  14. @thecubsfan: I agree that dragging out the Xfly feud through the beginning of May is a bad idea. On the other hand, this is clearly the one feud where they have a payoff coming, so dragging it out makes some sense. Even if they do have everyone on board for the Perro/Santo/Demon/PARK cage match, I would guess they wouldn’t pull the trigger on it until December for their second anniversary show…which gives everyone a lot of time to back out.

There was no indication which of these shows will be TV tapings. Its entirely possible there will be other shows added (No DF shows until May?) and/or that some of these are the local shows with Perro/Damian vs PARK/someone else in the main event kind of Perro’s show.
