02/13-15 Lucha Times

box

AAA-US: first taping of ’10. Cibernetico teams with Clowns for the first time, plus the WagnerManiacos versus Crazy/Parka/Laredo, and the Vipers vs La Secta

52MX: Azteca/Fabian/Guerrero vs Tuareg, Pesta Negra vs Fantasma/Sombra/Sagrado

IWRG: (if it airs!) Mascara/Mascara/Veneno vs Angelico/Pantera/Rayman, plus the four way cage match

—–

CMLL: looks like an 1h30m slot right now (but don’t believe until Saturday), which would mean top 3 again. You know the main event.

AAA-MEX: This past Friday’s main event, with WagnerManiacos vs Mesias/Parka/Latin, and Lasser Boy’s debut. Of note, AAA says they’ll always be on from 4-6p (CT) from now on. It’d be nice if it actually worked out that way, and I’m sure they’ve be told that’s been the case, but…

CMLL-FOX: Looks like 11:30am this week. Rush/Stuka/Valiente vs Dragon/Misterioso/Okumura, and Guerreros vs Porky/Garza/Mistico

C3: Terrible/Texano/Vangelis vs Dorada/Sagrado/Shocker, but you should tune in for the Panther/Metro/Feugo vs Raciel/Okumura/Virus semimain.

Puebla: not actually listed on the TVC Deportes schedule as I type this, so not totally sure when/if it’ll air. If there’s only four matches, the Fabian/Rouge/Apocalipsis trio is sure to be cut.

Monterrey: Silver Star/Hator, again?

Perros: last week was 1&4, so maybe this’ll be 2&5? That’d be the minis match and Familia de Tijuana vs Groon/Wagner/Oriental.

CMLL-TFN: Have we given up on this? This week should have the Casas family teaming up against the not-yet-Super Sky Team. This show is so dated, Dos Jr., Lizmark Jr. and Heavy Metal are all involved.

AAA’s Rey de Reyes will be on 03/12 in Queretaro. Probable matches based on TV:

  • Rey de Reyes tournament, in some form
  • Alex Koslov vs Extreme Tiger [AAA CRUISER]
  • Cibernetico vs Konnan (probably not a multiman match, they need bodies for the tournament)
  • Mesias vs Latin Lover vs Electroshock [AAA HEAVY]

If they’re doing the usual 16 man/5 match tournament, then they probably only have room for one more match. Not sure they’re actually doing that until it’s announced.

AAA says TripleMania will be in DF, with more details coming. They also note Dorian is listening to Konnan again. They mean on TV.

A few different places have a CMLL article on Taichi. They’re talking about Taichi being trained by Hiroshi Hase and mention that he used to be a rival of No Limit, but they’ll be on the same page now. Ovaciones’ article says Okumura, Taichi and Naito will be a trio on next Friday’s card.

Fuego en el Ring talks to Metal Blanco & Gallo, who are ready for a mask match with Palacio Negro & Neutron. Also, Mascara Dorada talks about training with Atlantis in preparation for the tournament win.

SuperLuchas interviews X-Fly, who’s already thinking ahead to the hair match past this the announced championship team.

Box Y Lucha has an interview with indy wrestler Guardian de la Noche.

Ohtani’s Jacket starts a 1998 Sampler with Santo/Panther/Warrior vs Negro/Atlantis/Niebla.

The SegundaCaida folks have started an IWRG Message Board. I want to say something snarky like “for all your thoughts about Alan Extreme”, but that’s more a joke about naming yourself Alan Extreme. I’m pretty sure I’d be using my time wiser watching YouTube IWRG than finishing recapping lame duck AAA from December.

Black Terry & Dr. Cerebro vs Hijo del Diablo & Gringo Loco – I’m not even sure I should bother writing anything here, because I’m still quietly marking out over a guy I’ve seen on shows in front of less than 50 people wrestling on an actual lucha libre show. This is so impressively cool, even if maybe only 50 people get this channel. Match was a good bloody brawl, nothing extraordinary but certainly something a lot different than on a normal CMLL or AAA show, but I was really too busy being amusing by the strangeness of life to form an objective opinion.

By the way, Hijo del Diablo’s listed weight on the luchawiki has to be most inaccurate fact we have on there, and that’s true even if someone’s added themselves as a profile in the last fifteen minutes. Even more the (intentionally inaccurate) Alushe bio! There’s no way Diablo’s under 200 lbs, I refuse to believe it.

IWRG IC Tag Tournament 2010, Block B: Part 1 Part 2 – I had the same problems with this match as the last one that aired; just way too much aimless fighting and people turning on each other fifteen times to make sure you didn’t care the sixteenth. The finish was all sorts of absurd, but at least I’ve delayed this long enough to find out they may actually be going somewhere with it. Still wouldn’t want to watch this again.
