Todos x El Todos, CMLL/IWRG, Lineups

There’s one two different sets of photos already on line from today’s Todos x el Todos show in Brussels, plus one news story. Hijo del Santo’s twitter says they sold out the building. Looks like someone was wrestling as mini Santo, which hasn’t been done before.

Black Terry Jr. has photos of a show at Sala de Armas Magdalena Mixhuca with IWRG vs CMLL matches. With this building and no promotion in the usual internet venue, this had to be an Ultimo Dragon-related bit. Videos include Traumas vs Rey & UG, which seems too good to have actually occurred. Actually, the big news here is Hijo del Fantasma, because the finishing powerbomb from Friday’s lighting match looks like a botched move ending with Fantasma dropping on his head.

Tinieblas plans for retirement include a book, multiple TV shows, and an animated movie. Not much of a retirement.

Cesar previews this week’s CMLL lineups, including Sunday, as well as AAA’s Rey de Reyes and the 05/01 Perros Tijuana show. Actually, the last two are more of a take down, but you know this.

Box Y Lucha has an interview with Gran Petronio.

DJ Spectro has a note on the passing of wrestler Mr. Cobra, who wrestled in the 70s and the 80s.

Segunda Caida watches 01/28/10 IWRG, then goes back to the archives to for 09/02/04 IWRG.

Ohtani’s Jacket talks about the captains hair match from 02/25 IWRG, and where it’s headed.

Cronicas Y Leyendas looks back at Scorpio vs Scorpio part 2, the dream team of Mil Mascaras, Dos Caras and Canek facing the Hawaiians (by way of Samoa)

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update.

FOX gets the Pequenos Reyes de Aires. 52MX gets Fabian & Leono as a tag team. I hope they’re not paying the same amount! I would assume Dorada and Pierrothito are busy somewhere, but Pequeno Universo 2000 is not exactly who comes to mind when I think King of The Mini Flyers.

US: 03/20

Octagoncito got the pin on Mini Abismo Negro. Sexy got the microphone after the match to remind us she’s still champ.

El Brazo wore his mask, to celebrate his 29th year of wrestling. (They have his debut as 02/27/81, luchawiki has it as August 1980.) Brazo also got the win. Sad debut for the Boy trio. After the match, Guapito and Lasser Boy had issues, which led to Lasser Boy and Guapito’s new bodyguard Hilario having issues, which led to Lasser Boy getting beat up. Crazy Boy made the save.

Secta walked out of their match, then came back to beat up Jack. I dunno. (It might make more sense if the Sect beat up Jack backstage, costing them this match by countout, but I don’t think that happened either.)

Before the semimain, Alex Koslov vowed to defend the cruiserweight title every week after he defeats Extreme Tiger for it at Rey de Reyes. Note the lineup for after Rey de Reyes has Alex in an atomicos. HMMM. Anyway, Alex also pointed out this was part of Konnan’s plan for the Legion to win all the titles this year. Again, Lider and Nicho were unhappy. Koslov feuded more with Latin Lover during the course of the match, but Tiger got Alex with a inverted crucfix bomb, and Latin picked up the pinfall for the win.

Main event featured referee change (Piero in for Tirantes) and Konnan at the announce desk. Before the match, Mesias and Cibernetico tried to count up all the times they turned on each other. Hmmm

  1. the time Muerte Cibernetica pulled a coup in the Sect and kicked Cibernetico out (starting the Hell Brothers)
  2. the time Cibernetico returned and befriended Mesias for no reason except to turn on him (starting the Bizzaros – this one didn’t go as well)

The fire bit wasn’t actually a turn.

Anyway, the tecnicos won the match, and everyone ran in after. Legion was first, followed by Latin, Marco and Tiger to run them off. Konnan and Cibernetico vowed to end each other at Rey de Reyes, and Cibernetico and Mesias hugged.

Sombra/Volador vs Felino/Mistico, Monito, Von Eerie

CMLL (FRI) 02/26 Arena Mexico [Ovaciones (PDF), SuperLuchas, Cesar]
1) Astro Boy, Guerrero Maya Jr., Molotov DQ Artillero, Semental, Súper Comando
2) Fuego, Pegasso, Rey Cometa b Arkangel de la Muerte, Loco Max, Skándalo
3) Mephisto b Hijo del Fantasma [lightning]
4) La Máscara, Shocker, Toscano b Dragon Rojo Jr., Máximo, Mr. Niebla
5) Terrible, Texano Jr., Último Guerrero b Naito, Ray Mendoza Jr., Taichi
6) La Sombra, Máscara Dorada, Volador Jr. b Felino, Místico, Negro Casas

Casas submitted Dorada to take the first fall of the main event, Dorada and Sombra got castias on the Casas brothers to win the second. In the third, Sombra pulled Mistico’s mask and Volador rolled him up. After the match, Felino and Mistico decided to join forces and challenge Volador & Sombra to a tag team mask match. Volador & Sombra (sort of cowardly) walked away without answering.

My best guess is this turns into a tag team title match. Which would be good, but not the stakes we’ve been led to expect.

UG got Mendoza with a powerbomb to take the semimain. Taichi still has not taken a fall.

Monito was caught in the middle of the fourth match. He started the match with Shocker, much to the disappointemnt of Maximo & Niebla. Tecnicos took the first, rudos took the second. After that fall, Dragon Rojo wanted revenge on Monito for something that happened earlier, but Niebla & Maximo stopped him. Shocker kicked at Dragon Rojo, but missed and hit Monito! Shocker apologized to Monito, but Monito was angry and ditched him. Mr. Niebla tried to get Monito on his side, but Monito walked off on him as well. Hmmmm. Mascara and Toscano won the fall and the match for the tencicos.

Mephisto got Fantasma in 9:44 with a Tiger Driver ’91. Fantasma was sterchered out. Artillero ripped off Molotov’s mask in the opener.

AAA has switched the foreign women in the trios to Christina Von Eerie, and pulled the article hyping Lacey Von Erich (though you can still see her name on a Rey de Reyes page, until they read this.) Cesar chronicles the whole weirdness about the Rey de Reyes situation. I always lean towards it these things being more bad coordination than works of deception. This isn’t the first time where it’s seemed like the person (people?) running the website have no idea are working with limited or no information based off what other parts of the company are doing. Anyway, SuperLuchas has all you need to know about Von Eerie and I think it’s a better match with her in it.

The headline of this article is “Lizmark says lucha libre is now a fraud“, but it’s more the standard complaint about kids these days not having a good amateur wrestling base before they start doing the wacky moves, and he’s going to start training people right.

Bam Bam tells Fuego en el Ring that Mini Violencia has not earned a championship match yet.

Relampago talks to his hometown paper about making it to AAA. Apache and Mexicano are training him now.

SuperLuchas has a video of Konami vs Drastik Boy. I’m glad we’ve agreed on a spelling for Drastik!

DJ Spectro writes about Brazos vs Aquamen for the masks, in 1980.

Cronicas Y Leyandas has posts on Dr. Wagner winning a title in 1975, Los Fantasticos, La Yaqui losing her mask, and a show featuring Emilio Charles Jr. trainees.

Lineups

4) Blue Panther, Fuego, Rush vs Euforia, Shigeo Okumura, Virus
5) Brazo de Plata, Héctor Garza, Toscano vs Naito, Ray Mendoza Jr., Taichi

When you have Astro Boy & Starman in the tercera, this is the C show. (It still should be a pretty good match!)

CMLL (FRI) 03/05 Arena Mexico
1) Metálico & Sensei vs Disturbio & Durango Kid
2) Dark Angel, Lady Apache, Lluvia vs Hiroka, Mima Shimoda, Princesa Sujei
3) Diamante vs Raziel [lightning]

5) La Máscara, Shocker, Strong Man vs Atlantis, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero
6) La Sombra, Máscara Dorada, Volador Jr. vs Felino, Místico, Negro Casas

Hey, that main event looks familiar. They really need to be airing these lighting matches.

No Sunday lineup so far.

Pantera loses his hair to Trauma I, Shocker, Tinieblas

IWRG (THU) 02/25 Arena Naucalpan [Black Terry Jr. (photos), Estrellas del Ring]
1) Comando Negro b Imperial
2) Dinamic Black & Héros b Alan Extreme & Keshin Black
3) Avisman, El Hijo del Diablo, Gringo Loco b Eragon, Freelance, Suicida
4) Flor Metalica & Tiger Fuka b La Diabólica & Lady Metal
5) Dr. Cerebro, Hijo del Signo, Trauma I b Hijo del Pantera, Pantera, Zatura [captains hair]

Trauma I and Pantera were drawn as the captains. Rudos won the first fall quick, Pantera rallied his team for the third. Pantera may have had Trauma I in the third fall, but Dr. Cerebro threw white power in the face of the tecnico, and Trauma I pinned him for the hair win.

Fuka got the pin on Diabolica in her farewell match here. SuperLuchas has a video from Fuka to promote the show she’ working on Sunday in Arena Lopez Mateos.

CMLL (FRI) 02/26 Arena Mexico
1) Astro Boy, Guerrero Maya Jr., Molotov vs Artillero, Semental, Súper Comando

5) Terrible, Texano Jr., Último Guerrero vs Naito, Ray Mendoza Jr., Taichi
6) La Sombra, Máscara Dorada, Volador Jr. vs Felino, Místico, Negro Casas

Previews: Notimex, Ovaciones, SuperLuchas

It’s about time CMLL has a definite direction for Dos Leyendas. The four most likely participants are in the main event, setting the stage for something, but they need to have that something worked out, so they can start emphazing it and not whichever match(es) they’re waiting until September to run. I’ve heard the press conference for Dos Leyendas is next week, and CMLL usually makes the main event clear before the press event, so tonight’s finish should be telling.

As a fan, I want Sombra/Felino or Volador/Mistico, and a relevos suicdas would actually be less interesting than just a straight tag title match (the final encounter shouldn’t be a one fall six minute match, that’d be depressing.) A cage match is still a possibility, and by far the least interesting (outside doing nothing at all.)

Elsewhere on the card, the semimain is the Renegados (let’s just go with it for Terrible & Texano) getting another shot at Naito and Taichi (playing the part of Yujiro.) UG/V5 was last year’s Dos Leyenda’s main event, and Mendoza Jr. surely will figure into this year’s show with his father being honored. Maybe they’ll do Villanos/Guerreros?

Maximo continues to flirt with Mr. Niebla and the rudo side. Fantasma is in another lightning match that seems a bit big for a lightning match (and this one doesn’t look to make TV either.) Despite an on going feud the last couple of weeks, the minis are not on this week’s lineup. Mini Warrior/Bracito de Oro kind feels like a match to do on a week before or after Dos Leyendas to avoid the usual drop in attendance around a major show, but maybe that’s not the plan.

Shocker, hyping Sunday’s title match, he wouldn’t mind putting up his hair as well. Shocker says UG is a great fighter, and while he wouldn’t plan on losing, at least he would’ve lost to a great guy if he does lose. A similar article has a photo of Shocker with a giant comb in his pocket.

Talking with Fuego en el Ring about a variety of things, Negro Casas seems to have soften his stance on Mistico becoming a rudo, but still says Mistico would have to earn his spot and the fan’s respect as a rudo.

Tinieblas Sr. has a few more details for his retirement tour. It’ll start with a show on Thursday 04/15, and he’ll be honored at Arena Mexico the next day. This’ll be followed by 19 more shows up until the break for the world cup on June 6th.

Though AAA has said their tickets are on sale for their 03/19 DF, those going to the ticket office haven’t been able to purchase them.

Satillo’s Misterioso Jr. says he has permission to use that name, since 1995.

R de Rudo has an interview with Ricky Marvin.

LuchandoLibre and R de Rudo has photos of the Blue Demon Jr. jewelry. I might actually purchase a Blue Demon Jr. ring, if only I knew the proper occasion to wear one.

This article about an AAA show in Puebla on Sunday notes this is Estrellita’s final show with the company, but is more notable for the sad Wolverine setting at the press conference table.

Cronicas y Leyendas looks back at Perro Aguayo beating Mil Mascaras.

The mini lucha portraits shown here are really great.

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update and the latest Slammin’ Stan.

2010 AAA TV Chart
Projected Air Dates (#930, #931)
Mexico: 03/21, 03/28
US: 04/03, 04/10

He’s listed as Mr. Kennedy on the lineup, but he’s working as Mr. Anderson in TNA now. He was contacted to be the mystery man in the Copa Pena at Heroes Inmortales, but was not available (and AAA ended up with Konnan Big instead.) I don’t think he’s going to become AAA Heavyweight Champion, but it is AAA.

As suggested on AAA’s TV, the Rey de Reyes tournament has been a victim of downsizing, down from 16 participants to 12. It seems as if we’re missing a rudo in Elegido/Kenzo/Crazy group – maybe that’s the most likely winner for the group, given those 3. The Parka/Zorro/Chessman/Octagon group is toughest to pick, while the other one really has to be Marco or Jack.

Cibernetico vs Konnan is listed as lucha a muerte. Whatever that ends up meaning.

If Pimpi wins the trios match, he gets to be in WagnerManiacos. If the WagnerManiacos win, I dunno. Seeing as there’s two mystery spots, and there’s a tag team usually on these show that will work with anyone for the right amount of money, this seems like an easy guess.

A few weeks ago, the WON had a list of even more women AAA was talking about bringing in. One of them was Christina Von Eerie, so that’s who that is. (I have absolutely no idea who that is.) Update: AAA says it’s actually Lacey Von Erich. Why? Update 2: AAA changed it to Christian Von Eerie.

Has anyone sent in their Tapatia ballots yet? Usually I have some by now, but I’ve received o.

Cesar says Terrible & Texano will be headed to NJPW for their G-1 Tag Climax, with Hector Garza & Ultimo Guerrero perhaps working a tour prior.

AAA looks back at the recent issues between Mesias & Cibernetico. I like looking back farther, to Ciberenetico sealing Mesias in a coffin, setting it on fire, and dumping it into the ocean.

Blue Demon Jr. is working on a jewelry and a clothing line. Also, he’s defending the NWA title vs Sicodelico this weekend, but that’s not as interesting.

La Parka Jr. doesn’t consider himself an idol on the level of Octagon. He’s probably right.

LA based luchador Chippy Sanchez was arrested for sexually assaulting a 12 year old.

Vangelis talks about being inspired by Hitler. Really.

Ovaciones has a story on Fuka’s match tonight at Arena Naucalpan. So does SuperLuchas.

Fuego en el Ring has a report on troublemaking fans in Arena Coliseo Guadalajara, who have lately been more the women. They also talk to El Hijo del Santo about what he’s up to.

Cronicas y Leyendas looks back at Fuerza Guerrero vs Gallo Tapado.

DJ Spectro writes about Mistico’s appearance on Platicando.

Ras de Lona #86 has the usual assortment of interviews.

A new episode of Slammin’ Stan is live tonight.
