Volador/Mistico, Santo/Perro, AULL, Felino, lineups

CMLL (SUN) 01/31 Arena Mexico [Cesar]
1) Bengala & Trueno b Apocalipsis & Ramstein
2) Amapola, Princesa Blanca, Princesa Sujei b Lady Apache, Lluvia, Marcela
3) Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca, Shigeo Okumura b Fuego, Metro, Valiente
4) Dragon Rojo Jr., Felino, Negro Casas DQ Hijo del Fantasma, Máscara Dorada, Toscano
5) Atlantis, Místico, Último Guerrero b Máximo, Mr. Niebla, Volador Jr. [Relevos Increíbles]

Despite friendliness on Ras de Lona, Mistico & the Guerreros really didn’t want much to do with each other during the match, so this turned into two sub matches – Atlantis/UG vs Maximo/Niebla, and Mistico dominating Volador.  Mystic Warriors took the first fall, Smelly Love and Rockets took fall two. Maximo and Niebla (moonsault!) took out the Guerreros with dives in the third, leaving Volador & Mistico. Volador took it to the top for moonsault sideslam, but Mistico yanked his mask and wrapped him up. Volador got the microphone and vowed a different result for Friday. Mistico spat in his face. (Well, then.)

Oh, and in the semimain, they seem to be setting up a Fantamsa/Negro singles match this week or next. Seriously, that’s an interesting match in it’s own right and it’s almost as if CMLL is doing too much at once, an seemingly improbable set of events. It’s just, when nuclear war breaks out in the main events, everything else gets a little overshadowed. Negro stole the win over Fantasma last week by grabbing the ropes (as seen on 52MX) and lost this won after yanking Fantasma’s mask (as will be seen on 52MX). Perhaps a title match this week or next (as probably seen on FOX – argh.)

PERROS (SUN) 01/31 Sala de Arams Magdalena Mixhuca [Record, Estrellas del Ring, Alan, Alan (Photos)]
1) Turbo b Black Thunder
2) Mr. Aguilita & Talisman Jr. b Cósmico & Mini Parkita
3) Pesadilla, Super Crazy, Veneno b Celestial, Hijo del Lizmark, Súper Nova
4) Charly Manson DCO X-Fly [super libre]
5) Damián 666, Halloween, Mr. Águila b Groon XXX, Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr., Oriental
6) El Hijo Del Santo & LA Park DQ Blue Demon Jr. & el Hijo del Perro Aguayo

Over 5,000 fans according to the Record, and the photos seem to back it up. If it wasn’t a sell out, it still looks pretty good. Show was taped for TVC Deportes with the Tercera Caida crew.

Super Crazy was a surprise member on the rudo team. Hijo del Lizmark was just back from his knee injury and said to be issues. The other wrestlers were apparently concerned about Celestial after the match; he may have suffered a neck injury.

Charly vs X-Fly was a bloody hardcore match with plenty of weapons (and a car?!?). Ruling seems to have been double countout (in a no DQ match!) , but they played Charly’s music after.

Perros took the semifinal with Damian taking Wagner’s mask and pinning him. Dr. Wagner III is working one of Super Crazy’s kids shows; surprisingly, he’s not working with in the kids’ match.

Main event ended with Santo taking the Perrito Driver (foul), and otherwise rudo referee Tirantes starting to count the pin before ruling the DQ. Every combination of match was teased after. No date given for the next show.

AULL (FRI) 01/29 Arena Lopez Mateos [Black Terry Jr. (Flickr), Estrellas del Ring, Al Filo del Ring, R de Rudo]
1) Hormiga Atómica & Rey Kristal b Pequeño Demonio & Pequeño Troll
2) Chucho el Roto, Iron Love, Mr. Potro b Hombre sin Rostro, Kilvan, Ronny Rivera
3) Súper Panda & Tortuguillo Ninja b Silver Cat & Silver Cat II [AULL TAG]
4) Brazo de Plata Jr., Brazo Metalico, El Brazo Jr. b Cerebro Maligno, Epitafo, Herejía
5) Psicopata, Rey Krimen, Sepulturero I, Terry 2000 b Robin Maravilla, Rocky Santana, Sadico, Yakuza
6) Histeria II, LA Park, Psicosis II b Blue Demon Jr., El Alebrije, Olímpico

Main event was billed as UWE and NWA. Demon still has the NWA title, and the only association either side seems to have with those initials.  (Okay, there are some others with very tenuous connections.)

It turned into a Park/Demon duel. Black Spirit ran in to foul Demon Jr., giving Park the win. Everyone but Park and Spirit were already acknowledging the father/son relationship, and they’ve given in on it too. When hyping up today’s Perros del Mal show, LA Park introduced Black Spirit as “Hijo de La Park“, and mentioned a plan to do a show with Parka, Spirit, Super Parka, and Volador Jr., if CMLL would allow it.

Video of 3&4 (MOTN!) is up on YouTube. That’s a tag title change in the third. R de Rudo said it seemed entertaining to read an encyclopedia than watch the opener (Line of the Night!)

Mascara Dorada is hoping to win an important mask or hair this year – Dragon Rojo’s, Felino’s, or Okumura’s. Well, one of those seem likely.

Actually, it does seem like this is the right year and right moment for Felino to put up his mask (though it could be against anyone of of a number people.) Peste Negra has reinvigorated him, just on a few months delay from Negro Casas, and you only get so many rebirths. On the other hand, he could jsut ride this out, and get a whole separate run just based on his mask loss instead of doing it all here.

El Sol del Hidalgo tells the story of how Arena Aficion came to be, as it turns 58 years old today. In the late 40s, a group of friends rented an old arena in Hidalgo…for cockfighting. When the police eventually broke it up, they went for the very rare “there’s was nothing better to do on Sundays in Hidalgo” defense, and the locals government used the plea to convince Francisco Flores and Benjamin Mora to build Arena Aficion.

Cesar looks at who wrestled most in CMLL in the 00s.. You should have little truble geussing who’s #1. Wish the ’00-04 records were more complete.

Segunda Caida checks out more Cassandro in 2007 AAA. Hopefully Mascara Divina will be better when he’s not Mascara Divina. (Kind of a surprise that new gimmick hasn’t made TV yet.)

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update.

4) Angelico, Pantera, Solar I vs Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro

This Copa Higher Power is trainees vs IWRG regulars. They were teasing an Oficials title defense last week, but it doesn’t appear they’ve got to it yet.

1) Rayo Tapatío I & Rayo Tapatío II vs Cholo & Zayco
2) Delta, Metálico, Starman vs Disturbio, Puma King, Tiger Kid

5) Hijo del Fantasma, La Sombra, Sagrado vs Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas
6) Brazo de Plata, Místico, Strong Man vs Atlantis, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero

Weird that this is a six match card, and maybe that means something’s going to get changed. You should not read the main event as an indication of where Friday is going; they’re not working it that way.

CMLL (SUN) 02/07 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) El Divino & Relampago vs In Memoria & Titanio
2) Magnum & Samurai vs Drago & Ebola
3) Ángel del Mal vs Palacio Negro [OCCIDENTE WELTER]
4) Ángel de Oro & Ángel de Plata vs Euforia & Pólvora
5) La Máscara, Máscara Dorada, Toscano vs Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto

Angel del Mal is the defending champion. Looks like the Samuari/Magnum issue is getting picked up again.

IWRG (SUN) 02/07 Arena Naucalpan
1) Imperial vs Alan Extreme
2) Eragon, Eros, Suicida vs Avisman, Hijo del Signo, Trauma II
3) Angelico, Hijo del Pantera, Pantera vs Gringo Loco, Trauma I, Veneno

CMLL Guerreros del Ring on CAN52 #218 (01/23/2010)

taped 01/17 @ Arena Mexico

megaupload: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=NVCSUZ9Z

Delta, Leono, Metatrón vs Apocalipsis, Durango Kid, Inquisidor: I think I spent the whole first draft of the recap crossing up Delta and Metatron and didn’t even realize it until Robert pointed out Delta was the one with the nice Asai Moonsault. Think it’s correct, but if it’s not

Delta: good!
Metatron: not really
Leono: Leono. Also, I’m giving into Guerreros del Ring and changing his start date to 1998 (as soon as I remember this.)

Even though I was not really impressed by Metatron, I like the idea of bringing Puebla/GDL vets to DF and giving them a TV match, even if there’s no plan at the time to use them full time. It’s a nice reward for sticking it out, like traveling to Europe is for the main roster. (Though it does look Metatron is sticking around and not just making a cameo.)

Hijo del Fantasma, La Máscara, Sagrado vs Averno, Mephisto, Negro Casas: This was fine, but nothing nearly as interesting. A usual Sunday semifinal.

IWRG on Teleforumla #12 (01/23/2010)

taped 11/01/09 @ Arena Naucalpan

megaupload: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=CSKEPA98

Mascara Magnifica & Star Boy vs Carta Brava Jr. & Hijo del Signo: NO. Expected Carta Brava Jr. to be more interesting because he’s always in the mix with the Skayde Crew, but he didn’t show a lot here. Star Boy was the only one I’d be encouraged to see again, and Mascara Magnifica was the least of the crew.

Flor Metalica & Josseline vs La Diabólica & Lady Metal: NO. This show only ran 38 minutes for who knows what reason. Maybe they realized these two matches did not need 5 more minutes. This match really needed to be a trio (and may have been planned that way), because they had too much time for four people. The singles match the next week is pretty unimaginable. Hopefully Teleformula doesn’t help with that by showing the 11/08 undercard.

02/07 AAA TV Lineup (Salamanca)

3) Crazy Boy & Extreme Tiger vs Joe Lider & Nicho el Millionario

5) El Mesías & Marco Corleone vs Dr. Wagner Jr. & Electroshock

2010 AAA TV Chart
Projected Air Date (#926)
Mexico:  02/21
US: 03/06

The thing about Guerra de Titanes being the big blow off match between Wagner and Mesias is it only works if that’s the last time face each other. If not for the gauntlet on Latin Lover’s arm, you’d be sure they were going to do another Wagner/Mesias match. Maybe it’ll feel a lot different on TV, but in no way does it feel like they’re moving on from that feud.

Speaking of other issues running in place, there’s another Legion vs CiberCirucs atomicos, another Hermandad/Tiger/whoever match and another Fabi/Sexi match. It seems like this week of tapings does not include the taping where everything happens.

Tiger’s last loss to Nicho & Lider was apparently not has last chance. Crazy Boy appears to be taking the slow and steady approach to introducing his new Mexican Powers. Decnnis teaming up with Nicho & Lider on 02/01 and being off the next two cards seems a little bit ominous.

What happened to Rain and Jennifer Blade? Maybe they’ll be back later.

Guys AAA Are Building Around

  • Laredo Kid: not on the card
  • Jack Evans: not on the card
  • Zorro: in the semimain (though as a goon in the Ciber/Konnan war)
  • Marco Corleone: in the main event! hooray! Unless Electro thinks all his flying around means he’s a cruiserweight.

2010 AAA TV Chart
Projected Air Date (#924)
Mexico: 02/14
US:  02/27

Lasser Boy’s debut! I’ve been told pretty definitely that he’s a new kid, and not Atomic Boy, so it should be interesting to see what he’s got. If it airs – they’ve been getting only four matches on TV show far.

Seems like a bit of a reset button going on to where people were about 18 months ago. Mini Chessman is back to the tecnico side, Gran Apache is back to the rudo side.

Dark Family/Vipers 2.0 feud looks to be continuing.

Main event is the Rey de Reyes title match participants teaming up against the Wagners. I like the rudos chances.

New Annoying Running Feature: Checking up on The Guys AAA Will Be Building Around:

  • Marco Corleone – not on the card
  • Laredo Kid – not on the card
  • Jack Evans – not on the card
  • Zorro – in the semimain! Though doesn’t seem to be an important semimain if Elegido & Alan Stone are involved

02/02 Update: AAA makes this lineup official, with Octagoncito in for Mini Chessman. Hooray.
