Bombero Infernal returns (with an ax!), Garza/UG title match next week

IWRG (THU) 01/14 Arena Naucalpan [Estrellas del Ring]
1) Volaris b Flama Eterna
2) Comando Negro & Hijo del Signo b Dinamic Black & Imperial
3) Avisman, El Hijo del Diablo, Gringo Loco b Brazo de Plata Jr., Brazo Jr., Brazo Metalico
4) Trauma I & Trauma II b Suicida & Zatura
5) Angelico, Pantera, Solar I b Bombero Infernal, Hijo de Pirata Morgan, Negro Navarro

Video at the link.

Bombero Infernal blew fire and had an axe. Do not mess with that man. Traumas won the semifinal in one sided three fall win. Rudos in the tercera are going by Los Gringos.

CMLL (FRI) 01/15 Arena Mexico [Cesar, Ovaciones (PDF), ESTO]
1) Artillero & Súper Comando DQ Starman & Tigre Blanco
2) Pequeño Warrior b Último Dragoncito, Pequeño Olímpico, Shockercito, Fantasy, Pierrothito, Pequeño Violencia, Pequeño Nitro [cibernetico]
3) Raciel b Ángel de Plata [lightning]
4) Naito, Shigeo Okumura, Villano IV b Ángel de Oro, Hijo del Fantasma, Metro
5) Terrible, Texano Jr., Vangelis b Brazo de Plata, Máscara Dorada, Volador Jr.
6) Héctor Garza b Último Guerrero

Hector Garza pinned Ultimo Guerrero clean in the main event off the moonsault. Garza took 1 and 3, UG won 2 with feet on the ropes. This should set up a title match next week. As luck (or solid planning) would have it, neither man is in next week’s tournament block.

Terrible got Porky with a senton, plus had his feet on the ropes for the win. Even Porky can’t kickout from feet on the ropes.

Naito pinned Hijo del Fantasma to win the fourth. Villano IV replaced his brother. I guess CMLL’s not worried about V4 beating the youngsters; this was his first match here since June.

Mini Olimpico replaced Tzuki again. This was Ultimo Dragoncito’s return to the ring after the car accident/horrible burns in September. Dragoncito did the huge tope con giro on Pierrothito, so he’s back. Warrior got Dragoncito for the win.

Super Comando fouled Starman in the opener.

CMLL (TUE) 01/19 Arena Mexico
1) Rayo Tapatío I & Rayo Tapatío II vs Apocalipsis & Ramstein
2) Delta, Molotov, Starman vs Artillero, Disturbio, Súper Comando
3) Dalis la Caribeña, Estrella Mágica, Marcela vs Hiroka, La Comandante, Yezca
4) Blue Panther, Fuego, Hijo del Fantasma vs Euforia, Pólvora, Virus
5) Brazo de Plata, Héctor Garza, La Sombra vs Felino, Naito, Rey Bucanero

Cancerbros in the semimain! (They’ll lose.)

CMLL (FRI) 01/22 Arena Mexico
1) Sensei & Trueno vs Apocalipsis & Inquisidor
2) Diamante, Metálico, Pegasso vs Bronco, Dr. X, Hooligan
3) Ángel de Oro, Fuego, Metro vs Cancerbero, Raciel, Virus
4) Terrible & Volador Jr. vs Máximo & Mr. Niebla and Ephesto & Euforia and Averno & Místico and Hijo del Fantasma & Mephisto and Dragon Rojo Jr. & La Sombra and Atlantis & Máscara Dorada and Blue Panther & Misterioso II [torneo]
5) Héctor Garza vs Último Guerrero [CMLL HEAVY]

Does the team scheduled to face Niebla & Maximo just get a bye? I think that’s the easiest way to go.

There’s no reason to do five matches here, everything is going to be super rushed and unsatisfying. If that was a straight cibernetico, they’d probably just do four matches, so not sure why they’re doing five when this will take even longer. Perhaps the Nueva Era will cause everything to be perfect!

(No.)

CMLL (SUN) 01/24 Arena Mexico
1) Astro Boy & Súper Camaleón vs Cholo & Durango Kid
2) Ángel Azteca Jr., Ángel de Plata, Fabián el Gitano vs Puma King, Skándalo, Tiger Kid
3) Eléctrico, Mascarita Dorada, Pequeño Olímpico vs Pequeño Nitro, Pequeño Warrior, Pierrothito
4) Rush, Sagrado, Toscano vs Dragon Rojo Jr., Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca
5) Brazo de Plata, Héctor Garza, Hijo del Fantasma vs Negro Casas, Terrible, Texano Jr.

Toscano, in the semimain, on 52MX, like clockwork. Terrible’s fighting Porky a lot all of the sudden.

  1. CMLL kicks off with Mascarita Dorada vs Damiancito from December. I’m guessing we get a bunch of lightning matches to kick off this week too?

  2. @Alan: Nope.

    52MX has
Fabián el Gitano, Leono, Tony Rivera vs Bronco, Puma King, Tiger Kid
Astro Boy, Hijo del Fantasma, Sagrado vs Dragon Rojo Jr., Naito, Sangre Azteca – they knew early about Astro Boy as a replacement to mention him in the open, hmmm.

  3. IWRG is the best it’s been in months. What’s the deal with their TV? Are we going to get Black Terry Jr. handhelds for the rest of the year? I hope so.

  4. just curious to know if anyone here watches Multimedios ACM on Comcast or Time Warner instead of the feed on the internet.

this is the worst show on television. Figueroa is a smart mark, and he can’t help put a good show together.

  5. @ohtani’s jacket: I thought they were supposed to be back on TVC Deportes this Monday with new episodes, which would probably mean Black Terry Jr. stops taping the stuff that’ll air. And probably they’ll back with Teleformula new stuff next weekend, if that deal hasn’t run out.

    @LLL: Storytime!

Back when I got this new spanish cable package running, I noticed I had Multimedios and wondered if it was the same Multimedios as in Mexico. I could not find a guide to confirm this, so I checked Saturday night as a whim. No sign of lucha libre. I did notice a show at show named something like Noche de Coliseo, and recorded it on a whim, just in case.

By the time Saturday came around, there was a conflict between that show and other stuff I was recording. I noticed Noche de Coliseo was listed as “Spanish, Comedy” with no other information and figured I could safely just skip it – surely, if it was lucha libre, they’d work that in there, right?

Yea, so, it’s two months later and I just now realized it’s on. I’m taping the last 10 minutes of it now, and will start uploading full shows next week. So dumb.

  6. Double checking – any other of this channels have lucha libre that I’m forgetting about?

  7. “Are we going to get Black Terry Jr. handhelds for the rest of the year? I hope so. ”

    Seconded.

Burned them to DVD just to see how it looks and it passed the test. Much more comfy to watch from the sofa than a computer chair.

IWRG is on the TVC guide for Monday unlike Puebla for tomorrow. Very curious.

@thecubsfan: Please don’t record ACM. You seem dejected enough having to watch the CMLL show… ACM might just totally kill your spirit.

Also, 1/24 is Arena Coliseo not Arena Mexico.

  8. @Rob: Looks like Puebla returns next week. If I had to guess, I’d say that Monday would wind up being Puebla instead of IWRG. The fact that they are listing it as IWRG on the guide probably means I’m wrong, but I have relatively little confidence in any of the guides down here.

  9. @LLL:

You don’t watch much TV do you? No way is ACM the worst. It’s not as bad as Impact or AAA these days.

Good show tonight. Really enjoyed the Zumbido match even if it did have Voltaije in it.

Cubs, WAPA TV has WWC from Puerto Rico. I love that they call Banderas not Mesias but “El Mega Campeon de AAA.” Airs Saturday’s 11-1 PM Est and Sunday 12 Noon.

  10. @Tim: Right after I posted that, Zumbido chased some guy all the way to the top row of the arena. That chase was funny as hell. And the angle with Hator Promotions is interesting. Still, ACM is not better than AAA or Impact. Not yet anyway.

You should go to Impact tapings.

Speaking of Impact, if there’s another Monday Night War, TNA will probably try to bring some guys in for the war.

  11. So once IWRG start taping again we won’t see the Thursday show? That sucks. Their Thursday show is miles better than the Teleformula stuff.

  12. Did AAA air already and was it the Chilpancingo taping or is there no show today due to football?

  13. AAA seems like it might be some sort of Triplemania retrospective. It starts out with a look back at Konnan losing his hair anyway.

Of course now we are on to a preview of the movie, so its hard to say what all we are getting today.

  14. Looks like they’re airing Triplemania on free TV.

I can’t believe they wasted 3 weeks of TV with this recap nonsense. At least CMLL only wasted 2 and also included clips of unaired stuff.

  15. @Rob: Triplemania is kind of unaired stuff. Odd that they aired the Mesias/Wagner match last week if they were planning on airing most of the show this week.

In other stuff that we didn’t think was going to air, TVC Deportes is airing Puebla right now. Looks like it is scheduled to get an hour and a half, and is opening with the locals.

  16. It is great to have the Zorro stuff airing months after they decided that they weren’t going anywhere with it.

  17. My definition of unaired stuff = stuff *I* haven’t seen. That’s not too selfish, is it?

Did AAA even hype Triplemania airing in full last week? Even CMLL manages to hype when they are about to air a big match on free TV.

  18. If there’s a week to not to air a new episode, and instead focus on something else this, this would be the week – they really need to push that movie as hard as possible, it means 10x as much to the company as a taping in January. Airing TripleMania sounds like the best way they have to get eyeballs, so they just need to be successful in hyping the movie.

  19. @Rob: They may have at the end of the show last week. I seem to remember there being TripleMania highlights after the Wagner/Mesias match, but I wasn’t listening to what they said and thought it was just “And this is other stuff from the show” leading into the rest of the year’s highlights this week. Probably was hype now that you mention it.

Metro/Fuego/Stuka vs Virus/Polvora/Dr. X is airing in Puebla. It would probably be easier to figure out what they were skipping if I had looked at the card from last week.

  20. Awwww no Millennium and Tigre Blanco teaming! At least you get Sombra, Porky and Strongman later.

The editors better be smart next week when deciding whether to air Tzuki’s match or not! (Yes, Tzuki IS showing up in Puebla!)

  21. I keep forgetting to mention it, but I’ve seen a few billboards for the AAA movie around town. I haven’t noticed any TV advertising, but I tend to watch cable when I’m not watching lucha and I’d think they would probably stick to the networks.

  22. I wonder why they didn’t list it in the program guide?

On the bright side for OJ, this must mean IWRG is in fact airing tomorrow and hopefully TerryJr can continue to record live IWRG even if they are taping for TV.

  23. @Rob: It wasn’t on the Cablevision guide earlier in the week. Pretty sure I checked on Friday and it wasn’t listed, so it must have changed pretty recently.

Surprisingly enough, they are airing the Mistico/Bucanero match!

  24. Now I wish I would have paid more attention yesterday. Does anyone remember the especial from 8/14 airing on the CMLL Best Of? It was Dorada, Valiente, Stuka vs Efesto, Misterioso, Virus. I recall a match like that being shown but now I’m not sure if it was that or Dorada, Valiente, Maximo vs Poder Mexica from 9/4.:/

You would have thought so, but no. Instead we are getting the Puebla replay. I’m starting to get a little worried that IWRG on TVCDeportes might be gone again.

  26. Perros are airing on TVCDeportes now. I’m pretty sure it is tha Acapulco show from December. I just caught the end of Black Spirit/Turbo vs Skayde/Black Thunder which looked fun. Now we’ve got Leo/Reveiro/Nova vs X-Fly/Scorpio Jr/Veneno.

Perros seem to be getting pretty regular air time on TVC lately. I’m pretty sure this is at least the third straight Monday.

  27. @Rob: They advertised “Next Week” as the Aguila/Psicosis/Hysteria match from Acapulco. Not sure what else is going to go with it since they aired the other three matches that there were results from the show today. Maybe the minis match did happen there? If they are smart, maybe they do two matches and some hype for the show on the 31st? I know that is hoping for a lot, but you can always dream.

I know its a baby step, but I’m happy that the Xfly/Charly stuff is actually leading to match. It will be a horrible match, and hopefully Charly doesn’t break another leg in it, but I’m pretty sure that an angle run on a Perros del Mal show has actually led to something on a future show. Yay for baby steps!

  28. @Alan: You can always dream, Alan. Unless your dream is Tzuki showing up for a booking…

(He’ll make Puebla tonight! I know it! I just know it!)

  29. “Now I wish I would have paid more attention yesterday. Does anyone remember the especial from 8/14 airing on the CMLL Best Of?”

Answering my own question via youtube: Yes it was the 8/14 especial.

  30. “Perros are airing on TVCDeportes now.”

Well I hope they keep airing as long as they keep delivering Skayde/Turbo/Black Thunder footage! Both PdM shows went up on youtube (via Lover_Ice who is still looking for donations if anyone is interested in helping) and weren’t too great but they were somewhat of a refreshing change from the dull AAA/CMLL products. Absolutely LOVED the openers and minis though.

Parka’s kid is very green but will only get better working with the usual suspects. Hopefully they leave him alone and let him improve instead of throwing him into the top of the card mix like Wagner’s ?fake? kid.

  31. @CM93: I don’t buy from him, I just donate. It’s to keep his youtube channel going along with stuff he uploads on megaupload. If everyone chipped in a couple bucks here and there he’d be covered but nobody seems to ever donate. The SegundaCaida guys are constantly reviewing his stuff and I’ve mentioned to them he needs donations to keep going on a regular basis but nothing. *shrug* I’ll put down a few more bucks tomorrow since he went nuts and uploaded a ton of shows today.

  32. @Rob: the warriorsx2000 guy is also with him right?

i like it when they upload classic shows on youtube. its nice to remember the good ol days

  33. @CM93: Warriorsx2000 is a different dude.

Skayde is 45 years young. I was also surprised at how fast he was moving b/c in his last Chikara appearence he seemed a bit slower than usual. But watching him and Turbo work together is just so fantastic. They do so many little things that are more innovative than any triple corkscrew plancha.

  34. @Rob: Have you ever been to a live Chikara? I’m going up north for a birthday, and want to see them live. Is it worth it?

  35. @CM93: Not really. I can’t even find time to upload matches certain folks have been requesting. Maybe when things slow down at work I’ll let you know.
