Mexico, Mex Trios title tournament, lineups

CMLL (FRI) 12/18 Arena Mexico [SuperLuchas, ESTO]
1) Delta, Leono, Trueno b Apocalipsis, Camorra, Inquisidor
2) Arkangel de la Muerte, Loco Max, Pólvora b Molotov, Rouge, Sensei
3) Astral, Eléctrico, Mascarita Dorada, Pequeño Olímpico b Pequeño Damian 666, Pequeño Nitro, Pequeño Warrior, Pierrothito
4) Sagrado b Misterioso II [lightning]
5) Mr. Niebla, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero b Hijo del Fantasma, La Máscara, Toscano
6) La Sombra, Místico, Volador Jr. b Mephisto, Terrible, Texano Jr.

Not much news out of this. Sounds like attendance was good, but that doesn’t mean much of a gate, with all three free tickets they gave away.

Dorada pinned Damian, not Pierrothito, in the atomicos match. No title match coming up there after all. ESTO kills the Sagrado/Misterioso, feeling all of Sagrado’s offense was cold and repetitive. Rey Bucanero got carried around on his teammates shoulders after they got the win in the semimain. Mistico & Mephisto did mask challenged after the main.

Fuego en el Ring caught up to Sangre Azteca when he was in Guadalajara, to talk about his travels to France and, like everyone else when talking to Sangre lately, ask what the deal is with Black Warrior. This time, Sangre said he’d be heading to the CMLL offices this week to get some resolution on the situation, but it sounded like a non-committal answer he gave just because there’s no real answer he could give.

Perhaps Sangre Azteca really did got to the CMLL offices, because we do finally have some resolution. To recap: Black Warrior hasn’t been seen in about two months, since shortly after losing his hair to Yujiro. The word about him since is he’s done with lucha libre and has moved on. The only problem is he was technically Mexican National Trios champ as part of Poder Mexica. Sangre Azteca & Dragon Rojo have already moved on, replacing Warrior with Misterioso, but they can’t change the titles that easy, the commission isn’t going to allow them just to change members of the champion trio. They’d have to give up the titles.

It appears that’s what happened. Starting Tuesday, there’s are elimination matches for the Mexican National Trios Championship. There is no mention about how many teams or how long the tournament will take yet – the news page doesn’t even mention the tournament – but the four teams entered so far:

  • Mascara Dorada, Stuka Jr., Metro
  • Cancerbros (Euforia, Virus, Polvora)
  • Angels (Oro, Plata, Azteca)
  • Guerreros Tuareg (Arkangel, Skandalo, Loco Max)

Mascara Dorada, Stuka Jr. and Metro have 0 previous appearances as a team. Off to a great start! The big question here is if it’s a 8 team tournament (which would indicate this is title is moving down a couple levels in importance) or a 16 one (who knows.) Guess the rest of the teams in the comments.

Comadante “debuts” on Sunday, so we should know if it’s a renamed La Nazi after that. Wouldn’t bet on the rudos to win on Christmas.

40 thoughts to “Mexico, Mex Trios title tournament, lineups”

  1. If the Lightning Match was as bad as ESTO says I really hope they just don’t air it and save time for the mini’s to air in full. You gotta figure the mini’s are airing with them booked again in the TV slot next weekend.

It’s not surprising at all what is going on with these trios titles. I complained back when they took the belts off Sombra/Volador/Sagrado to give it to a completely random team even if they were getting the big push at the time. CMLL *ALWAYS* does this. Trios belts should be for regular teams and not makeshift teams. So now here comes another tournament with a lot of regular teams and none of them will win. I guarantee it right now. CMLL will put over a completely random team rendering these belts useless once again. Maybe it’ll be Los Cancerberos who have barely been together a month and after winning the belts will split up. Either way this is going nowhere.

Cards look decent enough overall next week. Don’t suppose there is any chance CMLL will remember the GdA hate Los HdA, huh?

  2. Minis already starting on CMLL TV.

New entrances too. The ring announcer is being dubbed over by Riano who is describing everyone one-by-one and then they have new graphics also. It’s much better than before.

  3. First fall pretty much edited just to finish.

FWIW, Electrico and Astral are the same height.

Top 2 advertised, no mention of Lightning Match.

  4. Astral is so green. I can’t wait to find out which booker is his illegitimate father.

Not a very good match at all.

  5. During the carteleras segment it was announced the winners on Tuesday are the champions. No Block B. No Poder Mexica. No rhyme nor reason.

  6. Gonna quote Fredo now re: me making a list of dumb CMLL booking decisions from this year…

“You better keep at least one slot open on that list. There’s still about 2 1/2 weeks for CMLL to add to that list.:)”

  7. GdR has
Fabián el Gitano, Metro, Rouge (as Rush) vs Euforia, Nosferatu, Skándalo
La Sombra, Shocker, Strong Man vs Terrible, Texano Jr., Vangelis

    I hate you, Fox Sports.

  8. IWRG has
Bushi, Suicida, Zatura vs Fantasma de la Ópera, Oficial 911, Oficial AK47
Hijo del Cien Caras, Pirata Morgan, Veneno DQ Angelico, El Alebrije, Super Porky

They must do the introducts before the show or early on, because they hype Hijo del Lizmark for the main event.

Fantasma’s green/white outfit is horrific on TV.

  9. I like how they are re-writing history and saying Bucanero/Guerrero were best buddies before Bucanero got hurt. They barely teamed! Guerrero’s primary partner was Atlantis and Bucanero’s last title shot was with Atlantis as well.

It would still be awesome to see a Sombra/Volador vs Bucanero/Guerrero title match though. As long as the champs retained.

  10. New intros for CMLL suck. They totally ruined Mr. Niebla’s entrance by having the announcer talk over it.

  11. Okay, CMLL TV was just saved.

Mascarita Dorada, ?Bam Bam? and Quemonito beat up Porky Claus.

    YOUTUBE.

  12. Remember the days of AAA being accused of having only spotfests?

7 dives in the first two falls of today’s CMLL main event. More to come.

  13. They started to stay in the ring for a few seconds so the editors took care of that and edited straight to another triple dive (3rd of the match).

    10.

  14. AAA TV looks to have Sexy Star vs Fabi and Konnan vs Ciber as the headline matches which saves Wagner/Mesias and the elimination match for next week. Minis seem to be opening up.

  15. @CM93: The early part was pretty bad since it was just a couple of dives (including Divina’s accident) and then rapid-fire eliminations. But it picked up at the end and the Octcito vs Mini Abismo segment was great.

I don’t understand why they even had to include Parkita, Sagrada and Mini Chessman in this other than to show they were still around. A four way with Octcito vs Mini Abismo vs Mini Histeria vs Mascarita Divina would have been ideal with the winner facing Mini Charly right away in a quick match.

With Divina’s injury that will leave him out till at least the fall and Mini Abismo beating both Mini Charly and Octcito clean, I wonder what this means for the division in 2010. They really need to get some new talent in there but I don’t know of many U.S. midgets who’d be able to compete at that level.

  16. OK I just noticed that this is the forum for people to talk about the TV they just saw so I’ll re-post my message here.

The Guerra de Titanes part 1matches that just aired in Mexico were:

    -Minis match
    -Hair Match
    -Wagnermaniacs match
    -street Fight

Unlike past Guerra de Titanes events they did not have any clips of the wrestlers wishing people a Merry Christmas. It was the last episode before Christams and there was nothing Christamsy at all. I guess since Konnan is an athiest who doesn’t care about Christmas he figures that nobody else does either, even though he’s in a Catholic country.

On a more positive note they showed clips from next week and Latin Lover was coming to the ring in a Santa hat. Now there’s a class act, good for him for keeping the spirit of Christmas alive in a heathan AAA. Just for wearing the Santa hat he deserved his victory and future title match.
