Mexico, Perros del Mal, lineups

CMLL (FRI) 11/27 Arena Mexico [SuperLuchas, ESTO, Cesar]
1) Metálico & Starman b Durango Kid & Escorpion
2) Dr. X, Hooligan, Loco Max b Flash, Pegasso, Rey Cometa
3) Dark Angel b Amapola [lightning]
4) Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto b La Sombra, Toscano, Volador Jr.
5) Naito, Shigeo Okumura, Yujiro DQ Terrible, Texano Jr., Vangelis
6) Atlantis, Mr. Niebla, Último Guerrero b Héctor Garza, Shocker, Strong Man

A night for underdogs. From the second on up, the less favored side took the win.

Semimain went 2 falls. Japanese picked up the first fall clean, then the Mexicans got DQed for either a foul or some weapons shots on Yujiro.

In the main event, the rudos were finally able to take down Strong Man. Double suplex by Atlantis & UG, and a plancha by Niebla to finish him. Mr. Niebla was dressed like Santa Claus on the way to the ring. I dunno.

Rey Cometa got his leg caught into the ropes while going for his dive and was trapped for a while. Hooligan untangled him, but Cometa did not finish the match. Flash continues to wrestle as Flash, about 10 days after the announced name change.

TDN aired 2 and 3, so 4, 5, 6, should air on Televisa.

Texano talks to Fuego en el Ring about his two big matches in one week. He also says he and Terrible were not originally in NJPW’s plans for guys to bring over, but they so impressed them in a match that they made the list.

ESTO previews the Perros del Mal shows over the two weeks.

Cronicas y Leyendas looks back at Rey Mendoza vs Ring Fujinami.

SuperLuchas has a short piece on the lucha libre shows in New York last weekend. Haven’t seen anything much on those shows.

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update and Masked Republic’s Cease & Desist press release. Masked Republic’s store is open, a few days early.

CMLL (TUE) 12/01 Arena Mexico
1) Astral & Fantasy vs Pequeño Nitro & Pequeño Universo 2000
2) Dr. X, Durango Kid, Escorpion vs Guerrero Maya Jr., Sensei, Tigre Blanco
3) Ángel Azteca Jr., Ángel de Oro, Ángel de Plata vs Arkangel de la Muerte, Bronco, Virus
4) Blue Panther, Toscano, Valiente vs Averno, Dragon Rojo Jr., Mr. Niebla
5) Máscara Dorada vs Negro Casas [CMLL WELTER]

Astral gets his match. Some odd rudo sides this week. Can Dorada win two weeks in a row?

Friday’s, you know.

CMLL (SUN) 12/06 Arena Mexico
1) Metálico & Molotov vs Artillero & Súper Comando
2) Amapola, Hiroka, Mima Shimoda vs Dalis la Caribeña, Lady Apache, Marcela
3) Fabián el Gitano, Flash, Stuka Jr. vs Euforia, Pólvora, Virus
4) Metro, Toscano, Valiente vs Dragon Rojo Jr., Misterioso II, Shigeo Okumura
5) La Máscara, Máscara Dorada, Místico vs Mephisto, Terrible, Texano Jr.

Flash is still listed as Flash in DF. Maybe Euforia & Polvora can challenge for those tag titles.

Dalis is spelled “Daliz” this time on the poster.

Terrible & Texano, wrestling bald for the first time? (Probably not.)

  1. “Mr. Niebla was dressed like Santa Claus on the way to the ring” Kids beware, because if you act bad, Niebla Claus won’t put your name on some list. No, he’ll make you smell under his arm. You better not pout & you better not cry, because Niebla Claus is coming to get you !!

  2. WOW.

Dark Angel vs Amapola on TV right now!

    Why wow?

To fit it in – CMLL didn’t air the usual 10 minutes of bullshit they do to open a show! No intro, no commentators, no trivia segments!

  3. Starting to think this will be a really short show b/c we go straight from women to Toscano’s entrance.

  4. Interesting… they segway from the end of the first fall of the Toscano match to the announcers who say hi and then segway into the opening video to intro all the matches that will air.

  5. New graphics to hype what matches will air later too. Maybe CMLL does pay a little attention to the ratings…

  6. VAAAAAAAAAAAANGELIS! Now complete with music by Rammstein! Alan will be pleased he is done with “I’m Too Sexy”.

  7. Why are all 6 guys in the match using different Rammstein songs? Not to mention I think the Triad also used Rammstein in the previous match.

  8. So yeah….IWRG TV is fucked up, but its okay at least they got it right. Dr. Cerebro vs. Segura airing today. Now, I’m going to have to wait until next week’s show to finalize this dvd. LOL!

  9. Teddy hart has been pretty awesome on AAA today. First he took the Mari Apache Brain Buster right on the neck before almost breaking her back with his finisher. Just now he got his pants pulled down and kissed by Pimpi.

Oh and Daniel, they showed clips of the body building contest on CMLL. Sadly Super Porky wasn’t in it.

  10. AAA on FSE was a replay as expected. I didn’t catch the CMLL on FSE show, so hopefully I’ll run across a replay later in the week.

  11. C3 got the opener? NIIIIIIIIIICE! SEMENTAL ON MY TV! I recorded the show since I wasn’t home so I can’t wait to watch.

  12. SEMENTAL = WIN. All – by – himself!

Don’t know how anyone could watch that match and not see that Semental will be a star some day. He’s got it all. He’s like Ultimo Guerrero was in 1998 when he joined CMLL and was working pointless segundas.

  13. I think about 50 people were in the Arena when his match was on but he did look good. Kinda looks like Violencia before he lost his mask. Super Camaleon looked decent also. That Moonsalt to the floor would have looked better if he didn’t almost hit the ring with his chin doing it.

  14. Tercera on C3 could have been a lot better. I was disapointed. Especially by the result.

Also, these full screen ads are getting way out of control. It’s already annoying that they have 5 sponsors who get ads on the bottom of the screen in every fall of every match but now they have a shoe company that gets 1/2 the screen to plug their product for 20 seconds at a time per fall. WTF.

  15. I noticed while watching the CMLL 22/11 taping, that a lot of the rudos are favoured by the fans, then the technicos. Seems to be a big difference to even a year ago. I dunno. I don’t (can’t) watch much lucha libre. Just something I noticed.

  16. Just saw a commercial with Octagoncito advertising the Teleton on December 4/5 so best guess is no CMLL next week unless they move it to the AAA slot on Sunday which is a possibility because AAA has no episode in the can for next weekend even if they do end up getting scheduled for Sunday afternoon.

  17. Yeah but the action is moving fine so I’m okay with the blurry.

Thought that was a promo for the Psycho Circus returning to cause havoc in AAA… instead it was a promo for Dos de Tres. Can they really say “we are still undefeated!” without laughing if they only wrestle 2 TV matches per year?

  18. AAA’s new format of showing replays really makes the production completely minor league. They are showing a replay of Divina doing a big rana on Mini Abismo as you hear the crowd screaming for the huge dive he followed up with. Why would you show a replay instead of waiting till the sequence was over or at least cut out the audio so the crowd at home isn’t wondering what they missed?

It’s amazing how in a matter of weeks CMLL’s production values have completely passed AAA.

  19. So it was announced on WWC tv today that Mesias is going back to Puerto Rico on January 16th to face Carlito.

  20. @Rob: Yup. The replays on AAA are annoying, and they use a different video grade too.

You are right about the intrusiveness of the large billboards on C3. Funny how that show started out known for it’s very short commercial breaks, almost uninterrupted, and now it’s those crazy on-screen ads that are hurting the show.

  21. Two TV notes:

    1) YouTube tells me the Puebla segunda aired for sure. YAY!

    2) Seems like the new schedule post-Maximo vs Okumura is 52MX now gets the segunda and semi-main from Sunday which leaves FSE on the hook for the tercera and main. Which means I was all excited to see the Fuerza Aerea match and now… NO SUCH LUCK!

  22. Someone is going to get seriously hurt in that new CMLL women’s division. The new ladies are just way too clumsy and clearly don’t have any athletic ability at all.

  23. @Rob: i was watching some match on youtube and estrella magica tried a head scissors of the apron and she landed with her arm all bent back. it was very concerning.

  24. Just finished watching the Puebla show that aired earlier today. All five matches aired this week. The third fall of the semimain seemed to be clipped, not sure if anything else was cut.
