IWRG, CMLL, NJPW in Mexico,

IWRG (THU) 11/12 Arena Naucalpan [Al Filo del Ring]
1) Dinamic Black vs Comando Negro
2) Eragon & Star Boy b Epidemia & Heavy Boy
3) Bushi, Chico Che, Freelance b Avisman, Cerebro Negro, Gringo Loco
4) Arlequin Amarillo, Arlequin Negro, Arlequin Rojo b Jack, Trauma I, Trauma II
5) Hijo del Lizmark, Ultramán Jr., Zatura DQ Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro

Lizmark fouled 911, then faked his own foul to get the win. He’s a tecnico here, or at least that was the thought. Arlequin Negro replaced Arlequin Verde; no word on how that changed the betting line in Vegas.

Judging from the pictures on CMLL.com, Sunday’s special discounted Arena Mexico show did not draw at all. That shot is worse than most, but it does seem like CMLL’s reached the point where people aren’t even showing up for the cheap shows. Next Sunday Arena Mexico show is 12/13.

SuperLuchas says NJPW officals (president Naoki Sugabayashi, referee & booker Tiger Hattori – I didn’t know he was booker) are in Mexico this week to talk to CMLL about plans for 2010. According to the article, it’s CMLL who is looking for longer tours for it’s wrestlers, because flying a guy out and back for one show is expensive. Always figured it was the other way, where CMLL didn’t want to lose a Mistico for a week or two, but maybe it’s not been there call. The hope is there’d be much more cross pollination between the two companies next year, but they’ve clearly got to work on a few things.

AAA has a special sneak peak of the AAA movie today. It’s taking place at an unnamed mall in Mexico City, which makes it tough to actually go to. But they may have info today.

Al Filo del Ring posts a YouTube clip of Cibernetico singing with a band on a morning show. I think Cibernetico is a better wrestler than he is a singer.

Cesar looks at the CMLL comeback of the year and the CMLL concept of the year. I refuse to acknowledge end of the year awards in November!

Dark Angel and her TNA tag team partner Taylor Wilde will be participating in 2009 Freestyle Fitness contest.

Alex Koslov posted Alex Koslov’s golfing bit from AAA TV.

Diamo del Sur (via Zarco @ box y lucha) writes about retired wrestler Japaones Volador.

Ohtani’s Jacket checks out last week’s IWRG show. With a whole batch of lucha libre carrying Spanish language channels getting picked up many places around the country over this month, we’re about to see an increase in lucha libre ripped to YouTube and elsewhere. (If nothing else, I’ll probably end up doing it. Assuming Comcast gives me those channels Thursday.)

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update.

  1. attendance are bad right now. Just read some old WON from 2005, at this same time they drew 13000 – 15000 fans each week.

  2. This has nothing to do with the entry’s news, but I have a question. On ROH’s HDNet show last night, Necro Butcher and Grizzly Redwood wrestled Joey Ryan and Prince Nana, with the beards of Grizzly Redwood and Ernie Osiris on the line. So since Ernie Osiris lost his beard…does that make it an apuestas match?

  3. @LLL: Wait, a *3*? As in, lower than CMLL? I just want to make sure I’m not hallucinating.

Actually kinda surprised at first that Pacquaio got *only* a 21.5, but then I realized it probably wouldn’t have gotten that if they had put it on ESPN here.

  4. Also, I just noticed 21.2 was a 49.6 share. Half of all TVs on, that’s a pretty decent number.

  5. Yes. This is the first time I remember CMLL beating AAA. So AAA is losing serious ground in the ratings, WWE flucuates, and CMLL has basically been the same.

  6. Comparing current CMLL attendance to 2005 numbers isn’t fair at all. Comparing last year and this year or 2007 and this year would be much fairer.

I remember when CMLL had a press conference with Hector Guerrero of TNA which had a writeup much like the one on CMLL.com right now. We were promised (threatened with?) talent exchange, joint shows and huge title matches! We got… one combined CMLL/TNA Torneo and one return appearence by the MCMG. So don’t hold your breath when it comes to CMLL coming through on these deals.

That Koslov video is so amateur. Ripping off a Mr. Perfect skit from 1990! AAA is so fresh and innovative!

  7. @Rob: Next thing you know, Koslov is going start coming out with a manager named El Genio, who starts qouting poetry. :)

  8. CMLL has done a spectacular job booking No Limit… And although Mistico did get a Jr Title reign, I can see the logic in CMLL perhaps wanting to send a guy like Dorada to NJPW for an extended period to work regularly with guys like Lyger.

  9. I called the club in Queens that is having the show on Sunday. They said doors open at 1p and the show ends at 8p. zamoraentertainment.com has the telephone number.

  10. Who do you think will be going to NJPW from CMLL in 2010 and who from NJPW you’d think will be coming to Mexico.

I think Volador Jr could win the IWGP jr tag title.

  11. @bigkhrisdogg: For sure Mistico. That’s a given. He’ll probably head out there at least 2-4 times next year. Obviously Okumura will go to translate and maybe wrestle some smaller shows.

Rogue, Strongman and Leono! I think those are some of the guys Rob would want sent for extended trips to New Japan.:)

Most likely, Averno, Mephisto, Volador Jr., maybe La Sombra, Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca…

From New Japan, I’d assume its some lesser known guy. I’d go with some undercard Jr. heavyweight. This deal is more about CMLL guys getting tours to Japan than it is about bringing in big names from New Japan.
