11/13 Arena Mexico results (No Limit vs Terrible/Texano?), links

CMLL (FRI) 11/13 Arena Mexico [SuperLuchas, Cesar, ESTO]
1) Escorpion & René Guajardo Jr. b Bengala & Súper Camaleón
2) Estrella Mágica, Lady Apache, Lluvia b Amapola, Mima Shimoda, Yezca
3) Ángel de Oro b Arkangel de la Muerte [lightning]
4) Ephesto, Mephisto, Virus b La Máscara, La Sombra, Máximo
5) Shigeo Okumura, Tetsuya Naito, Yujiro b Averno, Terrible, Texano Jr.
6) Héctor Garza, Místico, Strong Man b Atlantis, Negro Casas, Último Guerrero

Clean tecnico win in the main event. Mistico got Ultimo Guerrero with La Mistica.

Ola Amarillo took the semimain in straight falls. Okumura got the pin on Averno in the first, Yujiro fouled Texano and got away with it for one pin in the seond fall, and Terrible got fouled and rolled by Naito while complaining about it. This led to Texano & Terrible challenging No Limit for a hair match, which sure sounds like the last major main event of the year. No date was put to it here, but figure it happening the first or second Friday on December.

Mima Shimoda fell to Lluvia in the women’s match for the deciding pinfall. On her blog, Mima says she’s got to visit the dentist after getting hurt in that match.

Nothing much of note elsewhere. Cesar says all the matches were good.

Hans Greeman has a collection of 20 full & partial 2001-2003 lucha libre posters, as an illustration of deisgn. For our purposes, it has a couple interesting lineups – do we have the wrong date for Brazo de Platino‘s mask loss?

Box Y Lucha looks back at Dizzy Gardenia Davis.

Cronicas y Leyendas writes about La Guerrilleras and Ultraman 2000.

No lineups.

  1. @Alan: Next week’s TDN matches (if they stick to the format) look so great that I will sereiously pay you to save the video tape and send it to me when you return to the States.

  2. Total random clips from the mini’s match on Momentos. Also, I’ve never seen a “El Senton” clip before.

  3. Gotta love CMLL airing interviews with fans who say they’ve never been to a CMLL show before, don’t know any of the wrestlers and look like they’d rather be anywhere than on TV at a wrestling show.

Way to push the product, CMLL!

  4. Adding fuel to the Black Warrior is gone from CMLL fire…

    ” LUCHA SEMIFINAL
    TOSCANO, MÁXIMO Y METRO
    VS
    EUFORIA, VANGELLYS Y NOSFERATU”

That’s on Tuesday but on TV just now they announced the rudo team as “Euforia, Vangelis and Black Warrior.

  5. Your not missing much Fredo. Lider just dropped Laredo Kid on his head with a Burning Hammer.

Who’s timing the matches for this AAA show? Kidman?

  6. Man what is wrong with Lady Pena’s face? And why does she still carry the urn? I thought Jack Evans smoked the ashes?

  7. How dare you insinuate AAA forgot their own skit!

Mistico sporting a half-Mistico/half-Tiger Mask mask. Pretty sweet.

  8. I want to see a Strongman/Negro Casas Lightning match for some reason.

That Goddess match was tough to watch. And that was just the entrances.

  9. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! Pinchi Robo! Que Barbaro Magadan!

I actually liked the finish of this cage match. Jack without a mask, but with that outfit, should get a top-hat and cane would be awesome.

  10. So how was the overall production of the show? Lots of noticeable edits or can IWRG even put togehter a show better than AAA?

  11. Maskless Yack with a tophat and a cane would cause El Dandy to fly into a murderous rage. Don’t make El Dandy angry. You won’t like him when he’s angry.

  12. @Rob: Similar to the IWRG on TV Azteca. Only lacking in that hot interviewing girl who did a great job being a heel.

I liked the show. The only thing I didn’t like was that they would cut to the guys for an interview as they were being eliminated, but it wasn’t so bad since cage matches are usually not that good so you don’t really miss much.

@tromataker: You realize that you just might have planted the seeds to a potential El Dandy & Yack team that would be known as “Dandy Jack”! Who wouldn’t want to see these guys do a cool little dance number stepping into the ring. Followed by a post-match dance number and departure to “Goodnight Irene”.

  13. Was there anything good enough on CMLL’s main show to be worth me trying to find it on tape? I mean besides Mistico’s mask.

  14. I wouldn’t call the team Dandy Yack, I’d call them the Eskimo Brothers. “Because of the cold in the far north, Eskimo hospitality extends to sharing of beds and female companionship. A visitor is considered a brother.” Yack could talk about banging a ring girl, and Dandy could say(in Spanish) “Son, I hit that like two years ago. ESKIMO BROTHERS”

  15. Konnan/Kenzo/Nicho/poder Norte vs Konnan Big/XPac/Latin Lover was something else. It was 7 on 3 and the tecnicos still won.

  16. Okay, IWRG is the greatest thing ever.

Jack now paints his face and looks like the ex-Comic if anyone remembers him.

Los Arlequins have four members now AND a manager named BUFON!

    I LOVE IWRG!

  17. AAA now shows full screen replays so they can edit much easier. Now they’re just taking large chunks out of each match.

  18. @Rob: That was the first thing I caught, but I flipped to it late.

Mantra doesn’t seem to be very good. Maybe he’ll look better in later matches.

Did the segment with Konnan/Zorro actually explain anything about Triplemania?

  19. @LLL: Well they’re obviously just inserting the replays when they want to clip forward in the match.

How anyone can watch AAA TV and buy Konnan’s claims that they’re production is equal to the WWE is beyond me. AAA TV is the most amateur production on television out of all the Mexican groups.

  20. Puebla is oddly opening with the Tercera. Very odd since it is listed as two hours and they opened the show with interviews of the local tag teams from the night. Presumably they are moving that later in the show, but that means the segunda is getting cut.

Oh, and Horus already botched a spot with Polvora. Glad this got included in today’s show.

  21. And Horus now either didn’t get enough distance on his dive, or Polvora just decided not to catch him. Hell of an opening fall guys.

  22. Yeah the live report said Horus was awful.:/ He’s really an average level flyer who always tries to do spots that he is completely incapable of pulling off.

I predicted top 4 were gonna air on Puebla b/c supposedly the opening tag with the locals had a ton of botches.

  23. @Rob: That’s too bad, I was looking foward to Milenium, but not if it was that bad. I’m predicting they air everything actually since the first two falls of the tercera took less than 10 minutes total. So, they edited down so that it was ONLY that bad.

  24. First fall of the segunda just finished in Puebla, so I’m guessing they aired the opener while I was watching football and AAA.
