Again, they tape this on Wednesday, and would have to air it on Sunday. This is not some impossible task – many television shows are actually broadcast live, I’ve heard! – but it’s not something they normally do.

Not that I’ve got a good feel for what AAA is doing here. No foreign women on this show (maybe because it’s Wed/Fri?) Air Force in action, but against some randomly appearing Exoticos. No sign of Fabi on either show, but that tag match on both. Unusual.

More interesting is the sides for the semimain and main. With Mesias and Wagner on for GdT, it’s very odd to see they’ve stopped fighting each other. The WagnerManaics are busy with the Legion instead, and Mesias is just getting the left over rudos. Maybe they’re just setting up Mesias to get some wins before the big match?

Maybe it doesn’t mean anything, but the referees this show are listed as Piero, Tropicasas, and “Fernando Landa”. Is Hijo de Tirantes not allowed to use that name any more?

  1. So if you honestly believe that Joe Lider must be the nicest guy in the world, what kind of explanation do you have for Rocky Romero’s existence in this promotion?

That opener is going to be so sad. The Fuerza Aerea guys are just going to destroy themselves hoping to get noticed while Konnan will be in the back ignoring the monitors and just planning his ten interview segments.

  2. BTW, there was a skit on AAA TV this weekend where Alex Koslov did the Mr. Perfect routine where he was playing golf and bragging about being a rich foreigner as random chick #1 & random chick #2 (probably the same random chicks that are working for the company but who can tell?) stood by as his caddies. They even did the deal where he takes a hard shot and they do a jump cut so we see he nailed the show perfectly.

Would have been an awesome skit if Koslov hadn’t delivered his lines like a 14 year old pretending to be Mr. Perfect on a home video.

In Antonio Pena’s AAA, Los Insectos would have jumped Koslov and put him in a bag. Ahhhh… sweet memories.

  3. by proper manner i mean he(it) would have gotten on its spaceship and tossed Alex in a bag on a faraway planet.

  4. But that kind of stuff isn’t entertaining! Fans want to see Konnan and Electro Shock have 10 minute meetings where they discuss absolutely nothing! Who needs to get new charachters over when you can spend time hearing Konnan say for the second straight year: “We’re gonna get the company this time!”

  5. @Rob: yo do u live in mexico? do u understand the culture? or do u just think you no lucha libre because you watch it? people come to aaa shows to see the stars like mesias, wagner, electroshock, vampiro, etc not the airforce guys or billy boy. the shows are put together to be like a wwe skewed to mexicans who live mexico. it is good u guys in the us like it but we dont think of you when put together shows. u understand?

  6. @konnan: It’s been ages since Rob was stumping for Billy, and he killed Super Fly on twitter this past weekend. Rob can speak for himself and I’m sure he will, but I think he stopped caring about those two when they stopped giving a crap. Probably because they way they’ve been treated.

Pretty clear the fans aren’t seeing your list of guys like they’re stars – ratings and attendance sure seem to bear out that twice as many people would rather see WWE than the same stars they’ve seen for years in the same spots. I guess Mesias is newer than most of them, but he’s being rejected more than anyone else.

Every boom has been driven by a new star or a new act. Maybe pushing Billy or Air Force to the top (again, back before they were unmercifully and pointlessly killed) wouldn’t have been the right guys at the right times, but the guys on top sure don’t seem to be the answer right now.

The last month has been more and more of the Konnan and Joaquin show, and the results have sure seemed to decline. Give the Mexican people some credit – they’re smart enough to spot a rerun when they see it.

As you say in your comment, AAA’s set to be a second rate WWE, a retread of ideas done elsewhere first and better. Sorry if you’re offended by everyone else pointing out how lame that makes your TV to anyone watched the WWE, but you may want to argue your case to the people in Mexico watching SmackDown and RAW in great numbers before coming for message board posters.

Why does your IP address say you posted from Woodstock, IL? That’s strange.
