Strong Man debuts in Arena Mexico, Piratas, lineups

CMLL (FRI) 10/09 Arena Mexico [SuperLuchas, ESTO, ]
1) Delta & Diamante b Disturbio & Escorpion
2) Dark Angel, Lluvia, Marcela DQ Amapola, Princesa Sujei, Zeuxis
3) Misterioso II b Máximo [lightning]
4) La Máscara, Sagrado, Valiente b Dragon Rojo Jr., Sangre Azteca, Virus
5) La Sombra, Máscara Dorada, Volador Jr. DQ Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto
6) Black Warrior, Shocker, Strong Man b Naito, Shigeo Okumura, Yujiro

Tecnicos won the main event clean, taking the last two falls. SuperLuchas says Strong Man looked OK, but should improve. Strong Man got Okumura with a chokebomb and Warrior hit his legdrop on Yujiro in the deciding fall. ESTO says Strong Man was very powerful, but showed no technique. Cesar says Strong Man was very charismatic, but needs to learn how lucha libre matches work. They aired a promo with Shocker and Strongman in between the last few matches.

DQ in both the 2nd and 5th were for mask pulls. Averno yanked Volador’s, and Sujei took Lluvia’s.

ESTO thought Delta looked really good in the opener. Cesar says Scorpion was injured in that match.

IWRG (THU) 10/08 Arena Naucalpan [EdR]

Pirates destroyed Oficials and demanded a title shot.

Dr. X did not know he was in a cage match until Fuego en el Ring asked him (Tuesday) how he thought he would do. Adjust your predictions accordingly.

El Hijo del Santo & Pirata Morgan main event a show at Congress Theater next Sunday.

Record has the first part of their magazine interview with Sagrado.

A new promotion in Tijuana held a press conference yesterday, saying they’d debut with LA Park, Super Parka, Super Porky vs Perro Jr., Damain 666, and Halloween on Halloween

Black Terry is #4 on Segunda Caida’s top of 2008.

CMLL (TUE) 10/13 Arena Mexico
1) Rayo Tapatío II & Trueno vs Camorra & Zayco
2) Delta, Metálico, Sensei vs Bronco, Escorpion, Puma King
3) Princesa Blanca vs Lady Apache [MEX WOMEN]
4) Máximo, Rush, Toscano vs Euforia, Shigeo Okumura, Virus
5) Mephisto, Terrible, Texano Jr. vs La Sombra, Máscara Dorada, Volador Jr.

Rush = Rouge. Not sure if that’s a name change or mispelling; if you listen to Magadan say his name, that’s probably how you’d spell it. Maybe it’s a just a description of the how CMLL is pushing him. Maybe he has a new robotic dog look?

CMLL (FRI) 10/16 Arena Mexico
1) Molotov & Starman vs Artillero & Súper Comando
2) Estrella Mágica, Lluvia, Marcela vs Amapola, Hiroka, Princesa Sujei
3) Hijo del Fantasma, Stuka Jr., Valiente vs Dragon Rojo Jr., Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca
4) Volador Jr. vs Averno [lightning]
5) Místico, Shocker, Strong Man vs Atlantis, Negro Casas, Último Guerrero
6) Black Warrior vs Yujiro [hair]

I don’t want to influence any yet to be opened polls, but Black Warrior winning the week prior seems to strongly hint at the outcome here. Both the Averno/Volador and Sujei/Lluvia issues seem to be ongoing. (Is Lluvia secretly Canadian? Maybe she just likes hockey?) Tercera should be really good.

CMLL (SUN) 10/18 Arena Mexico
1) Dr. Muerte & Practicante vs Aspirante & Infierno II
2) Bam Bam, Máscara Dorada, Pequeño Olímpico vs Pequeño Damian 666, Pequeño Nitro, Pequeño Universo 2000
3) Metro, Toscano, Volador Jr. vs Heavy Metal, Naito, Terrible
4) Flash vs Tiger Kid, Ángel de Oro, Pegasso, Tigre Blanco, Rey Cometa, Astro Boy, Hooligan, Dr. X, Skándalo, Arkangel de la Muerte, Pólvora [cage, mask]

Been a while since we’ve got an obvious fake out opener. Figuring a title match is to be added, and to be set up tomorrow. That show features

– Mascarita Dorada (Mexican Minis champ, though we never see that belt)
– Pierrothito (Mexican Lightweight)
– Máscara Dorada (CMLL Super Light)
– Último Guerrero (CMLL Heavyweight)

UG is the one most likely to make a difference in attendance, and you could have him face Shocker with Strong Man in the corner to tease that match. Plus, it works with Friday’s main event pretty well.

2009 AAA TV Chart
Projected Air Date (#909)
Mexico: 10/18
US: 10/31

In the middle of the show, Mesias came out for a promo – to challenge Wagner for a title shot. Again. Wagner talked with him, turned to leave, and got jumped by Mesias. Electro & Gladiador ran out and destroyed Mesias (who kinda deserved it), and Parka and Marco finally came out of the save. Mesias was strechered out.

When the main event came around, Octagon came out in Mesias’ spot, but Mesias showed up and insisted no wrestling. So he did, and Cibernetico beat him. HOORAY.

Electro beat Sugi in the semimain, just like Electro beats every cruiserweight. Sugi got stretched out, but when the Mexicans knocked him off the stretcher, Go got to beat Gladiador. Probably made for good photos.

Laredo got Scoria with a Spanish Fly, but Super Fly got the pin. Issues.

Sexi Star turned on Cinthia after their loss, and the Apaches came back to make the save. Maybe the foreign women are coming in full time and teaming with Sexi (even though they attacked her at the last show?)

Mini Abismo lost the opener by DQ for a piledriver. Which people have been using left and right without a DQ for a while now. Maybe because it was a martinete? Maybe because no one cares? That’s it.

Next taping is 10/19 in Leon.
