Starting December 1st, the US’s Federal Trade Commission will require all writers on the web to disclose all freebies or payments they get from companies for reviewing their products, in a clear and conspicuous manner, or get a massive fine. Massive fines are not in the luchablog/luchawiki budget this year, so now’s a good time to list all of the people who’ve sent freebies or payments to get their products reviewed on this here site:

I feel much better now. Actually, I do get a freebie, but since I think I’ve never gotten around to reviewing magazines (sorry!), I think I’m good on that. You know, there are sites where this bit would vastly more entertaining. (Not that this has a prayer of being enforced.)
Apparently, both Luchas 2000 and Box Y Lucha say Tiratnes Sr. has left AAA to join Los Perros del Mal. Just like Charly Manson, he was involved in major storyline (though it’ll be easier to remove Tirantes) and was a long time fixture of AAA. Tirantes had been a part of AAA since the very first show they put on, and obviously his son is a referee there too. Of the four AAA referees, Tirantes Sr. was the one who seemed to turn up on TV least in recent years, though he’d always work the major shows and often the main events when they wanted to do a disputed finish (2008’s TripleMania comes to mind.)
I’d always guessed Tirantes had some other backstage role and they were just phasing out of the ring, but maybe he didn’t and being off TV and off spot so much for the feud with the Roldans was costing him too much. All I know is, of the original people who worked on the first AAA show, only Octagon and Pepe Casas have been there the whole time.

ESTO hypes tonight’s Arena Mexico card as maybe Villano V getting along with this week’s partners (Terrible, Texnao) better than last week. The special match has five of the 12 in the mask match. With V5 in the main event, I’m thinking good tickets are still available.
As mentioned yesterday, Playmates toys will produce AAA action figures starting in 2010, as well as “role-play masks and play-sets.” Maybe you can buy a Laredo Kid mask and play the role of a guy who never gets out of the first hour. Cibernetico, La Parka, and Octagon are particularity name checked. This is deal done via the previous Cookie Jar deal. Besides all articles inevitably including a picture from a CMLL match, this is the weird part of the press release:

I’d love to see how they get 80%. Maybe 80% of ticket sales by revenue? Even that’s probably not right. Are they tracking CMLL’s attendance plus tracking AAA attendance and doing the mat, or just making things up? (Ah, there it is.) Also, check my math because I’ve been off lately, but 1992 to 2009 is 17. Anyway, getting back to things that actually matter, if AAA is going to be making their own action figures and their own masks, are they going to be selling them just in stores, or at AAA events? If they sell them at shows, will that mean the current gray market vendors are going to be pushed out? Times are changing.
AAA has notes from the Pena mass. Only non-AAA wrestler name checked as showing was Alebrije. Also, Javi still exists. AAA’s also on the radio tonight at 10 PM, and they’ve got web streaming link.
