AAA in Dallas, AAA/WWC (maybe), Mexico, Guadalajara

I keep forgetting to mention this, and it’s not going to last too much longer so I better get to it.

CHIKARA is offering a two dollar ($2US) DVD sampler thru SmartMarkVideo. (Deal is only in the US, sorry my friends in Mexico.) It’s 2 hours. It’s 5 matches. It’s really good stuff. If you a person who is interested enough in lucha libre to be reading this blog regularly and have not already checked out CHIKARA, you need to go buy this DVD right now. Stop reading, go do it! Deal ends 10/03, so you need to stop wasting time.

IN FACT, I’m going to make a one time offer. IF you are a regular on this blog (and I know who you are, because there’s really only like 13 of you) who hasn’t seen CHIKARA before, IF you buy this DVD and do not get your $2 worth, you can send it to me, and I’ll paypal you TWO DOLLARS back.

(I am making this deal because I do not expect to be paying any money back, and plus I will not pay your shipping costs so you’d might be losing money on the refund, but the principal is there. Also, it’s TWO DOLLARS. )

Go to SmartMarkVideo, order the DVD, enjoy the DVD. Actually, while you’re at SmartMark, go buy something else that looks good, because there’s no way they’re making money on TWO DOLLAR DVDs.

End free plug.

AAA will be returning to the US on 10/22 in Dallas, TX at the Escapade 2001 night club.

AAA (THU) 10/22 Escapade 2001, Dallas, TX
1) Fabi Apache & Octagoncito vs Mini Abismo Negro & Sexy Star
2) Crazy Boy, Marco Corleone, Súper Fly vs Killer Clown, Psycho Clown, Zombie Clown
3) Jack Evans, La Parka Jr., Laredo Kid vs Ozz, Silver King, Teddy Hart

That’s a lot smaller venue then they were running in California, though they have hosted lucha libre before. Tickets go on sale tomorrow, somewhere. (Thanks to LLL for pointing this out.)

Might not be the only show in the US this year. Apparently, Teddy Hart told the hosts of the Sunday Night Showdown show (on their latest show, around 2:03:50) about upcoming plans for AAA and himself. According to Teddy, AAA and Puerto Rico’s WWC have reached an agreement where each side will be sending a dozen over to work against each other, with a major AAA vs WWC show in Puerto Rico in December. Teddy also says he and Jack will be getting a tryout with WWE’s Florida Championship Wrestling in late October. IMPORTANT NOTE: This is coming from Teddy Hart, involves AAA doing something, plus it’s surely possible something may have gotten misunderstood here – it’s a 50/50 bet at best, and probably shouldn’t be thought about too much until/IF! it actually happens on TV. Even the hosts of the show point that out. Thanks to Latino718 for pointing this out to me.

CMLL (TUE) 09/29 Arena Mexico [ESTO, CMLL]
1) Camorra & Cholo b Freelance? & Súper Camaleón
2) Bronco, Dr. X, Escorpion b Diamante, Fabián el Gitano, Tony Rivera
3) Lady Apache, Lluvia, Marcela DQ Amapola, La Nazi, Princesa Blanca
4) Dragon Rojo Jr., Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca b Máscara Dorada, Sagrado, Stuka Jr.
5) Héctor Garza, Hijo del Fantasma, La Máscara b Atlantis, Heavy Metal, Ray Mendoza Jr.

As suggested, Atlantis and Mendoza could not get along. It appeared Mendoza cost his team the first fall, so Metal took Atlantis side. Rudos managed to get it together for most the second fall, but Mendoza got annoyed with his teammates, they kicked him out of the ring, and the tecnicos pulled them into campanas for the win. Metal and Atlantis beat up V5 after the match.

Semimain sounds good.

No word on the DQ in the women’s match, but I’d assume Blanca pulled Lluvia’s mask again. CMLL mentions the DQ but doesn’t even show a picture of it.

CMLL lists the opening match partner of Super Camaleon as “Freelance”, but it’s a masked guy who doesn’t appear to be the Freelance we all know. It was supposed to be “Freesbee”, and it probably still was, but we’ll wait for the correction.

CMLL (TUE) 09/29 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [Fuego en el Ring]
1) In Memoria & Relampago Azul b El Divino & Meteoro
2) Angel del Mal & Drago b Idolo & Metatrón
3) Gallo & Palacio Negro b Malefico & Rey Trueno
4) Mictlán & Rouge b Shigeo Okumura & Virus
5) Ephesto, Terrible, Texano b Máximo, Shocker, Toscano

Rudos appeared to have won clean. Rouge hurt himself on a dive in the third fall of the semimain, but was able to recover enough to get his hand raised. Amusing to see Okumura lose here given the push in DF.

The Gladiatores has an interview with Charly Manson, who might have a little to talk about. There’s also a text interview with Oriental about his career and look, and more video interviews with Pantera and a two part interview with UWA wrestler Babe Face

Estrella del Ring has text interviews with Cuernavaca wrestler Eddy Vega and Acapulco’s Captian Atomo.

Hablando de catch takes a look at the work of the primary belt maker in Mexico, Santos Rodriguez and his many belts. He started out as a wrestler, as Estadio de Mexico lightweight champion, who wanted to have a copy of the belt, so he learned how to make them. I didn’t notice this before, but upon close inspection of the CMLL Universal Championship, it appears Rodriguez agrees with those who no longer rate Pluto as a planet.

Kcidis has a picture of Solar.

Ohtani’s Jacket watches Policeman vs Centella de Oro from the Arena Puebla anniversary show

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s update.

  1. So Mr. LLL, if you could be a sweet pea and shed some more information on that AAA Dallas show for me, I’d surely appreciate it. I can’t seem to find any stinkin’ info about it anywhere!

  2. John G. I don’t think we’ll know much more until the week of the show. Seriously. The lineup will change many times for sure. I might be there. I have to go the Dallas in October, and will try to work the show in.

  3. So I call the venue that this Dallas AAA show is going to be held at…and they had no idea what I was talking about. The woman told me to call her back at noon so she could find out herself. It’s never good when the venue knows as little as you. But, those’re Mexicans for you. We’re a very haphazard people.

  4. Now they tell me to call back at five. I shoulda known buying tickets to a AAA show would be just as much of a clusterfuck as the shows themselves.

  5. If you seriously watch the CHIKARA DVD and don’t like it, tell me (I am easy to find) and I will pay your share, and to the amount to send it to me.

My other enquirement, is that I call you a friggin idiot for hatin on CHIKARA.

  6. ARE WE SURE THE EVENT IS IN DALLAS? CAUSE THAT ESCAPADE 2001 LINK SAYS THE PAST EVENT WAS IN HOUSTON IN THE INDY RESULTS

  7. @Anonymous: I didn’t notice that before.

There is an Escpade 2001 in Houston as well, but both the main AAA site and luchalibreusa say Dallas on their sites. Of course, luchalibreusa’s site is down now. Hmmm.

Houston’s site says nothing about the event, but there is no Dallas site.

    I think John’s screwed here.

  8. THIS WAS JUST POSTED ON A SEXY STAR FANSITE ON MYSPACE, NOT REALLY ANY NEW INFO, BUT THOUGHT TO POST IT ANYWAYS:

    Jueves 22 octubre del 2009 a las 08:00:00 PM
DALLAS, TEXAS EN EL ESCAPADE 2001

LA PARKA, JACK EVANS Y LAREDO KID VS. DARK OZZ, SILVER KING Y TEDDY HART.

CRAZY BOY, MARCO CORLEONE Y SUPER FLY VS. KILLER CLOWN, PSYCHO CLOWN, MURDER CLOWN Y MONSTER CLOWN.

  9. John. You’re acting like an American. This is a small Lucha Libre spot show in a club, that is weeks away. Just wait until the Monday of the show or something like that, for tickets and complete info.

  10. @LLL: I can’t help it, bro. I’m OCD. I wanted my tickets bought as soon as Cubs posted last night.

  11. This morning, they were able to tell me where I can get the tickets; a taqueria and a restaurant. I love Mexico.
