Charly Manson, double hair loss in IWRG, Friday previews, Puebla

Televisa Deportes has quotes from the Roldans about Charly Manson’s departure. Charly told Marisela (in person) that he was no longer comfortable in AAA and wanted to leave. Joaquin says they’ve been quiet, because there is a contract involved and there may be legal consequences. (I hope they try, because it’d be fantastic to have that contract in public record. Also, kinda would figure there was no contract.) There will be a hair match Saturday, but there’s not even hint at a replacement. Either they have no idea, or they’re still hoping to change Charly’s mind.

In it’s newsletter, AAA says they’ll have live coverage of Heroes Imortales. I *think* I will too, for the mystery main event if no other reason, but I’ve got some other things going on Saturday.

IWRG (THU) 09/24 Arena Naucalpan [EdR]
1) Guizmo b Extrano
2) Imperio Azteca & Miss Gaviota b Black Thunder & Hijo del Signo
3) Eragon & Jack b Blasfemia & Xibalba
4) Bushi, Exodia, Freelance b Avisman, Gringo Loco, Tóxico DF
5) Chico Che & Rigo b Arlequin Amarillo & Arlequin Rojo [hair]

Rudos took the first, tecnicos the second. Chico Che accidentally fouled Rigo, and Rojo pinned him to make it 2 on 1. Chico Che managed to plancha Rojo to even it up. As Chico & Amarillo fought, Rojo came in. Referee noticed and kicked him out, missing Rigo throw a drink in Amarillo’s face. Chico Che tied him up for the win. Rojo lost his mask and hair in 8 days. IWRG!

Freelance pinned Avisman in straight falls, so that’s setting up a title match rather soon.

ESTO highlights the lightweight title match, which has totally been lost in the shuffle and probably should’ve been saved for a different show. (Also, everyone expects Pierrothito to romp to a win.)

Tiger Kid wants to win the Gran Alternativa and then team with Pesta Negra from there. So he’s got the same ideas as everyone one else. He’s ready to face any of the tecnicos, but he particularly hopes he and Niebla run into Mistico so he can gain some revenge for Negro. I don’t quite see that happening.

Luchando Libre previews the tournament and the big title match.

Ovaciones pegs Mistico/Oro, Averno/Polvora and Toscano/Rouge as the favorites.

Shocker talked about his situation in GDL – interviews appears on both Fuego en el Ring and SuperLuchas – and says CMLL thought he was hurt (and he did hurt his nose – hmmm), so they pulled him off the anniversary show, but he obviously isn’t hurt because he worked the Guadalajara shows. He was planning on meeting with CMLL yesterday to sort it out and hoped to still end up on tonight’s show. I don’t know how this will turn out, but he doesn’t sound like someone who wants to leave CMLL.

Fuego en el Ring also has an interview with Mistico, who says NJPW sent their best to take their title back, so he’s going to train 100% this week to beat Liger. Mistico feels like he’s the lucha libre equivalent of (Mexican soccer team) America – people come to boo him or cheer him, he’ll just worry when the people stop doing anything at all. Also, Metal Blanco is sad.

Estrella del Ring talks to Xiablva, who says he hasn’t been in IWRG due to the economy but will back soon. They also talk to his son nephew, Crazy Rock. You can totally see the family relationship in the face. EdR is also having a trivia contest for Pandemonium masks.

AAA has a bio of Go Shiozaki. It’d be nice if they introduced him on TV before just throwing him out there, but probably not.

AAA doesn’t mention it on their site, but DTU says they’re opening AAAcademia, a training school affiliated with AAA. DTU having a school is great enough on it’s own, but with the hope of making to a promotion that doesn’t want new Mexican wrestlers and doesn’t pay them all that much just takes it up a new level.

Sounds like a AAA spot show in Toluca was canceled – after all the fans were already in the building. Promoter said it was due to finical issues.

DJ Spectro has an interview Legionario about his career.

CMLL (MON) 09/28 Arena Puebla
1) Black Tiger, Lestat, Milenium vs Mr. Rafaga, Sauron, Siki Osama
2) Ángel Azteca Jr., Ángel de Plata, Sensei vs Artillero, Pólvora, Súper Comando
3) Flash, Metro, Stuka Jr. vs Euforia, Nosferatu, Skándalo
4) Atlantis, Black Warrior, Mr. Niebla, Último Guerrero vs Naito, Ray Mendoza Jr., Shigeo Okumura, Yujiro
5) Místico vs Jushin Liger [IWGP JH]

Between this and Friday’s match, perhaps Liger is giving back his wins on his way out of Mexico.

  1. Unless I’m reading the interview wrong, Crazy Rock is Pandemonium’s son, Xibalba is his uncle. Pandemonium & Xibalba are brothers

  2. “Rojo lost his mask and hair in 8 days. IWRG!”

The story can only finish with the ‘IWRG!’ remark if he now disapears for a few months before taking on a new gimmick.

Why can’t Puebla have a site like Guadalajara does? I want a photo of Milenium!

Poor Metal Blanco. I have no idea why CMLL wouldn’t want a poor version of Sagrado.

  3. when you think about it, this charly manson situation, if done right, could make for a great storyline where they pull the wool over all our eyes. but i don’t see them following through properly if that was the case. would be nice though if they were working together to fool everyone. would make for a nice work-shoot.

  4. @Alan: Heads up Mr. TVC – 3pm on Sunday (directly against AAA TV) they are showing the CMLL San Luis Potosi show! (Now we know why it was hyped as a TV taping)

    1) Calígula & Méssala b As Jr. & Guerrero Maya Jr.
    2) Astro Boy, Pegasso, Rey Cometa b Euforia, Nosferatu, Virus
    3) Bam Bam & Mascarita Dorada b Pequeño Damian 666 & Pequeño Warrior
    4) Heavy Metal, Terrible, Texano Jr. b Sagrado, Stuka Jr., Valiente
    5) La Sombra, Místico, Volador Jr. DQ Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas

Probably just top 4 which is good enough for me.

  5. @Rob: Thanks for the head’s up.

Hoping the opener and Pierrothito’s match get on TDN tonight, but since they only give it a half an hour probably will be lucky to just get one of the two. But, right now they are showing a boxing match from before I was born…

  6. Dr. Lucha is so smart. This tournament is on RADIO.

Yujiro/Okumura (kicked Semental out of the tournament) beat… that’s right… BEAT… that’s right… MOTHER FUCKING DEFEATED Toscano and ROUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE!

    LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSER!

  7. SL w/ the undercard results…

    # Stuka Jr., Flash y Metro vencierón. Arkángel, Skándalo y Loco Max.
    # CAMPEONATO NACIONAL LIGERO: Pierrothito© venció a Pequeño Eléctrico. Reteniendo el título
    # LOS HIJOS DEL AVERNO (Mephisto, Texano Jr. y Hefesto). vencieron a Volador Jr., La Máscara y Toscano.

  8. Opener is airing on TDN…Awesomely displayed as ASTUKA JR., Flash, and Metro vs Arkangel, Skandalo, and Loco Max. Who new As and Stuka had a love child?

  9. Dr. Lucha w/ updated result…

Averno/Polvora over Garza/Angel De Plata in first round action.

    So semi-finals have:

    Averno/Polvora vs Yujiro/Okumura

Mistico/Angel De Oro vs winner of current match

It’s 10:45pm, still 3 tournament matches left and then Liger vs Ultimo will be forced to do a 5 minute 3 fall match.

  10. Niebla’s team wins and faces Mistico/Angel De Oro in the semi-finals.

Smart money has to be on Mistico/Angel De Oro vs Averno/Polvora finals…

  11. Mix-up…

Garza/Angel De Plata won round 1 over Averno/Polvora.

Now I just want Mistico/Angel De Oro vs Hector Garza/Angel De Plata for shits and giggles.

  12. @Rob: Nice that they are going with Mistico/Angel vs Niebla/Tiger Kid in the semis though. Should be fun. Or we might all just wind up annoyed at how short all of the matches wind up being.

Opener was fun, as would be expected from these guys. I’ll be interested in hearing what others think tomorrow, but I think the changes to Arena Mexico have it looking better on TV.

  13. Yujiro/Okumura over Garza/Angel De Plata.

I hope the commision forces Semental to replace Okumura in the finals.

  14. On a totally different subject, here is the AAA 10/9 taping in Xalapa. There will be a pretty big Lucha Report tomorrow after taking the last 3 days off.

10/9 – Arena Xalapa (TV taping)
    1. Mascarita Sagrada/Mini Charly Manson/Octagoncito vs. Mini Abismo Negro/Mini Histeria/Mini Psicosis
    2. Fabi y Mari Apache vs. Cinthia Moreno & Sexy Star
    3. Laredo Kid/Octagon/Super Fly vs. Cuervo/Escoria/Ozz
    4. Wagnermania (Dr. Wagner Jr./Electroshock/Ultimo Gladiador) vs. Los Yakuza (Go Shiosaki/Sugi San/Kenzo Suzuki)
    5. Marco Corleone/El Mesias/La Parka Jr. vs. Cibernetico/Joe Lider/Nicho el Millionario

  15. Looks like only one match tonight, but I’m sure the in studio Felino interview they are doing instead is just as interesting. If I could understand it. Or if he were wearing his Peste outfit.

  16. Told you. Wagner is gonna work the hardest he has in years hoping to get a NOAH gig.

I think you made one typo though. Who is Super Fly? New guy making his debut?

  17. BTW, Dr. Lucha says Terry Funk is in Arena Mexico and spent 40 minutes doing an interview on the radio during the first two matches.

  18. Gran Alternativa finals…

    Mistico/Angel De Oro vs Yujiro/Okumura

Angel De Oro is technically your Gran Alternativa winner by default.

  19. Wait, it’s 11:17 and they haven’t gotten to the main event? Lyger and UG are going to get 8 minutes.

  20. Yujiro and Okumura?? Holy shit Okumura won against Mistico?? I better buy some thermal underwear because Hell just froze over. Not that I mind the “No Limit” guys and all, but they better put someone over big time when they leave CMLL.

  21. I should’ve done a chat for this. Live and learn.

2 of 3 falls, apparently. And Naito & Atlantis showed up just to second, which probably means an angle.

  22. So that I don’t make my prediction sure to be wrong too late, I think Lyger wins one of the two title matches. Don’t know which one, but I don’t see him losing two title matches just a few days apart.

  23. Guessing TV tmrw will have a heavily edited Electrico/Pierrothito match, the semi-finals and final of the Gran Alternativa and the main event + a Terry Funk interview.

  24. If this were any promotion other than CMLL, I would be expecting Terry Funk becoming involved in the main to set up Funk vs Ultimo for the heavyweight title.

  25. Preview of tomorrow’s update: Ultimo Guerrero was the oldest known GA novato winner previously. Okumura beat him by 10 years.

  26. I’ve seen Go Shiozaki at a few FIP shows. He’s good. I always figured he’d end up in AAA for some reason.
