San Juan, previews, lineups

I’m headed to the Dragon Gate US show in a few hours, so I figured I’d do this now and not even have to worry about it whenever I get back. I’ll be twittering about the show @luchablog – count how many people I miss identity! – and probably doing a post about it later. Tomorrow is a holiday here, but there will probably be an update at some point.

CMLL (FRI) 09/04 Arena San Juan Pantitlan [EdR]
1) Halcon Tarin b Espectrito I, Boricua, Malevo, Rey del Espacio II, Colombiano, Nino de Ebano, Caricia, Cachetada, Diva Salvaje, Pegasso Black, Chamaco Badillo, Black Dog, Payaso Kulkitaka
2) Cassandra, Estrella Magica, Luna Mágica b La Nazi, La Seductora, Lady Sensacion
3) Rayo Tapatío II, Tony Rivera, X-Fly b Infinito, Miserable, Ricky Ricon
4) Kai, Starman, Super Brazo, Super Muñeco b Arkangel de la Muerte, Dr. X, Nosawa, Pierko el Boricua

AJPW guys got in and worked the show. Luna Magica is back in the ring, though not on any CMLL lineups yet.

Ovaciones previews this afternoon’s Arena Coliseo show, as Garza preparing for his singles match on Tuesday. Weirdly, they’ve got a different semimian in the article – Sagrado/Dorado/Mictlan vs Lizmark/Mephisto/Ephesto – then in the ad right below the article (Atlantis & Warrior in for Mephisto & Ephesto). Ad also has the minis match as the tercera, which would put it on TV (in theory anyway.)

Meanwhile, AAA tapes TV tonight in Tula, Hidalgo. Hyped main events are Wagnermaniacs vs Mesias & Team AAA and the first Gronda on Gronda action in an official match. Real item of interest is the Aero/Fabi vs Oriental/Cinthia match for the Mixed Tag titles. AAA still hasn’t acknowledged LuchandoLibre’s story about Oriental being done here – AAA’s too busy talking about other people being done in AAA, I guess – but if you’re somehow on the fence about it, SuperLuchas has Oriental working the main event of a Perros show in a couple weeks. I hope he gets ones of those $7000 paydays I’ve been reading about!

In other paragraphs that are just going to result in trouble, AAA has a official hi5 page. The promotional device is set to private. Of course it is! Let’s see if they approve my friend request.

SuperLuchas #330 has more on Mistico & Negro, plus interviews with Scorpio Jr. and Alex Koslov. If I was rating my belief in Alex actually leaving AAA and going back to CMLL from a scale of 1 (staying) for 5 (going), I think the interview dropped me from a 2.0 to 1.5. Posing in front of Arena Mexico counts as trying to hard. (By all rights, I should be thinking it as a 4, so we’ll see.) SuperLuchas times last Sunday’s IWGP title match as going 12:04, off falls of 4:14, 2:41, and 5:09, if the NJPW fans still need that info.

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update

Lineups:

CMLL (TUE) 09/08 Arena Mexico
1) Sensei & Trueno vs Artillero & Súper Comando
2) Ángel Azteca Jr., Angel de Oro, Angel de Plata vs Arkangel de la Muerte, Nitro, Skándalo
3) Mascara Dorada, Sagrado, Stuka Jr. vs Pólvora, Vangelis, Virus
4) La Sombra, Valiente, Volador Jr. vs Dragon Rojo Jr., Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca
5) Héctor Garza vs Mephisto

Polvora in the tercera? Huh. Garza/Mephisto is not a hair/mask match, or a title match for that matter.

IWRG (THU) 09/10 Arena Naucalpan
1) Imperial vs Comando del Diablo
2) Bushi, Exodia, Turbo vs Carta Brava Jr., Gringo Loco, Heavy Boy
3) Avisman vs Freelance
4) Masada & Nosawa vs Bobby Lee Jr. & Suicida
5) Ricky Cruz & Scorpio Jr. vs Máscara Año 2000 & Pirata Morgan

Avisman vs Freelance does not appear to be a title match. Hey, Turbo.

CMLL (FRI) 09/11 Arena Mexico
1) Diamante & Starman vs Camorra & Escorpion
2) Eléctrico, Pequeño Olímpico, Último Dragoncito vs Pequeño Damian 666, Pequeno Nitro, Pierrothito
3) Máximo, Mictlán, Rouge vs Euforia, Nosferatu, Vangelis
4) La Máscara vs Terrible [lightning]
5) Blue Panther, Héctor Garza, Toscano vs Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas
6) Atlantis, Black Warrior, Último Guerrero vs Jushin Liger, Naito, Yujiro

So much for Liger coming in as a tecnico? Again, he seems very much paired up with UG. No Mistico on the lineup the week before he main events, though he may yet put in an appearance.

CMLL (SUN) 09/13 Arena Coliseo
1) Astro Boy & Molotov vs Disturbio & Semental
2) Guerrero Maya Jr., Pegasso, Rey Cometa vs Arkangel de la Muerte, Loco Max, Skándalo
3) Dark Angel, Lluvia, Marcela vs Hiroka, Mima Shimoda, Princesa Blanca
4) Máximo, Stuka Jr., Valiente vs Dragon Rojo Jr., Sangre Azteca, Shigeo Okumura
5) La Sombra, Místico, Volador Jr. vs Jushin Liger, Tetsuya Naito, Yujiro

It’s “Disturbio” here, so someone figured out his name between the time they sent out the Puebla lineup and these. Always good to see them remembering to do Liger/Mistico on some level.

CMLL (SUN) 09/13 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Idolo & Thunder Boy vs Güero Loco & Relampago
2) Astaroth & Virgo vs Ebola & Fraile de la Muerte
3) Metal Blanco & Palacio Negro vs Mr. Trueno & Rey Trueno
4) Flash, Mascara Dorada, Sagrado vs Ephesto, Mephisto, Misterioso II
5) Héctor Garza, La Máscara, Toscano vs Atlantis, Mr. Niebla, Último Guerrero

IWRG (SUN) 09/13 Arena Naucalpan
1) Talisman Jr. vs Blasfemia
2) Miss Gaviota & Star Boy vs Insolito & Memphis
3) Gemelo Fantastico I, Gemelo Fantastico II, Jack vs Brandon, Capitán Muerte, Gringo Loco
4) Bushi, Chico Che, Exodia vs Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro
5) Ricky Cruz, Stuka I, Trauma I vs Fuerza Guerrera, Juventud Guerrera, Veneno

Looks like Super X vs IWRG is starting back up again, though Stuka I is unexpected.

  1. Have fun at DGUSA!

Tuesday’s C3 taping looks really fun even if they do end up switching Sagrado/Mascara Dorada around. Definitely looks way better than that awful Friday show. Next week’s TV is gonna be piss-poor unless we are getting some undercard stuff to make up for no TV taping next week. But even then… besides the mini’s squeaking on who really wants to see the strippers against the new Infernales? Well, besides Dr. Lucha.

  2. Is there any way this video can help us figure out CMLL booking?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6LPk7h9ualM

BTW, CMLL.com clears up the Tuesday confusion…

    LUCHA SEMIFINAL

    VALIENTE, SOMBRA Y ***SAGRADO***
    VS
SANGRE AZTECA, DRAGÓN ROJO JR. Y MISTERIOSO JR.

    LUCHA ESPECIAL

    ***SAGRADO***, MÁSCARA DORADA Y STUKA
    VS
    VIRUS, PÓLVORA Y VANGELYS

    … or not.

  3. Puebla opens up with a recap of the leadup to the trios title match. This is followed by a spectacular in ring/empty arena segment with Niebla and Felino. OK, I didn’t understand a word that was said, but it was still awesome. Apparently, Niebla spends his time reading newspapers in the ring when noone is around.

We’re also informed byt he announcers that this is the one year anniversary of Puebla on TVC Deportes. We celebrate with fancy new graphics (featuring all the local luchadors) and an opening match that starts out in what appears to be a still empty arena.

  4. Looks like the segunda is going bye bye. Was hoping to get to see Hooligan, even at the expense of him trying to make Leono look good, but I guess they have to air the semimain to set up next weeks singles match. On the bright side, we get the Tuaregs, but sadly only Loco Max is rocking the Mohawk this week. Maybe they can make Maximo an honorary member?

  5. Hey it’s Mascara Dorada on TV! YAY! Even with Maximo involved I’ll take that match over the segunda with lazy bums Starman, Leono and Bronco.

  6. @Rob: I definitely agree that the tercera was the way to go if choosing between those two.

Yujiro almost killed La Sombra in the semi. Menodoza tossed him over his head and Yujiro caught him in what should have been a powerslam, but brought him down right on his shoulder instead.

More awesomeness from Pesta leading into the main.

  7. They’ve been listing big moments over the last year and things like that heading into commercials. I had forgotten that Dragoncito/Fire’s mask match was in Puebla. I was in the US when it happened and just sort of assumed that it wasn’t on TV.

Is it worth checking out? Does anyone know if the whole thing is on Youtube? It looks like Wagnermania has the third fall, but I didn’t notice the first two falls anywhere.

  8. @Alan: It was only a one fall match. Very strange since nobody announced it as such and when it ended I don’t think the crowd even understood.

  9. @Alan: Correct. I can’t imagine either was hurt b/c they did a lot of neat stuff in the one fall. One of the great unexplained mysteries…

  10. I thought the title match was fun. The third fall in particular seems like it would have been great live (or if I had kept myself from finding out the results before seeing it).

  11. ESTO says tmrw’s Arena Mex show indeed has VALIENTE, VOLADOR JR. AND SOMBRA in the semi-main with Sagrado being demoted to tercera opposite Polvora. I’m not complaining b/c:

    a) that semi-main tecnico team is GOLDEN.

    b) I like this kind of booking that mixes up the lower guys with top guys. Arena Neza-esque.

  12. I forgot to check Fox Sports at 9:00 on Saturday to see if any Lucha actually aired there. I don’t seem to remember it being listed when I was looking at the guide after C3.

This weekend, the only Lucha listed on Fox Sports is on Saturday at 9:00.
