IWRG, GDL, Coliseo, etc lineups

IWRG (THU) 09/03 Arena Naucalpan
1) Terry Brow vs Talisman Jr.
2) Exodia & Miss Gaviota vs Blasfemia & Vampiro Metálico
3) Bushi, Chico Che, Freelance vs Avisman, Gringo Loco, Toxico DF
4) Bobby Lee Jr. & Scorpio Jr. vs Espanto Jr. & Head Hunter I
5) Sangre Chicana vs Villano III

I’m assuming this is the same Hijo del Espanto/Espanto Jr. who was here in 2006. They’re focused on the older guys this week. Terry Brow is the opening match debut of the week.

PROLLM (SUN) 09/06 Coliseo Coacalco
1) Fiebre vs Sangre Latina
2) Benny Black vs Net Warrior
3) Skayde & Turbo vs Black Thunder & Guerrero Negro
4) Niebla Negra I vs Maldito
5) Angelico, Magnifico, Negro Navarro vs Arkangel de la Muerte, Dr. X, Judas el Traidor

Turbo working the Skayde special match here would probably mean his match on Friday really just is a tryout and they don’t have control of his schedule yet.

CMLL (SUN) 09/06 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Astaroth & Virgo vs Fraile de la Muerte & Titanio
2) Angelo & Metatron vs Acertijo & Rafaga
3) Gallo, Hierro, Metal Blanco vs Angel del Mal, Asesino Negro, Leon Blanco
4) La Sombra, Shocker, Volador Jr. vs Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas
5) Blue Panther vs Averno [NWA MIDDLE]

Just because it’s been a while since I’ve done this: middleweight limit is 87 kg. Panther is usually listed at 88. He’ll have to hit the diet this week!

IWRG (SUN) 09/06 Arena Naucalpan
1) Guardián del Aire vs ?
2) Rey Tempestad & Star Boy vs Dark Saint & Menfis
3) Exodia, Gemelo Fantastico I, Gemelo Fantastico II vs Capitán Muerte, Espanto Jr., Gringo Loco
4) Bushi, Chico Che, Rigo vs Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro
5) Bobby Lee Jr., Fuerza Guerrera, Juventud Guerrera, Pendulo, Suicida vs Gringo Loco, Kai, Masada, Nosawa, Veneno [copa higher power]

Copa Higher Power is the annual tournament we don’t pay much attention to.

2006-10-29: Marco Corleone b Electro Shock, Negro Casas, Suicida, Fabian el Gitano, Kenzo Suzuki, Shigeo Okumura, Veneno
2007-05-17: CIMA b Dr. Cerebro, Don Fuji, Black Warrior, Naruki Doi, Suicida, Stuka Jr., Masato Yoshino

The first one was billed as the 3rd. The one Marco Corleone won was billed as the 14th. Safe to say I’m missing a few.

Next AJPW tour starts on 09/13, so they can’t be staying too long. Perhaps they’re checking up on Bushi. Rey Tempestad and Dark Saint are Laguna area guys who seem to have moved to Mexico City this summer, probably for a shot like this.

CMLL (SUN) 09/06 Arena Coliseo
1) Principe & Trueno vs Apocalipsis & Camorra
2) Pequeño Damian 666, Pequeño Warrior, Pierrothito vs Eléctrico, Pequeño Olímpico, Último Dragoncito
3) Flash, Metro, Rouge vs Euforia, Tiger Kid, Virus
4) Mascara Dorada, Mictlán, Sagrado vs Ephesto, Hijo de Lizmark, Mephisto
5) Naito, Ray Mendoza Jr., Yujiro vs Héctor Garza, La Máscara, Toscano

EVENTO GRABADO PARA
LA TV POR CANAL 52 MX Y FOX SPORTS

So both staying are on Fox Sports? (Not as though CMLL ever appears to have left.) Fox Sports has the air time for both, that’s for sure. Anyway, things get interesting up to Tiger Kid’s annual tercera match, and then becomes less interesting.

IWRG, Furia Guerrera, Rio Bravo

Note: Everyone but me has already figured out “Alex Koslov got kicked out of AAA, but he’ll just be part of Konnan’s Foreign Legion of outsiders.” That’s certainly the easiest way to get out of it.

IWRG (SUN) 08/30 Arena Naucalpan [Black Terry Jr. via DJ Spectro; pics!]
1) Keshin Black b Espada de Plata
2) Gemelo Fantastico I & Gemelo Fantastico II b Carta Brava Jr. & Vampiro Metálico
3) Freelance, Pendulo, Star Boy b Avisman, Gringo Loco, Xibalba
4) Bushi, Chico Che, Suicida b Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro
5) Máscara Año 2000 Jr., Sangre Chicana, Sangre Chicana Jr. b Bobby Lee Jr., Mano Negra, Pantera

No details

Furia Guerrera passed away sometime recently. He was actually attacked back on 08/11, while in Mexico City recruiting wrestlers for shows on 09/04 and 09/05. A group of people mugged him, and stabbed him twice – once getting the lung, once near the heart. He was taken to a hospital, and it’s not clear to me if Furia passed away recently, or if the story just took a few weeks from getting out.

Furia was said to be the nephew of Fuerza Guerrera and Juvi’s cousin, though there was some thought the relationship might be a work with how little he originally appeared. He had one known match in Promo Azteca in ’96, 2 for AAA TV in 1998, and there are no records of him again until 2006. It’s possible he switched gimmicks, and I’m sure more will come out in the next few days. In the last couple of years, he’d turned up in Coliseo Coacalco and was in IWRG last October. The article mentions Furia as a boxing and lucha promoter, which hadn’t heard of before.

Rio Bravo seems have decided to stick with AAA, after rumors of his departure this weekend.

The annual CMLL minis party included Mascaria Dorada, Mini Olimpico, Bam Bam, Pequeno Universo 2000, Pequeno Black Warrior, Fire (!), Bracito de Oro, Ultimo Dragoncito, Nino de Acero, Pequeno Nitro, Electrico, and Virus, with chef Mini Mascara Ano 2000 providing seafood.

Record, when not allowing Rey Misterio to get himself in lots of trouble for unauthorized interviews, talked to “Strongman Jon”. CMLL has plenty of time to settle on a name, because he’s not starting until October. Which kinda makes you wonder why they revealed him in August. Shocker talks about his part in bringing in Strongman. Article tries to suggest he could be a surprise addition to the anniversary show, but Shocker and his father don’t think so much.

Column says Rey Misterio had no choice to use steroids, because he’s got to keep up with everyone else.

Cesar previews this Friday’s Arena Mexico lineup

Estrella del Ring has video of Diana la Cazadora dancing. I thought this link would be clicked on more than the AULL results (Septulturero is the new heavyweight champ!)

Box Y Lucha #2937 has Negro Casas vs Mistico and Yujiro vs Black Warrior. Inside, Groon XXX says there should be only one Gronda, though the rest of us might like one less Gronda than that.

SuperLuchas #329 has SummerSlam and Super Crazy defending his X-Law title.

Wrestling Observer has their AAA recap.

LuchaWorld has the latest KrisZ news update.

08/30 Arena Coliseo Results (Mistico retains IWGP JH championship)

CMLL (SUN) 08/30 Arena Coliseo [Ovaciones, Reforma]
1) Bengala & Principe b Artillero & Súper Comando
2) Metálico, Tony Rivera, Trueno b Bronco, Durango Kid, Méssala
3) Fabián el Gitano, Leono, Rey Cometa DQ Arkangel de la Muerte, Nosferatu, Skándalo
4) Dragon Rojo Jr., Hijo de Lizmark, Sangre Azteca b La Máscara, Metro, Sagrado
5) Atlantis, Black Warrior, Mr. Niebla b La Sombra, Shocker, Volador Jr.
6) Místico b Negro Casas [IWGP JH]

Mr. Niebla, Negro’s second, frequently interfered for his partner. Sombra was less helpful for Mistico Negro took the first with a castia, Mistico got a ‘rana for the second, and pinned Negro with his feet on the ropes for the third. I hope they’ve got this match out of their system and don’t do it on the anniversary show. Actually, this is probably the match they should’ve done on Friday (and they shouldn’t have done the title match before the Anniversary show if they’re worried about protecting Negro.)

Trueno was in “Venom”‘s spot, so no idea what that was about. No mention of what the DQ was for in the Tuareg match.

08/30 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara Results

CMLL (SUN) 08/30 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [Informador, Fuego en el Ring]
0) Javier Cruz Jr. b Principe Dylan
1) Fraile de la Muerte & Titanio b Astaroth & Nube Roja
2) Saturno & Thunder Boy b Meteoro & Virgo
3) Casanova & Hierro b Asesino Negro & Leon Blanco
4) Misterioso II & Vangelis b Flash & Stuka Jr.
5) Blue Panther, Héctor Garza, Toscano b Averno, Terrible, Texano Jr.

Panther beat Averno again, this time in straight falls. Averno finally relented, and will give Blue Panther his shot at the NWA Middleweight Title next Sunday.

After their win, Misterioso & Vangelis demanded a shot at the Arena Coliseo Tag Team championships. I guess it is an Arena Coliseo, though I didn’t think this is how it’s supposed to work. Oh well, at least they may defend the things.

Javier Cruz was a CMLL wrestler, mostly from the mid 80s to the mid 90s. This is the first time I’ve seen a Junior mentioned.

09/06 AAA TV Lineup (Tula)

2) Cinthia Moreno & Oriental vs Aerostar & Fabi Apache [AAA MIXED TAG]
3) Charly Manson & Crazy Boy vs Zorro & Chessman
4) El Elegido, Gronda, Jack Evans vs Groon XXX, Joe Lider, Nicho el Millionario
5) El Mesías, Extreme Tiger, La Parka Jr., Marco Corleone vs Dr. Wagner Jr., Electro Shock, Silver King, Último Gladiador

2009 AAA TV Chart
Projected Air Date (#906)
Mexico: 09/27
US: 10/10 (maybe)

SuperLuchas had this lineup! They don’t list it as a TV taping, so I’m not sure they knew they were breaking AAA news. Probably will be up on AAA’s site today.

The interesting thing here is Oriental in the second match. He could be back, he could’ve never been gone, or he could be just in for one last show to dropped these tag titles (which really should’ve been in the Billy/Sexi/Aero/Fabi feud all along if they had no plans for the Morenos.)

The other interesting thing is that semimain. Jack is wrestler of the year if that match isn’t awful. Maybe everyone else can just brawl out into the crowd and Nicho and Jack can work for 8 minutes.

Elsewise, we’ve got the main event, seemingly with the idea that the AAA tecnicos are going to be Mesias’ faction. The tercera feels like a fourway just to get four people on the show. Gotta figure Mari Apache and Sexy Star will play into the title match someway or another.

Edit: AAA says the third match is a tag match, not a four way. Makes more sense.

08/30 AAA TV Results (Tlalnepantla)

AAA TV (SUN) 08/30 Centro de Convenciones de Tlalnepantla [AAA]

2) El Elegido, Mari Apache, Mascarita Divina, Pimpinela Escarlata b Cinthia Moreno, May Flowers, Mini Abismo Negro, Ozz
3) Billy Boy & Sexy Star b Aerostar & Fabi Apache
4) El Mesías DCO Cibernético
5) Dr. Wagner Jr., Electro Shock, Silver King b Cuervo, Escoria, Zorro
6) Alex Koslov L Extreme Tiger, Jack Evans, Teddy Hart, Rocky Romero, Sugi [cage, loser leaves town, #1 Contenders, AAA CRUISER]

2009 AAA TV Chart
Projected Air Date (#905)
Mexico: 09/20
US: 10/03 (maybe)

Check those dates. Unless they skip a show or compact Verano de Escandalo to one week, this was actually the TV go home show for the 09/18 Antonio Pena memorial. They taped six weeks of TV in August and had a skip week, so AAA’s quite a bit backlogged. (If both VdE and the Pena show air over 2 weeks, then AAA’s got their TV booked until November.) Good thing they announced the main event for the Pena show.

Opener was not listed, but I think it was just to have the Bizarros work since they were there to run in later. There’s an opening match wrestler named Tribal in Monterrey, no idea if that’s him. Tecnicos won, only for Cibernetico kill them all by himself.

Mari Apache and Mascarita Divina replaced Estrellita and Mascarita Sagrada in the atomicos. No explanation hwy. Elegido pinned ozz.

In between the second and the third, they did an in-ring skit where Joaquin Roldan talked about Verano, Alex came out to make fun of Mexican soccer and Roldan’s mustache, and Roldan made the stips in the cage match. Earlier in the day, AAA posted an interview where Alex said there was no way he was losing. I guess this was cheaper than this was a blinking sign reading “Alex is going to lose”.

Billy tried wearing a wig in his match but it was pulled off. Rudos still won, then Sexi Star posed with the Reina de Reinas title and demanded a title match.

Mesias/Cibernetico went to a double countout with the Bizarros running in. Thought maybe this was the end of the Bizarros, but the AAA recap hints towards Mesias getting his own group to counter the other groups going on.

Wagner’s team won clean. Electro beat Cuervo, so Cuervo’s officially a cruiserweight. Roldan showed up to make the Mesias/Wagner match for the Pena show, and Mesias showed up to do his catchphrase. Why does Mesias get another shot after losing at Verano and not beating Cibernetico here?

Order of escape was Xtreme Tiger, Teddy Hart, Jack Evans, Sugi. Sugi did a move off the top of the cage and looked hurt. Rocky escaped, leaving Alex. Roldan asked the crowd if they wanted to see Alex gone, and then did the Vince McMahon “you’re fired” bit. Alex is currently Cruiserweight champion and there was no mention of what this means for that title.

Previously:

Not only is it weird for the champ to be in a match for the title, but there’s the theoretical possibility of the champion losing the match and being out of the company. It’s not going to happen, but it’s still weird.

Forgive me for thinking well of AAA. I’ll try not to do it again.
