Run ins in Arena Mexico, next week’s lineups

CMLL (FRI) 08/28 Arena Mexico [ESTO, Cesar, Ovaciones, SuperLuchas]
1) Astro Boy & Molotov b Camorra & Tiger Kid
2) Calígula b Guerrero Maya Jr. [lightning]
3) Flash, Pegasso, Stuka Jr. b Arkangel de la Muerte, Loco Max, Skándalo
4) Dragon Rojo Jr., Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca b Máximo, Mictlán, Rouge
5) Black Warrior, Blue Panther, Último Guerrero DQ Naito, Ray Mendoza Jr., Yujiro
6) La Sombra, Místico, Volador Jr. DQ Atlantis, Felino, Mr. Niebla

Main event tecnicos were about to win when Negro ran in and hit Mistico wtih a trash can. Mexican team were about to win the semimian when Okumura ran in and attacked for the DQ. Warrior and Yujiro made hair vs hair motions, but they didn’t offically say anything – they weren’t even given the mic for that.

Skandalo (taking the Skandalo driver from Stuka) and Guerrero Maya (quebadora before the submission finish?) were strechered out after their matches. Cesar says the lightning match was very good, but the crowd booed it throughout. Mixed reviews on Rouge. Mictlan was cut on his head during his match.

FWIW: Rey Misterio Jr. talks about his suspension. He says he had the prescription for the drugs, but he didn’t get enough time to provide it.

LuchaLibreAAA is promising an update after Sunday’s show on who’s lost the cage match and will be gone from AAA. Also, exciting footage of Billy Boy sitting around and doing little.

El Universal has an article on the CMLL minis turning 17.

Kcidis looks at Gronda vs Gronda.

Estrella del Ring has an interview with Pandemonium, who swears he has nothing to do with H1N1.

CMLL (TUE) 09/01 Arena Mexico
1) Scorpion & Semental vs Diamante & Molotov
2) Hooligan, Pólvora, Tiger Kid vs Guerrero Maya Jr., Metálico, Tigre Blanco
3) Fabián el Gitano, Pegasso, Rey Cometa vs Euforia, Nosferatu, Skándalo
4) Héctor Garza, Hijo del Fantasma, La Máscara vs Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto
5) La Sombra, Místico, Volador Jr. vs Felino, Mr. Niebla, Último Guerrero

Fourth is a rematch. Perhaps another Negro run in on the main event? Opener is Scorpion’s DF debut, and maybe we’ll get a clear idea if it’s supposed to be Scorpion or Escorpion by then.

CMLL (FRI) 09/04 Arena Mexico
1) Bengala & Delta vs Durango Kid & Turbo
2) Stuka Jr. vs Loco Max [lightning]
3) Dark Angel, Lluvia, Marcela vs Hiroka, Princesa Blanca, Princesa Sujei
4) Dragon Rojo Jr., Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca vs Mascara Dorada, Máximo, Valiente
5) La Sombra, Shocker, Volador Jr. vs Ephesto, Terrible, Texano Jr.
6) Negro Casas vs Místico

They’re building up Negro Casas vs Mistico by doing the singles match twice in a week. Huh. I guess it’s a different strategy, and it’s not like the trios build works when they’ve announced the match. think there’s the also the problem of Negro probably not winning the IWGP Junior Heavyweight championship on Sunday and attempting to balance it out here.

Turbo? Name seems familiar! Lightning match seems banished to the second on the card. No Yujiro/Warrior match here, so we’ve got that (and the Leyenda de Plata, and the Gran Alternative) somewhere after 09/18.

CMLL (WED) 09/16 Auditorio Miguel Barragan [El Sol de San Luis]
1) As Jr. & Guerrero Maya Jr. vs Calígula & Méssala
2) Bam Bam & Mascarita Dorada vs Pequeño Damian 666 & Pequeño Warrior
3) Pegasso, Rey Cometa, Valiente vs Euforia, Nosferatu, Virus
4) Astro Boy, Sagrado, Stuka Jr. vs Heavy Metal, Terrible, Texano Jr.
5) La Sombra, Místico, Volador Jr. vs Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas

Article says this is being taped for TV. Maybe it is.

  1. Presumably top three make TV today unless they don’t air the especial b/c of Mictlan’s accidental blood. Should be an entirely skippable show aside from the main event.

I *really* don’t get that AAA.com video of Billy Boy. If you’re gonna take time to put something together – say something!

Next week’s lineups look like a blast! Can’t find fault with any of the matches.

    Tuesday:

    2) Hooligan, Pólvora, Tiger Kid vs Guerrero Maya Jr., Metálico, Tigre Blanco

    – That’s a really fun rudo team!

    3) Fabián el Gitano, Pegasso, Rey Cometa vs Euforia, Nosferatu, Skándalo

    – Good to see the Fuerza Aerea back on TV and opposite the Infernales again. If only they had a secondary set of tag titles to feud over!

    4) Héctor Garza, Hijo del Fantasma, La Máscara vs Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto

    – Could we get to the title match and hopefully switch already?

    5) La Sombra, Místico, Volador Jr. vs Felino, Mr. Niebla, Último Guerrero

    – This could be really fun. I expect one of those deals where the tecs end up the rudos and vice versa since Niebla owns the Tuesday crowds.

    Friday:

    1) Bengala & Delta vs Durango Kid & Turbo

    – Woo-hoo! Turbo finally makes it! I assume this is another tryout which he should pass with flying colors. Strange to see him on the rudo side though.

    2) Stuka Jr. vs Loco Max [lightning]

    – It’s a good week when this is the least interesting match!

    3) Dark Angel, Lluvia, Marcela vs Hiroka, Princesa Blanca, Princesa Sujei

    – Guessing this and the lightning match are for TDN.

    4) Dragon Rojo Jr., Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca vs Mascara Dorada, Máximo, Valiente

    – Dorada and Valiente! In a TV slot! YAY! Poor Misterioso II stuck in such limbo that he’s just working as Black Warrior’s temporary sub.

    5) La Sombra, Shocker, Volador Jr. vs Ephesto, Terrible, Texano Jr.

    – Nothing to complain about here.

    6) Negro Casas vs Místico

    – Teasing the fans a bit, I approve of this.

Now they just need to put together a good Sunday card that nobody will ever see so they can go 3 for 3!

Poster over at RFC’s board says the Nuevo Laredo AAA promotor says not only has Oriental left the promotion but also Rio Bravo.

Also, CMLL.com lists the September 18th Anniversary Show as being taped for Canal 9 Galavision. I’m thinking they will try out the live special on TDN that night. Hopefully people are finally learning to record that show.

“No Yujiro/Warrior match here, so we’ve got that (and the Leyenda de Plata, and the Gran Alternative) somewhere after 09/18.”

CMLL seems pretty loaded for the final two months of the year. Yujiro and Naito are finally nearing the end of their run so the match with Warrior has to be designated for 9/25 or 10/2, probably the latter.

Leyenda De Plata is a 3 week tournament which I expect them to start on 9/25.

They still have to do the Gran Alternativa (which with all the debuts this year can officially be a 16 team tournament), the Reyes Del Aire Torneo and the Leyenda Azul in November.

Also, if I’m reading correctly – after the two CMLL matches last night on TDN a poster on the ByL forum says they aired a special singles match between Super Fly and Extreme Tiger taped in a studio. It was said to be part of the ‘Alas De Oro’ and had a 5 minute time limit which sounds ridiculous. Wonder if AAA is gonna waste their best match of the year on a bunch of short singles matches for TDN?

  2. “Mixed reviews on Rouge.” Not surprised by this, however I’m surprised they said he had mixed reviews instead of flat out saying he sucked & is one of the worst wrestlers ever. “Turbo? Name seems familiar!”?!?!?!!?! If it’s THE Turbo then, HOLY CRAP FINALLY !!!!

  3. Did CMLL start early? Just turned it on and the lineups of the week are on.

Tuesday’s show is supposedly the fan appreciation show even though CMLL.com doesn’t list it as such.

  4. Rouge who has never been on TV before is doing the trivia of the week segment. Clearly this is proof they know everyone is getting their answers from LuchaWiki!

  5. Strongman Jon W/ youtube clips (!!!) makes his TV debut. Proceeds to have the following exchange with TV announcer:

Riano: Como estas? How are you?
    Strongman: Como estas.

    FAIL.

  6. Watching the semi makes me wonder, with the build of Warrior vs the Japanese, why aren’t any of Atlantis, Panther, or the rest of Poder Mexica involved in the match at the Anniversary?

  7. We need a new term to describe these types of CMLL main events. “Mail-in” is being too nice.

(Although Sombra’s new armdrag was really neat.)

  8. Got home late and couldn’t see XEJ feed even though I kept trying.

    Won’t miss CMLL on C3.

  9. I think it was Keith that asked about CMLL on LATV, It’s airing now with

    Marcela/Dark Angel/Lady Apache vs Hiroka/Blanca/Sahori
    Azteca Jr./Panther/Sombra vs Bucanero/Neibla/Guerrero

    from March 2009

  10. CMLL’s YouTube channel is putting up the CMLL press conference from Thursday, in case anyone’s looking for a cure to insomnia. No wonder no one reported anything but the lineup and Strong Man, they surely fell asleep for the rest.

  11. If CMLL on C3? I can’t watch 28 version and 44 Juarez has a Cowboys game. I don’t know if that’s local or national in Mexico.

  12. well 44 is airing cowboys, so i’m downloading software to get C3’s main feed from Mexico City. I assume Media Player 10 will do.

  13. Windows Media Player. wwitv.com has a link to download it on the “required software”, link.

  14. Check out that girl Carola on Multimedios. She has her own show. Remember when she got her head shaved at Coli? LOL.

  15. Hmmm, just ran across CMLL on Fox Sports, so it looks like it is still airing this week. They got Delta/Tigre Blanco/Starman vs Nitro/Polvora/Skandalo and Mistico/Garza/Mascara vs Ultimo/Atlantis/Casas.

Odd that they would be airing the Mistico/Casas feud here. Maybe they have one more week left and end their run on Fox Sports with the Title match?

  16. There is no confirmation that CMLL is leaving Fox Sports. We only know that AAA is airing the Lucha Libre Premiere stuff. And like I predicted when this story broke, AAA is AAA, and they’ll struggle to provide content to Fox Sports, b/c they’re AAA, and weekly Televisa tapings is what they do.

If anything, Mistico vs. Casas airing on Fox Sports would indicate that CMLL is staying, and plans on improving star quality on Fox to compete with AAA.

  17. @Alan: Interesting. So Fox Sports appears to still be getting just two matches from Sunday which leaves the Friday tapings limited to what airs on Saturday afternoon and the TDN stuff which nobody seems to get.

  18. For anyone who dares watch AAA today: Can you share what future TV dates they announced on Noti AAA? The AAA website (as usual) has no mention of anything although the new SuperLuchas lists a big card on September 6th in Tula that looks to be a taping on paper at least.

  19. @Rob: Anyone who has Cablevision should be getting TDN, in my case I’m just lacking the hardware to capture the video. It will be interesting to see if the stuff starts showing up on DVD. In my dream world, someone would take the initiative to edit things together so that you could get almost an entire night of Arena Mexico on one DVD (TDN+the Saturday show taking out any duplicate matches), but that seems unlikely.

I’ll try to catch what they say about TV tapings on AAA. The show is starting now.

  20. @Alan: I managed to connect to AAA TV for a change! Opener was wild. Those guys are sure killing themselves while not even knowing if their match will make the cut for TV, huh?

Relampago is clearly a weaker clone of Extreme Tiger if that is even possible. If Tiger was too hurt to make Verano I could easily see them just putting the mask on Relampago and nobody noticing the difference.

  21. Opener was outstanding. I missed the first minute or two, but Poder del Norte was on fire throughout the match.

Occurred to me as the match was coming to a close that I should have been paying attention to the announce crew. I’ll pay more attention during the next match, but sounded like the standard crew, maybe dubbed over after the taping.

  22. Shame it sounds like Rio Bravo quit AAA.:(

Definitely a dubbed over announce crew b/c there were obvious edits and you didn’t hear the usual jump in audio you do when they do the live commentary.

Nikki is back! With blonde hair now to make sure nobody can tell her apart from the other chicks that showed up at Verano.

  23. Another obvious sign the announcers are dubbed over is they stop talking before a commercial break unlike the annoying live commentary where they talk into the break and then you hear the tail end of the same conversation when they return from break.

  24. 9/6 – Tula (SuperLucas scoops AAA.com w/ lineup!)
    9/18 – Puebla
9/26 – Arena Monterrey (Pena Memorial)

  25. I liked the Teddy/Alex vs Rocky/Jack match, but now things seem to be headed down hill for this taping.

  26. @Rob: Opener is ariring, so you aren’t wrong yet!

If they are going to skip something, I think I would actually choose the segunda which is rare for a Puebla card.

  27. @Alan: Yeah, I can see the segunda dissappearing easily. Kinda like the random people in the match though. But I’d rather see the tercera if they are going to cut one of those. Normally I’d have chosen the semi-main but since the title match is tomorrow I guess they have to air the setup to it.

  28. Angels vs Tuaregs, so the segunda is gone. I like the random people in the segunda, but on this card I would say it was the weak link (assuming the locals have to air). Locals were solid though.

How long has it been since we’ve seen Hooligan on TV?

  29. @Alan: On any sort of TV? A quick check of Cubs’ database says his last TV match would have been the 6/30 C3 taping which aired July 4th. So almost two full months. He was in a couple of Arena Mex segundas that could have aired on FSE or 52MX for all we know.

  30. ALEX KOSLOV LOST THE MATCH TONIGHT, RESULTS ARE ALREADY UP ON THE WEBSITE

MAIN EVENT FOR THE MEMORIAL SHOW IS WAGNER VS MESIAS
