CMLL 52MX #192 (07/25)

taped 07/19

La Nazi, La Seductora, Princesa Blanca © vs Estrella Magica, Lluvia, Sahori © ( part 2): fortunately (?), someone looked at the lineup for this match and demanded no one try anything complicated. They almost pulled it off, and considering the level, did good enough. Which means it was boring and unmemorable, but everyone lived for another day.

Mascara Dorada, Mictlan, Valiente © vs Heavy Metal, Hijo del Lizmark ©, Sangre Azteca (part 1, part 2): Heavy Metal punched Mictlan in the head, and Mictlan was done after that. I know I’m supposed to be against such unprofessional displays, but suddenly I liked Heavy Metal just a little bit more.

GDL, Monterrey, notes

CMLL ACG (SUN) 08/16 Plaza Arboledas [Fuego en El Ring]
1) Nocturno & Principe Leo b Caballero & Katana
2) Super Estrella b Magnifica
3) Flyer & Palacio Negro b Dragon & In Memoria

Arena Coliseo Guadalajara luchadors, wrestling at a mall, in between rounds of a beauty contest.

AAA (SUN) 08/16 Arena Coliseo Monterrey [RFC]
1) Invasor b Viernes 13
2) Aguila Extrema & Virtual X b Euforia & La Nazi
3) Mr. Secuestro L Ejecutor, Epidemius, TDN [hair]
4) Killer Clown, Psycho Clown, Zombie Clown b Cuervo, Escoria, Ozz
5) Zorro b Cibernético and El Mesías

That looks like Zorro beat Ciberentico & El Mesias, but that doesn’t SOUND right.

Ovaciones hypes tonight’s CMLL card, saying the Texano/Terrible/Ephesto vs Shocker/Garza/Toscano match may set up Shocker/Terrible in a hair match, or Ephesto/Toscano in a title match. Other matches have Pierrothito and Dorada back after splitting their matches in CHIKARA over the weekend, and Fantasma/Mascara/Dorada continuing as a team. If CMLL had actual tecinco groups that stuck together longer than two weeks, this would be a nice lead into Dorada being brought in the group with Garza, as a lead-in to all the young tecnicos starting choosing sides and a big 8 on 8 Reyes del Aires where the sides matter. This is much more like a match to have a match (unless Virus being in it means something.)

Over in GDL, tonight’s the big Micltan vs Misterioso match (/likely horrible injustice.)

Dr. Wagner hypes up Friday’s title match. It doesn’t feel like Verano de Escandalo is Friday. Wagner may want to call up Zorro and figure out what he did in Monterrey if he’s going to pull this out. Anyway, looking to find time to write a preview for VdE sometime this week.

In an interview with magazine Emeequis (link is to a PDF) the original Mascarita Sagrada talks about the start of his career, other people taking his name and experiences being a short in Mexico.

Cesar compares CMLL’s attendance on the weekend (he has 6000 on Friday, 8500 on Sunday) to AAA’s attendance (under 2,200), while kinda totally ignoring ticket price. You don’t ‘win’ with people in the seats, you win with the money in the ticket office (and the money in the merchandise stand.)

Kcidis pictures new champ Valiente.

LuchaWorld has Robert on 07/05/08 C3, 07/12/08 C3 (remember when we liked Hijo del Faraon?), and AAA 07/05/08, as well as KrisZ’s news update.

AAA #895 (07/25)

taped 06/30, 07/25

Gato Eveready & Octagoncito vs Mini Abismo Negro & Yuriko – I remember not being as excited by this.

Alex Koslov & Rocky Romero vs Cuervo & Escoria – effectively a long squash

El Elegido & Fabi Apache vs Decnnis & Sexy Star – Decnnis & Star have clearly earned their shot at the mixed tag titles. Except those probably don’t exist at the moment.

Extreme Tiger, Jack Evans, La Parka Jr. vs Electro Shock, Shiima Xion, Teddy Hart – I didn’t think Xion was bad but, given the finish, they clearly had decided on him before the debut match. So whatever.

Cibernético & El Mesías vs Dr. Wagner Jr. & Silver King – this made no sense. Why do the bit with Silver King acting like a tecnico teaming with Dr. Wagner when a) they’re working as rudos in the match later that night and b) they’ll just ignore everything that happened in this match next week. It sure looks like there was a big change in plans between this taping (or at least when this taping was booked) and the next one, and no one bothered to figure out a way for the two to make sense together. Who needs good storytelling in a promotion built around storytelling?
