3) Aerostar & Fabi Apache vs Billy Boy & Sexy Star [bull terrier]

5) Alan Stone, La Parka Jr., Marco Corleone vs Dr. Wagner Jr., Electro Shock, Silver King

2009 AAA TV Chart
Projected Air Date (#901)
Mexico: 08/16
US: 09/05

I really need to give and start listing Wagner as a rudo. It just doesn’t make sense to me. Unless they’ve done a lot of work on the crowd that I’ve yet to see (and I am laughable behind, so they may have), the crowd’s more likely to cheer Electro and Silver King than boo Wagner.

Been thinking about how to work this list in, and Alan Stone’s mysterious inclusion in the main event will do.

Electroshock in trios with cruiserweights

  • 01/31: Electro pins Super Fly
  • 02/15: Electro pins Super Fly
  • 04/10: Electro submits Laredo Kid
  • 05/25: Electro submits Alex Koslov
  • 06/07: Electro pins La Parka! (not Jack)
  • 06/30: Electro LOSES

It’s not just that Electro’s team wins, it’s that Electro specifically pins a cruiserweight in the match. It wasn’t just a Super Fly thing – if there’s only one cruiserweight in the match, they are getting beat by Electroshock. Until Jack somehow escaped it (because they wanted to do the gimmicky finish with Parka, I guess), AAA was booking that finish with such consistency, there had to be a purpose behind it. I have absolutely no idea what that purpose could be, but it seems like it might be resuming.

Kinda surprising the semimain isn’t the main. Pre-Wagner, it definitely would’ve been.

Bull Terrier stip seems to work against the strengths of the participants in the match, and doesn’t feel like they’ve built up to it at all, but that’s not how they pick these stips.

First match should be really good, though I wish they’ve could’ve snuck in Laredo or mysterious missing Super Fly. I’m totally sold on Atomic Boy.

08/02 CMLL Guadalajara (Virus to challenge Dorada)

CMLL (SUN) 08/02 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [Fuego en el Ring]
1) Acertijo & MilenioHierro & Novato
2) Guerrero Maya Jr., Hijo de Ultraman, StarmanArkangel de la Muerte, Loco Max, Skandalo
3) Dark Angel, Lady Apache, ZeuxisHiroka, Magnifica, Princesa Sujei
4) Black Warrior, Dragon Rojo Jr., VirusMascara Dorada, Maximo, Stuka Jr.
5) Hector Garza, Mistico, Toscano DQ Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas

As noted yesterday, Negro pulled Mistico’s mask for the DQ. All of the stuff with Mistico and Peste Negra is Mistico and Negro lately – no recent hints of Felino getting involved. It may mean nothing; CMLL was supposed to internally decide the anniversary main event this past Friday, and they’re not that quick to change booking (if there’s changes to be made.) Toscano wrestled the match with a bandanna on his bald head, but it looks like it was off by the end of the match.

Virus ripped up Mascara Dorada’s mask and got the win, so Mascara Dorada agreed to put up the CMLL Super Light title in a match (TBD). If you recall, that was scheduled earlier this year in this building but got canceled due the flu.

Thursday IWRG, Coliseo, Incognito

IWRG (THU) 07/30 Arena Naucalpan [Al Filo del Ring]
3) Chico Che & Rigo b Bushi & Fantasma de la Opera
4) Barba Roja, Hijo de Pirata Morgan, Pirata Morgan Jr. DQ Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Trauma II
5) Fuerza Guerrera & Juventud Guerrera DQ Negro Navarro & Trauma I

Last week, Fuerza faked a foul. This week, Negro fouled him for real. Same result. Looks like Oficial Fierro returned to make the save for his team in the semifinal; they were on their way to a loss, but it caused issues with Trauma II. Bushi refused to work as a rudo, and so he’s not longer one.

CMLL (SUN) 08/02 Arena Coliseo [Ovaciones]
4) Metro, Mictlan, Valiente DQ Heavy Metal, Hijo del Lizmark, Sangre Azteca
5) Atlantis, Naito, Yujiro b La Sombra, Shocker, Volador Jr.

Yujiro pinned Shocker with his feet on the ropes. Sangre got DQed for yanking Valiente’s mask, so they still have issues.

UWE (SUN) 08/02 Arena Lopez Mateos [Al Filo del Ring]
1) Hormiga Atomica & Rey Cristal b Pequeno Demonio & Space Warrior
2) Climax, Iron Lover, Super Halcon Jr. b Cerebro Maligno, Epitafio, Jose Caporal
3) Robin Maravilla, Sadico, Yakuza b Rey Krimen, Sepulutrero, Terry 2000
4) Blue Demon Jr. & Lizmark Sr. DQ LA Park & Scorpio Jr.

Park fouled Demon. No sign of Lizmark Jr. There’s an interview with Lizmark Sr. on the link, talking about his retirement tour.

SlamWrestling has an interview with Mystico de Juarez about his career and the whole name thing.

Al Filo del Ring interviews Halcon Ortiz about current wrestling,

In his third block match of the AJPW Junior Heavyweight League, Super Crazy went to a 30 minute draw with Kaz Hayashi. He’s now got 5 points with a record of 2-0-1, but likely will need to pick up a sixth point to ensure moving onto the semifinals. It looks like it’s shaping up where Super Crazy’s final match, versus KAI (the one seen in IWRG), will be for first place in the block. If Crazy loses, he’ll probably fall back into a tie for second place with Hayashi (who’s only got a seemingly sure win over Toshizo left) and I’m guessing that’s how it turns out. (Standings/results via purolove.)

Box Y Lucha #2933 has Wagner and Cibernetico on the cover. Inside, there’s “the first interview with Estrellita.” She’s been around for 16 years, and this is the first time they’ve talked to her? Had to get over the nerves, I understand. There’s also a new edition on the television episode

CMLL lists next Sunday’s minis match as
2) Bracito de Oro, Tzuki, Ultimo Dragoncito vs Atomo, Pequeño Nitro, Pequeño Universo 2000

Nitro in for Olimpico. Atomo is seemingly back as a rudo. I guess they could use some.

indy (THU) 08/06 Arena Olimpico Laguna de Gomez Palacio [Siglo de Torreon]
1) Camorra Jr. vs New Warrior
2) Dorado Jr. & Piloto Negro vs Arana del Futuro & Super Punk
3) Angel de Oro & Angel de Plata vs Escriba & Mr. Guerrero
4) Dragon Rojo Jr., Ephesto, Hooligan vs Stuka I, Stuka Jr., Ultimo Guerrero

CMLL guys have been working here for a while, but this is the largest amount here at once since last winter.
