08/01-02 Lucha Times

box. LATV’s twitter said no more CMLL 1-hour hour. Ras de Lona will continue.

AAA-US: Charly/Wagner/Jack vs Chessman/Silver/Teddy. Last 2h30m show for the time being.

52MX: Women’s Trios, and Poder Mexica. I think CMLL’s doing a Princesa Blanca/Lluvia title feud, but I’m scared of contemplating such things.

CMLL: As noted in the comments, only a half hour show. Guessing they’re show the Mistico match and not the cage match.

AAA-MEX: battle royal for THE title shot (for a while, anyway.) Not sure what they’re cutting here, if anything, because everyone but the Clowns builds something up for Verano de Escandalo, and they’re probably not cutting out Wagner and Marco.

FSE: Segunda from Friday, main event from Sunday – Pesta Negra vs Sombra/Mistico/Toscano

C3: Amapola/Marcela and other lesser matches. (Good ones, though. Show of the week for sure.)

Puebla: Not sure what they’re dropping here, because it’s a solid lineup. Obviously, title match in the main event.

Puebla (UG retains, Garza hurt), Mexico (Amapola retains)

CMLL (MON) 07/27 Arena Puebla [Estrellas del Ring, Ovaciones, [Betabelmx @ box y lucha]
1) Fuerza Chicana, Policeman, Toro Bill Jr. b Black Tiger, Blue Center, Tigre Rojo
2) Asturiano, Mini Fantasy, Ultimo Dragoncito b Mr. Rafaga, Pequeño Warrior, Pierrothito
3) Dr. X, Skandalo, Virus b Pegasso, Rey Cometa, Stuka Jr.
4) Blue Panther, Shocker, Toscano DQ Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas
5) Ultimo Guerrero CO Hector Garza [CMLL HEAVY]

Garza took the first, UG the second, and Garza crashed and burned on a dive in the third. Garza never returned to the ring, and was taken to the back with a leg injury. CMLL hasn’t posted anything about his status for Friday, so I presume he’s going to be ok.

CMLL (TUE) 07/28 Arena Mexico [ESTO, Record]
2) Pequeño Damian 666, Pequeño Violencia, Pequeño Warrior b Bam Bam, Bracito de Oro, Pequeno Olimpico
3) Metro, Pegasso, Rey Cometa b Arkangel de la Muerte, Loco Max, Vangelis
4) Amapola b Marcela [CMLL WOMEN]
5) Dragon Rojo Jr., Hijo del Lizmark, Sangre Azteca b La Mascara, Mascara Dorada, Valiente
6) La Sombra, Shocker, Volador Jr. DQ Felino, Heavy Metal, Mr. Niebla

Metal fouled Shocker in the main event. Amapola retained the title clean. Damian’s side won in straight falls.

Highlight of this Dr. Wagner Jr. interview: calling Cibernetico “a spoiled child who thinks he can come and go when he wants.” Doctor Wagner is an incredible person.

Cesar says upcoming CMLL debuts are Rouge (who has turned up outside of DF) and Delta (who has not, masked), and mentions both are part of lucha libre families. He also wonders who’ll take the dive off the top of the cage Friday. There’s not a typical high flyer in the bunch.

Ovaciones has his an interview with Villano V.

DTU has photos of it’s lucha libre expo show

Box Y Lucha has a video interview with Jaque Mate

CMLL (WED) 07/29 Arena Xalapa [Diario Xalapa]
1) Mascarita Dorada & Shockercito vs Pequeño Damian 666 & Pequeño Warrior
2) Lady Apache, Lluvia, Marcela vs Amapola, Hiroka, Mima Shimoda
3) Blue Panther, Shocker, Volador Jr. vs Atlantis, Naito, Yujiro
4) Mistico vs Negro Casas

Reads like a non-title match.

Super X (SAT) 08/15 Deprotivo el Recreo [DJ Spectro]
1) Dick Angelo, Jago, Negra Sexy vs Cazador, Oculto, Salvaje
2) Veneno vs Ricky Cruz
3) Psicosis & Zumbido vs Mascara Ano 2000 & Negro Navarro
4) El Alebrije & Fuerza Guerrera vs Solar I & Super Astro
5) Super Porky vs Head Hunter I
6) Angelico vs Juventud Guerrera, Black Dragon [COPA XL]

The winners of all the matches meet in a battle royal at the end to be “#1 contender of the GPWC Monster World Champion.” Last we cared, the guy who held that belt was Mesias. Probably not getting that match. Juvi hypes the promotion to el Manana, talking about the first show being in September, among other things.

Estrellas del Ring has an interview with Acapulco wrestler Dr. Aereo

New details of the AAA video game: they’re 70% done, price will be $60 and rated T.

Ras de Lona has an interview with Plata, among other stuff. Enjoy the Oro footage you really didn’t want to see. Yes, that footage. Maybe I’m different, but I’d rather see footage of Oro being an awesome wrestler so those who didn’t and haven’t seen much of him (myself included) could better appreciate what we missed out on. There was much more to his life than his death, same as true with anyone.

AAA #892 (07/04)

taped 06/07

This was OK until the nonsensical booking of the main event. The whole show long story of inept referees building to a special referee for TripleMania didn’t feel pushed as strong as it read, but then maybe the announcers made the difference.

La Parkita, Mascarita Divina, Octagoncito © vs Mini Abismo Negro ©, Mini Histeria, Mini Psicosis – really good! Parkita’s comedy is refreshing when we see it once a year, so I had no problem with him. Octagoncito was really good as usual, and everyone else held their part. I should know better, about two months later, that this whole Guapito angle isn’t actually going anywhere subtly and I should stop trying to figure out meanings; if they’re going somewhere with it, they’ll hammer me with it (and then show it again in the news section.)

Aerostar, Fabi Apache, Gato Eveready vs Billy Boy, Sexy Star, Tigre Cota – usual good match, but kinda fell apart at the end because someone forgot the finish. Or was that playing into the storyline? If I have to ask, it probably wasn’t a good idea.

Crazy Boy, Laredo Kid, Ultimo Gladiador vs Killer Clown, Psycho Clown, Zombie Clown – the match itself is nothing new, but this particular finish kinda worked better on TV than in did in the descriptions. The interview before the match set it up well. The Clowns are sick of not having equal competition, so they took out their frustration on the tecnicos, almost to their determent. Though, even as lame as this streak has been, ending it on a DQ for excessive violence would’ve taken it to a new level.

Jack Evans, La Parka Jr. ©, Octagon vs Electro Shock ©, Kenzo Suzuki, Teddy Hart – angle.

Mesias & Silver King vs Dr. Wagner Jr. & Konnan – angle, but one where they didn’t even bother having a finish, and had people not in the match fighting people they were presumably allied with. A true AAA mess.

6) CiberneticoDr. Wagner Jr. [#1 Contenders, AAA HEAVY]

2009 AAA TV Chart
Projected Air Date #900
Mexico: 08/09
US: 08/29

Not a lot in the way of angles, which makes sense for this sort of show.

After the second match, Ciberentico & Dr. Wagner ended up in the ring and agreeing to a singles match where Cibernetico got in the Verano de Escandalo main event. Cibernetico won with a chokeslam thru a table. That Mesias/Ciber/Wagner three way is not really much more intersting to me than Infierno en el Ring, but it’s sure going to mean 10x more to the average fan.

Koslov interfered in the third match to attack Romero, Sugi picking up the pin. Xtreme Tiger was hurt at the end of his match.

Coliseo, GDL, Lucha Libre Expo (Day 3)

CMLL (SUN) 07/26 Arena Coliseo [Ovaciones]
1) Camorra & Semental b Rayo Tapatio I & Rayo Tapatio II
2) Metalico, Tigre Blanco, Tony Rivera b Polvora, Durango Kid, Inquisidor
3) La Nazi, La Seductora, Princesa Blanca b Dark Angel, Estrella Magica, Lluvia
4) Angel Azteca Jr., Sagrado, Valiente b Black Warrior, Dragon Rojo Jr., Sangre Azteca
5) La Sombra, Mistico, Toscano b Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas

Lots of subs on the show: Felino for Mr. Niebla, Angel Azteca Jr. for Maximo, the entire ruda trio, and Durango Kid (!?) for Dr. X. Mistico got Negro with a casita, and challenged him to an apuest amatch for the anniversary main event. A Sunday Arena Coliseo show is perfect time to do that challenge. After the semimain, Valiente challenged Sangre Azteca for a welterweight title match, and this really is the perfect time to do that challenge.

CMLL (SUN) 07/26 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [MT, Fuego en El Ring]
1) Maldad b In Memoria
2) Hierro & Thunder Boy b Milenio & Relampago
3) Rafaga & Rey Trueno b Guerrero Samurai II & Virgo
4) Mascara Dorada, Metro, Mictlan b Euforia, Nosferatu, Virus
5) Naito, Shigeo Okumura, Yujiro b Blue Panther, Hijo del Fantasma, Shocker
6) Ray Mendoza Jr. DQ Ultimo Guerrero

V5 won the first, UG took the second, V5 fouled UG and faked a foul to get the DQ win. Nosferatu was strechered out in the second fall of his match after “an unsafe Olympic bridging suplex” by Mictlan. Rudos lost 2 on 3, but took out Mictlan’s right knee in revenge.

Alan’s comments are here and the next link…

DTU (SUN) 07/26 Centro Banamex, DF [Alan]
1) Talaxys b Angel Extremo, Amo de La Noche, Dement Xtreme, Muerte Bucanero, Aguila Misteriosa
2) Drak Finder b Black Fire
3) Dance Boy & Relampago b Paranoiko & Toxico DF
4) Dinastia L Flamita, Drastick Boy, Black Master, Hormiga, Masivo, Disturbio
5) Aeroboy b Shiima Xion and Ragade [DTU]
5) Kaientai & Kempo Dragon b Money Pack & Super Mega
7) Crazy Boy & Sugi b Jimmy Jacobs & Violento Jack

Alan has Dinastia taking Masivo’s mask. PL has it being Black Master. Maybe DTU will update their site and let us know?

I’ll break the AAA results off into a separate post in a bit.

Pictures: Alan, Al Filo del Ring, Mr. Reyes. Frank Misterio has a whole bunch of pictures: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

Reviews: Al Filo del Ring

Shows: Al Filo Del Ring on CMLL, Wagner, Mil Mascaras, MT on all the Sunday shows.

Comments on the show: SuperLuchas mentions some of the smaller issues. The biggest one from a lot of people is the inconsistency in pricing for photos and autographs. Some people would be take a picture with you for free, others would charge even for cell phones, and there didn’t seem to be any reason or clarity for the differences.

Alex Koslov talks about CMLL, AAA, TNA and ROH on his blogs. He notes it’d help AAA if they had people who knew wrestling shooting the shows.

Box Y Lucha has #2932 Mesias vs Dr. Wagner. Inside, it looks like there was an interview where Perro Jr. says he’s not talking to Cibernetico since he no-showed the GDL show. Which is odd, since they worked against each other on the main event of those 07/12 Perros shows in Nuevo Laredo, but whatever. There’s also the new TV episode.
