– DJ Spectro pictures 1, 2, 3, DTU, Perros,
– WagnerMania on Day 2 and Day 3

Look like AAA is taping 08/07 (Zacapuaxtla), 08/17 (Tehuacan), 08/21 (Madero, Verano de Escandalo), and 08/30 (Tlanepantla).

Kcidis draws Texano & Shocker.

Cesar looks at who did and did not make the Infierno en el Ring card.

Estrellas del Ring has an interview with Acapulco wrestler Dr. Aereo

New details of the AAA video game: they’re 70% done, price will be $60 and rated T.

Ras de Lona has an interview with Plata, among other stuff. Enjoy the Oro footage you really didn’t want to see. Yes, that footage. Maybe I’m different, but I’d rather see footage of Oro being an awesome wrestler so those who didn’t and haven’t seen much of him (myself included) could better appreciate what we missed out on. There was much more to his life than his death, same as true with anyone.

Luchas 2000 #480 has Metalicos, Hijo del Fantasma, and Wagner & Mesias,

WrestlingObserver has their AAA recap

LuchaWorld has Robert on IWRG 10/27/08, CMLL TV 06/07/08 and KrisZ’s news update

  1. I don’t know if it has been mentioned already but… the announcers were saying that the animated movie is hitting the theaters on October 9.

  2. I think Marcela is winning tonight. Is CMLL planning on bringing in Plata or possibly Oro II as a tribute to Oro? (I just thought of that.) You could do a poll on whether or not anything logical will happen on the next AAA TV taping .

  3. Oro would’ve been an asset to CMLL at a time when it looked like they might not survive, and needed a break through star. Very sad. I’m going to watch RdL on LATV tonight, instead of internet.

Dish Mexico is launching PPV soon. Be interesting to see if they try something with CMLL.

Besides the Wagner vs. Mesias Mania match, there’s very little happening in AAA worthy of polling.

  4. I picked Marcela because I WANT THAT RECORD BROKEN!

Holy shit if Garza is actually injured this Friday will be even more of a joke.

  5. tvguide.com is showing CMLL as 30 minutes for Saturday. Can only imagine what will air.

  6. I’m taking Marcela for the same reasons Rob is. Besides, it “makes sense” to have your ladies titles divided evenly between tecnicas and rudas (Mexican champion Princesa Blanca and World champion to be? Marcela).

As far as non-CMLL polls, if the Verano de Escandalo card is legit, I’m most intrigued about who would drop their hair/mask between Billy and Sexy vs Faby and Aerostar.

@Rob: Where is it being reported that Hector Garza is injured?

  7. It was also being covered on Tercera Caida. He caught the top rope on a dive over the top and it looked like he landed very awkwardly. He called into the show, so I don’t think its super serious, but between my limited Spanish and an unhappy baby I couldn’t make out much of what he said, just caught the video.

  8. First Rey Bucanero and now Garza… no wonder that NWA match where Texano “won” the title from Shocker lasted 8 minutes… the shortest it is, the less likely someone will end up injured.

  9. @xuisaw: Plus Shocker gets hungry every 9 minutes or so, thus they had to end the match for fear of him eating Texanito.

Even if Garza is hurt I’m sure he’ll make the cage match. You’d have to pretty much have a broken leg to not be able to work a cage match since all you have to do is climb out.

  10. It would make sense for Garza to be “injured” to have him as an underdog for the cage match… but the problem is… no one would be aware of this as it happened in a little seen show… then again, considering this is CMLL, it makes perfect sense.

I still think Black Warrior is the one going bald… but they brought the rest as a fail-safe thing.

  11. I just thought of something. CMLL really should be part of the NWA convention in Charlotte.

  12. Time for a kcidis cartoon of Blue Demon Jr. setting up his own booth outside the building where the NWA Convention is being held.

  13. The only NWA belts in Mexico are the NWA World Title which Blue Demon Jr. has and the NWA Mexican Lightweight Title which Turbo has though Skayde is the recognized champion. The rest are old NWA titles still being used but not recognized at all by the current NWA body. CMLL hasn’t been affiliated with the NWA since the 1990’s.

  14. The NWA belts in CMLL mean more than any belts the current phony NWA uses. The CMLL belts have been around since the 30’s in some cases and have been held by some of the biggest stars in wrestling history. That’s why the new phony NWA wants the belts. They know their titles mean absolutely nothing. What means more – the belt held by El Santo, Blue Demon and Rito Romero or the belt Adam Pearce won in a sham tournament and is defended in front of 20 fans by Blue Demon Jr.?

It’s always funny when someone mentions the “current NWA body”. There are more members of this phony group than fans who attend all the shows.

  15. @xuisaw: The fall didn’t really look like it was a work, he caught the top rope and was basically going head first toward the floor. The video I’ve seen didn’t quite catch the impact with the floor, so I’m not sue how well he was able to protect himself.

Whether or not they are talking it up now to build up the cage match I have no idea. One would hope that if they are going to try to use it as an angle they would at least put something up on the CMLL website about it.

  16. Rob, I agree with you. The NWA is a joke! The real NWA died in the early 1990’s. I was simply stating that the NWA doesn’t recognize the belts or CMLL, so why would CMLL be a part of one of their conventions?

  17. @Anonymous: They shouldn’t. I’m not sure why Keith suggested they should. If anything the current phony NWA should be begging CMLL to allow them to form an alliance to get that belt off Demon Jr. and have some ties to the old NWA belts that mean something.

  18. @Rob: You just explained why I think the current NWA should acknowledge that “their” belts are defended in Mexico. Plus, I think two or three luchadors would be would be good at any wrestling convention these days.

  19. The Garza injury is up on youtube. Went for a tope over the top and came straight down ala Dos Jr. (ironically enough also against Ultimo). He managed to tuck or it would have been way more serious.

  20. *shrug* Seemed legit to me b/c worked injuries are done with much safer spots, i.e. Garza tries a pescado only for Ultimo to move and Garza “hurts his ankle”. This seemed like a legit botched dive. Plus Garza didn’t show in Guadalajara the next night.

Is there going to be live coverage tomorrow? I’m guessing no.

  21. I think Dark Angel also missed a dive like that, didn’t she?

Garza said that he was ready to go to work to GDL but started to feel dizzy and nausea so went to the doctor instead. The botch was verbatim to Dos Caras Jr…

  22. Dark Angel had a couple of those kinda of missed dives.

WON is under the impression Garza’s injury was a work. I guess it could be as much to give Garza an out from another singles loss more than anything building to tonight’s cage match.

Because of my love and dedication to lucha libre (also, I have nothing to do), there will be at least a post for discussion on the show tomorrow night, and updated results whenever the radio coverage starts (and the Cubs game ends…)
