CMLL on 52MX #185 (06/06)

taped 05/31, aired 06/06

Fabian el Gitano, Flash, Stuka Jr. vs Euforia, Nosferatu, Virus – so I watched this part six weeks ago and barely remember it, but it reads like it was pretty good.

Sagrado, Shocker, Valiente vs Atlantis, Misterioso II, Ultimo Guerrero – and then I watched this two days ago, and I don’t know why it took so long in between (well, I do, but…) and this was incredible rushed and cut down. When Valiente is opting not to do dives, then it’s probably a match to pass on.

07/31 CMLL Infierno en el Ring Lineup, other notes

CMLL (FRI) 07/31 Arena Mexico [ESTO]
1) Flash, Metalico, Stuka Jr. vs Euforia, Skandalo, Virus
2) Hijo del Fantasma, La Mascara, Sagrado vs Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto
3) La Sombra, Mistico, Volador Jr. vs Atlantis, Mr. Niebla, Ultimo Guerrero
4) Shocker vs Hector Garza, Toscano, Negro Casas, Black Warrior, Terrible, Texano Jr., Naito, Yujiro, Shigeo Okumura, Blue Panther, Maximo, Ray Mendoza Jr., Heavy Metal, Mictlan [cage, hair]

They ran 5 matches on the cage match show last year, but then there’s more people in the cage this year. I guess we’ll see, but I kinda expect this to be it.

Non-cage matches could be good, but don’t look particularly special. And the cage match is the cage match. I’m wondering if I should bother with live coverage on this show.

Mexico preview, Acapuclo, pre-Expo notes

CMLL (FRI) 07/24 Arena Mexico
1) Astro Boy & Sensei vs Artillero & Super Comando
2) Angel Azteca Jr., Angel de Oro, Tigre Blanco vs Euforia, Loco Max, Skandalo
3) Mascara Dorada vs Dragon Rojo Jr. [lightning]
4) Blue Panther, Hector Garza, Toscano vs Naito, Ray Mendoza Jr., Yujiro
5) La Mascara, Mistico, Volador Jr. vs Atlantis, Negro Casas, Ultimo Guerrero
6) Shocker vs Texano Jr. [NWA LH]

Previews: Notimex, Reforma via Manana, Record, and Ovaciones, ESTO. Everyone focuses on the big title mathc, though at least one notes Mistico has a five week winning streak on the line.

Texano is 4-1 in Arena Mexico singles matches, winning the G1 Juniors tournament back in 2005, and losing the Universal championship a month ago. Shocker is 15-14. He’s won masks and hairs, and he’s defended titles, but he’s never won a singles title in Arena Mexico.

Texano losing two straight big matches would kind of establish him as a bit lower than they seem to want. Plus, he ought to have some back up here (even if none of the other Avernos are booked) to help him sneak by. I think he’s retaining, what do you think?

CMLL (WED) 07/22 Arena Coliseo Acapulco [Eventa Acapulco]
1) Guerrero & Titere b Factor Miedo & Fenix
2) Lady Apache & Marcela b Amapola & Princesa Sujei
3) Angel de Oro, Angel de Plata, Maximo b Hooligan, Misterioso II, Skandalo
4) Hector Garza, Mistico, Toscano DQ Ephesto, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas
5) La Sombra & Volador Jr. b Averno & Mephisto [CMLL TAG]

Rudos won the first fall. In the second, the recap notes there were 2 or 3 points where the rudos had a tecnico pinned, the ref counted 2 and stopped for a kickout, except the tecnicos never actually kicked out. Kinda turned the crowd on the tecnicos. Negro yanked Mistico’s mask in the semi main.

The movie about Solar is one of the highlights of today’s opening day of the Lucha Libre Expo. Solar also main events Pancracio show. Originally, he was supposed to face Negro Navarro, then Villano III, but Villano’s out with an injury and it’ll be Black Terry instead.

ESTO mentions a Hijo de Lizmark film. Sounds like a good idea, probably disappears in the end.

Proyeccion Luchistica talks to Hijo del Fantasma about his title win.

Cesar updates the records for all 15 in the cage match.

SuperLuchas previews their booth at the Expo (starting today), and announces ticket prices for the X-LAW show.

Segunda Caida checks out IWRG 07/09/09.

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update from Wednesday and Thursday, plus Rob on C3 from 05/31/08.

07/25-26 Lucha Times

box

AAA: Shiima Xion’s first (and last?) AAA match. Cibernetico/Mesias partnership has the same lifespan.

52MX: Women’s trios (a bad looking one) and a random grab bag men’s trios.

LATV: I think there’s a pattern! Which would mean Lady Apache/Amapola title match.

CMLL: Title match, trios match with six guys in next week’s cage match, and the lightning match between last year’s two Gran Alternativa finalists. Guess is, it’s not a coincidence we’re getting that specific match this week, and CMLL’s doing this year’s tournament sometime really soon.

I’m going to guess they’re skipping the semimain this week, because that makes sense as a main event for next week’s TV show, if they’re not showing Infierno en el Ring. Which I’m not even sure off.

Anyway, next week’s early guess:

07/17 Mexico: Mascarita Dorada b Pequeno Warrior [lightning]
07/10 Mexico: Mascara Dorada, Maximo, Valiente b Misterioso II, Shigeo Okumura, Virus
07/24 Mexico: Mistico/Mascara/Volador vs Atlantis/Negro

Both main lucha shows start at 4 and run for two hours this week.

AAA-MEX: Electro/HX vs Ciber/Parka/Marco, Charly/Jack vs Chessman/Teddy. Chessman & Teddy should really be a regular team. Also, Team Kenzo.

FOX: Tuareg vs Fuerza Leono + Atlantis/Niebla/Negro vs Garza/Mistico/Toscano

C3: Fantasma/Averno, setup for another title match and the cage match

Puebla: with six matches, I can be twice as wrong. The two singles matches seem gimmies, so I’ll also pick Avernos vs Panther/Dorada/Sagrado, and Minis vs Locals

Monterrey: I forget to watch and they drop my name?
