2) Leon Blanco & Metatron vs Ebola & Malefico
3) Casanova & Neutron vs Asesino Negro & Drago
4) Dark Angel & Zeuxis vs Amapola & Hiroka
5) Sagrado & Shocker vs Terrible & Texano Jr.

All tag matches! Think they might be setting up a title match in the main event.

Box Y Lucha has a roundup of articles on Espectrito II and La Parkita’s deaths. The police have arrested the “manager of the women, but think the women may have fled out of the metro area. The whole crime appears to have been very planned out; hotel workers are mentioned of having hidden information about the wrestlers stay and altering the closed circuit video from that day.

ESTO interviews Naito. The headline says he’s challenging Mistico, but that’s only in the way that every rudo challenges Mistico by existing. He’s actually more specifically interested in fighting Texano Jr. (since they fought in Japan), Hector Garza, or challenging for the tag titles.

Vanguardia talks to el Hijo del Santo about his trip to Europe. El Hijo del Santo says his father never wrestled in Europe or Asia – didn’t el Santo wrestle in Japan? Anyway, Santo also talks about innovating (in branding) and thinks the problem with his favorite fubtol team (America) is perhaps the guaranteed contracts cause the players to lose their passion and drive.

Google translates the headline of an AAA news article to “Laredo Kid in search of rats”. Article is not that interesting. They also promote a Dos de Tres story on a day with Fabi Apache. Saves you the effort of stalking her.

Many Box Y Lucha article
Hector Garza talks about his career. He says he and his brother only trained for four months before they debuted, so they had no time to pick out masks.
Ramstein says he hasn’t left CMLL, but stop training and turned up only infrequently due to personal issues. He wants to start over from a blank slate and rise. He’s training with someone who’s worked with Valiente and Volador. Ramstein says he got the name from the band, his mask was designed as a combo between comic book character Spawn and Hayabusa’s mask, and he will not talk about Fugaz with you.
Shiima Xion is hoping to do so well for AAA that they keep him around for much longer than a month.
– Same Dr. Wagner @ EAW interview that’s been discussed before.
– Villano III shares his memories of La Parkita & Espectrito II.

LuchaWorld has a KrisZ’s news update. The 4th edition of Slammin’ Stan is tomorrow night.

  1. You know, I even saw that article and thought “wow, wonder why Santo wore a different mask in Japan”, but didn’t stop to actually read it. Quite dumb of me.

  2. The story I’ve heard is that some guys were on a tour, and the guy who hired them vanished (with the money), so they were stuck there, and no one was interested in hiring them, so Ham Lee went to someone saying he was El Santo and got enough money to get the guys back home.

Don’t recall it being in Japan, though…

  3. Just a quick question … what is Sarita’s (Sarah Stock) status with CMLL starting after July 19th? I know she makes her “debut” next week on Impact, but she also starts working the regular TNA TV taping schedule:

07-20-09: Orlando, FL at Universal Studios Soundstage 21
07-21-09: Orlando, FL at Universal Studios Soundstage 21
07-22-09: Orlando, FL at Universal Studios Soundstage 21
08-17-09: Orlando, FL at Universal Studios Soundstage 21
08-18-09: Orlando, FL at Universal Studios Soundstage 21
08-19-09: Orlando, FL at Universal Studios Soundstage 21

Sarita has also been booked for her first TNA Live Events, and is already scheduled to appear at the following TNA Live events:

08-21-09: Robstown, TX at The RMB Regional Fairgrounds
08-22-09: Laredo, TX at The Laredo Entertainment Center
08-28-09: San Angelo, TX at The San Angelo Coliseum
08-29-09: Abilene, TX at The Taylor County Expo Center Coliseum
08-30-09: Belton, TX at The Bell County Expo Center Assembly Hall

  4. @CJK: Depends who you ask. I think she’ll just be working fro CMLL whenever she’s not with TNA, but I’m not sure.

    @k.D.b: Typo

  5. With TNA’s current TV taping schedule she could still easily work a regular CMLL schedule, but if they want her for “Live Events” that’s another story. I have a feeling she won’t be doing them regularly. Guess we’ll see.

I wonder if/when Ayako will show up, if she’s really signed.

  6. Ayako Hamada will be starting at the Impact tapings on July 20th! (Not sure if it will be just dark matches and promo videos or actual matches for Impact.)

  7. “Google translates the headline of an AAA news article to “Laredo Kid in search of rats”.”

That’s not a mistake. He’s looking for LOS HOMBRES RATA! Laredo Kid/Atomic Boy vs Hombres Rata I y II – Masks vs Mask – Verano De Escandalo. BOOK IT!

    The rats gimmick needs closure.

That tercera looks like a sure bet for bye bye on Puebla TV. ByL board says Centella/Policeman have been feuding and will be doing their hair match for the Anniversary Show (of the arena) on the 20th. If that match sounds farmiliar – it should. Policeman won the exact same match at last year’s Anniversary. I think this time he may be going down.

Also, since the entire month has been shows to celebrate the arena I would not be shocked to see Mistico win Mephisto’s belt in exchange for dropping his other title to Felino the night before.

“They also promote a Dos de Tres story on a day with Fabi Apache. Saves you the effort of stalking her.”

I wouldn’t worry about that since most folks here seem more busy with Sarita…

“Ramstein says he got the name from the band, his mask was designed as a combo between comic book character Spawn and Hayabusa’s mask”

That’s not true at all. He had a very differetn version back when he used to post on the ROH board. Bix can back me up if he’s reading this.

(Cubs: You know the Ramstein on ROH board story, right?)

“07-20-09: Orlando, FL at Universal Studios Soundstage 21
07-21-09: Orlando, FL at Universal Studios Soundstage 21
07-22-09: Orlando, FL at Universal Studios Soundstage 21
08-17-09: Orlando, FL at Universal Studios Soundstage 21
08-18-09: Orlando, FL at Universal Studios Soundstage 21
08-19-09: Orlando, FL at Universal Studios Soundstage 21”

Good to see TNA has expanded in their 9 years.

  8. Via Meltzer:

“–Vampiro suffered what appears to have been a broken back in a non-wrestling related incident and was hospitalized as of last word.”

Now who will stop Elegido and Teddy from getting into catfights?

  9. @Rob: I’ll bet he “retires” yet again only to return in 6 months, despite barely be able to walk.

  10. @Rob: “That’s not a mistake. He’s looking for LOS HOMBRES RATA! Laredo Kid/Atomic Boy vs Hombres Rata I y II – Masks vs Mask – Verano De Escandalo. BOOK IT!

The rats gimmick needs closure.” If this is true, then I may become a AAA mark once again. Now if they can get Los Vipers, Alebrije/Cuije,etc. to return, then it’s possible that I may be a HUGE AAA mark like was in 2006.

  11. @Kyle: I don’t remember the Nitro part.:/

As for Vamp… hopefully he’ll be alright. I’ve actually sorta developed a newfound respect for the dude lately as with the way AAA is right now there is nothing stopping him from just deciding to return to full-time wrestling and proclaiming himself to be the #1 contender for the Mega Heavyweight Title. Pena’s sister is in love with him and Konnan wouldn’t be able to stop it. The fact Vamp hasn’t done that both surprises and impresses me.

  12. Maybe you guys missed it but in byl forum, one guy referenced a record column saying that Dos Jr got upset when he got paid 900 pesos for a show (in Gdl or Acapulco, I guess) which made him go crawling to WWE begging for a job (record didn’t say that but I’m inferring).

If main eventers like Dos are being paid that, Stock is surely being paid much less, so there’s a big chance, at least for the current empty arenas era, that she’ll stay in TNA for good.

Also, with CMLL pay checks dropping that much (which made PdM et al leave), I don’t get it why AAA hiring Xima and that Sugi guy when they could be handpicking talent from CMLL’s undercard…

  13. I really do hope Vampiro is ok as well. He’s been wrestling with a broken neck for years.

  14. AAA.com says Verano De Escandalo is out of Monterrey and now being held in Madero. So there must be something going on in MTY that has driven AAA out of there completely.

  15. The rumor is that AAA wanted to make Verano in Arena Monterrey (why would they want to make it in such a crappy place is beyond me), but I guess Televisa nixed that, so they’re to Madero, where they just showed up a couple of weeks back.

They should have done it in Gdl, the Benito Juarez building is better than any place they could think of in Mty.

  16. Why do you say Arena Monterrey is crappy?

Maybe WWE having an event booked at the bullring in MTY is why AAA could not use the bullring there.

  17. @LLL: “Maybe WWE having an event booked at the bullring in MTY is why AAA could not use the bullring there.”

Nonsense. WWE couldn’t stop them from working the California arenas… much less the bullring that cost like… less than 1000 dollars to rent (owner won’t be scared of losing WWE as a client)

OTOH, CMLL is running a show there in about 10 days (WWE couldn’t stop them either), and it is said that they intend to run the building often (until the end drawing 2000 or less), so maybe that had to do with it… and Corona being upset that they can not get in there, well, Corona probably had more to do with it, it was mentioned that Corona is now selling in Crappyrena Mty, which had opened the door for VdE being there, but I bet it being Azteca’s playground didn’t suit well for the tv rights.

The only place that could be better than Benito Juarez in GDL is the baseball stadium, but it is owned by Carta Blanca. AAA should have switched the dates and held the Gdl taping in ACM and VdE in Gdl… now that I think about it, they could run Torreon, they have already got huge gates for spot shows in the baseball stadium with only 2 AAA guys matches + locals, so running VdE could work.

  18. I wonder how much beer is even sold at Lucha these days? Seems like a soda and popcorn crowd.

Now I’m trying to remember last years big AAA show in Monterrey at the bullring. Did Corona have their logo on the ring?(guess I’ll do a search on youtube) I know Coliseo MTY is a Carta Blanca venue but they allow Corona signage on the ring mat.

So why is AAA out of Coliseo MTY?

  19. Coliseo is owned by Multimedios.

Cartablanca owns the Baseball Stadium and I think it is also very likely they own the Bullring… or it is also possible that the Municipality owns the Bullring but Carta has the rights to run it. It is the case with the Baseball Stadium in Torreon, which is run by Soriana, but it is actually owned by the city.

Last year’s RdR ring had no beer logo at all.

As for how much beer they sell, my cousin trains in GYM el Ranchero, and he’s been said that they (GYM) at times get more money from beer than from tickets…

  20. @alex: “Actually TNA has been around for 7 years
    not 9 like Rob Said.”

    My bad.

Wanna make a bet that they won’t have grown any more by July 2011?

  21. Sure lets make one,TNA is growing more and more
everyday and will continue to grow and prove
people wrong like the past 7 years since it’s existence :]

  22. TNA’s PPV buyrates are near all time lows, even lower than the Fox Sports Net days when they first started the three hour monthly PPVs. For TNA to really grow and be more successful would need for Jarrett, Russo and Dixie to admit what they are doing isn’t working and that will never happen.

  23. TNA’S PPV buyrates may not do so well but neither
have WWE’S in the past year.Their ratings are the same as always but have increased at times in the past couple
of months.Plus their tv product overall has also improved and they are expanding more and more around the world.

  24. “TNA’S PPV buyrates may not do so well but neither
have WWE’S in the past year.”

So not only is TNA trying to come off as a cheaper version of the WWE by using all their old stars and having them beat their current stars but they’re also trying to copy what the WWE is currently failing at?

  25. I kindaa agree with alex there, think TNA is smart enought to bring in
”WWE’S old stars”because a fan that was watching
wrestling from the 1990’s is skiping the channels
sees x wrestler there and may soon be a new TNA fan as if they see AJ,Joe,Daniels, etc they probably won’t watch the show. And i don’t think TNA is copying WWE’S failed attempt of selling PPV’S it’s just how the bussiness is now.

  26. Honsetly why are u people talking about TNA? I think TNA is just crap. I try to watch their weekly impacts and I just get fustrated! Like this past week when Sting was standing in the parking lot pretending to be Joe. That was so cheesy and stupid. I rather watch some old WWE matches of the Repo Man than TNA!
