UG is Universal Champion, rest of Friday results

CMLL (FRI) 06/19 Arena Mexico [Dr. Lucha, Ovaciones, superluchas, ESTO]
1) Bengala & Sensei b Inquisidor & Semental
2) Flash, Pegasso, Rey Cometa b Arkangel de la Muerte, Hooligan, Skandalo
3) Dark Angel b Princesa Sujei [lightning]
4) Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto b La Mascara, Maximo, Sagrado
5) Hector Garza, Mistico, Volador Jr. DQ Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas
6) Ultimo Guerrero b Texano Jr. [CMLL Universal, final]

Main event went about 16 minutes, with most of that being in the final fall as usual. UG got Texano clean with the Guerrero Special for the win. Usual mask/hair challenges after. Box Y Lucha has a photo of Ultimo with the belt.

Mistico jumped Pesta Negra to start their match and the tecnicos took fall one. Rudos came back to take fall two. Volador & Garza diced onto Felino & Niebla at the end of the third, and Negro yanked Mistico’s mask for the DQ.

Like the Amapola/Marcela match, Dark Angel & Princesa Sujei ended very close to the time limit.

May have the segunda wrong. Seen it both ways.

Mr. 105
Mr. 105

The book “Iris Wildthyme and the Celestial Omnibus” includes a short story called “Iris Wildthyme y Señor Cientocinco contra los Monstruos del Fiesta” – see the picture over there. He’s Mr. 105 because it takes place back at during the Mexico City Olympics in 1968. That does sound like someone would’ve either teamed with or fought at Matematico.

Gotta be elsewhere, so lineups and more sometime this evening, I think.

  1. I was at Arena Mexico last night and I gotta say the UG/Texano match was pretty much a dud. The crowd had been fairly pumped all evening but the place went pretty quiet when this started. There was just no excitement. People got rowdy when UG won but possibly just so they didn’t feel ripped off. I’m kinda new to Lucha Libre and I’m still learning about techniques, moves and such but I didn’t feel there was much to look at between these two last night.

  2. Fox Sports Mexico gets Kids Day minis! First fall seemed to be clipped a bit.

Second match is going to be HdA vs Mistico/Garza/Toscono.

  3. Minis match was very short on tv. My guess is well under 10 minutes actually aired.

  4. YAY!:D I’m shocked they skipped the segunda with Valiente/Sagrado/Maximo but I’m fine with that decision.:D Editing is no surprise. Last week the 52MX show aired the mini’s from Arena Coliseo two weeks ago and it was edited to just under 7 and a half minutes. Seems like the editing has been out of control on that show so I’m wondering if they added a segment that takes up time in between the matches. We’ll never know since the guy only uploads the matches instead of the full show.

Cesar has the rudos winning the segunda last night and I’d go with him since he has PBP in his review. Sounds like the segunda was really fun and perhaps the semi-main too.

Not good news on the attendance side though as it seems like they had less than half of Arena Mexico full and the Arena Puebla ‘Fan Appreciation’s how with discounted tickets had only a 40% full building.

  5. There are no words to explain how awesome LuchaLibreNation is! I will however have to wait to watch.

  6. @Calabcd44: Nah. YouTube quality was pretty average and I’m not exactly dying to see any match on the show so I’m gonna wait since I should have a DVD of the show soon enough.

  7. @Calabcd44: Yeah I figured as much. I want to see Wagner/Mesias but figure there’s no way I’ll sit through it on my computer screen. Best chance is to watch it on DVD over a few days (I’ll probably fall asleep every time I start to watch). Nothing else on the show seems remotely interesting. Reading the results during the chat will probably end up being more fun than watching Extreme Tiger and Crazzy Boy spend 5 minutes setting chairs up.:P

  8. The Billy Boy match was ok but yeah the best thing from that show is Mesias/Wagner and it would probably be best watching it on DVD.

  9. I went to the Lucha Libre “La Experiencia” web page for the first time in a while today, and they have updated a lot of information. An updated schedule and actual cards for each of the promotions. But, these all seem to be “subject to change” since there are lots of things like Rey still being on CMLL’s card and a AAA card that looks like it was for the originally scheduled early May dates. Shima Xion shows up on the DTU card, which I would guess means that he will be working with AAA before that. Wouldn’t be surprised to see Matt Cross show up in one of the surprise slots for either DTU or AAA. Perros main event looks fun, but makes me wonder, did Aguila get kicked out of PdM at some point and no one noticed?

  10. @LLL: “Is this episode of CMLL that bad?”

I have nothing to say about that awful show.

    C3 better save the day.

  11. @Alan: When did that happen?

Metalico seems like one of those wrestlers who is constantly having an off-night…

  12. @Rob: Coming back from one of the commercial breaks they had an interview segment with the Tuaregs and they introduced Pequeno Nitro. This has me dreaming that there might someday be Pequeno Hooligan and Skandalito.

Metalico managed to look bad doing a rollup for the pinfall. I’m also a little scared that Loco Max seems to have grown a little hair. Who gets to win it this time?

  13. @Alan: I think there is a mini Holligan . A group of mini Trauregs would be one of the most AWESOME things ever, next to Peq. Misterioso & Peq. Sombra.

  14. @Alan: Oh man that is AWESOME! The mini’s division definitely needs a new face or two on the rudo side since they keep recycling the same trio in the big matches.

They should turn Peq Olimpico into Pequeno Hooligan and they already have a Mini Skandalo (ask Cubs!). Meanwhile Saturno should become full-time and Tzuki needs to come back on a regular basis. There – division fixed.:)

  15. @Calabcd44: Micros died off (not literally) ages ago. At that size you get injured doing almost anything physical and the crowds grew tired of their comedy b/c the mini’s would do the same and still be able to do acrobatic stuff the micros couldn’t.

  16. @Calabcd44: I’m more partial to a Pequeno Valiente.

I’m still waaaaay curious about who the new Metro is related to on the booking staff.

  17. @Calabcd44: Mascarita De Oro y Plata from Martha’s promotion seems very athletic. Mini Laredo Kid from Monterrey is beyond awesome but seems like he would rather wait for AAA to call and I don’t think AAA wants to add any more mini’s (which is why Atomic Boy was moved up).

  18. @Rob: Im pretty sure AAA isn’t going to add more minis which is a shame. If Mini Hombre sin Miedo & Mini Laredo Kid ever go to CMLL, re-package them and you have Peq. Valiente ( Laredo) & Peq. Sombra ( Hombre).

  19. Speaking of AAA mini’s – what time does MTY start? They might make TV although I’m hoping instead we get the GATO EVEREADY/ULTIMO GLADIADOR/REY DRAGON vs JESSY/DECNIS/someone trios match instead. Then we can officially start forcing Cubs to call this show AAA Saturday Night Heat.

  20. Just returned and got caught up on the entire mini’s conversation. Really hope I understood correctly and there is a Pequeno Nitro now.

There is already a mini Skandalo?

  21. @Alan: I can’t find the result but I’m sure there was a Coliseo opener with Mini Skandalo working one night in 2007 or 2008. Cubs suspected it was just a random small trainee that filled in for someone and wore a Skandalo mask (since the rest of the gear was just regular clothing).

  22. 2008-01-13 CMLL Arena Coliseo – Fire & Mini Skandalo b Bracito de Oro & Shockercito

If I remember right, Mini Skandalo wore the Skandalo mask (regular Skandalo wrestled the tercera), no shirt, and jeans. But I may be confusing him with the one time Mini Starman appearance (much the same deal.)

Odd that CMLL waited until Nitro was almost back to give him a mini. Maybe the guy just wasn’t ready, but I’m sure Nitro would’ve preferred getting whatever money he’s getting off this a few months earlier.

  23. Wow… Roberto Jr.’s English is AWESOME! I’m pretty sure he’s just using this show to practice instead of actually focusing on the matches.:P

  24. @LLL: What didn’t he say? He broke into English commentary throughout the semi-main. It was awesome. “The Beast – George Bush’s best friend!” was my favorite.

  25. @Rob: I only caught the end of the semi, and the horrible main. I guess he does not like Bush, the author of the amnesty bill that would’ve legalized millions of illegal Mexicans, but was voted down by Democrats in Congress. Why is everything so politicized these days?

  26. Who likes Bush anyways? But that is for another day.

The main ruled just for the Clowns being tecnicos. Better than anything on CMLL today. God that main show sucked hard.
