TripleMania Live Chat & Results

Show is over: comments are open below, and I’ll do the regular results post once more detailed notes come out tomorrow.

For those interested, we’ll be chatting about TripleMania, as it happens. You can find that chat here, and it’s live right now. Show is scheduled to start at 8:30 and will probably last close to midnight. (As it turns out, almost to 1 AM.)

AAA is hosting their own live results (+video?) on their site. There is no live video feed for the show, as far as anyone’s found, and AAA hasn’t done anything with their video.

Results will also be updated here, and at @luchablog.

Completed
1) Killer Clown, Psycho Clown, Zombie Clown b Aerostar, Laredo Kid, Super Fly
– Super Fly was strechered out. His partners were concerned, despite Super Fly’s recent attitude

2) Billy Boy, Mini Abismo Negro, Polvo de Esterllas, Sexy Star b El Elegido, Fabi Apache, Octagoncito, Pimpinela Escarlata
– Sexi has a new outfit, got good reviews
– Billy wrestled in street clothes (maybe not wrestled much?)

– Mari Apache ran into attack Sexi after the match, and the tecnicos celebrated with Elegido dancing.

3) Charly Manson, Rocky Romero, X-Pac b Cuervo Scoria, Ozz, Zorro – Zorro kicked out of X-Factor, but not a second.
– Both X-Pac and Romero cane Zorro, hard
– Zorro gets the cane, and uses it to beat up the tecnicos. Cuervo appears here (but not in the match) to help out the rudos. Pimpi and Fuerza Aerea (Aerostar/Laredo) try to make the save, get beat.
– Marisela Pena got tangentially hit in all of this. HMMMM.

4) Extreme Tiger b Crazy Boy, Alan Stone, Alex Koslov [AAA CRUISER, hardcore]
– Alex eliminated after Alan puts him (and Tiger) thru a table.
– Tiger beats Alan
– Tiger beats Crazy with a 450 splash on the floor. Tiger barely beats the count in – but what would’ve happened if he didn’t? A draw? Alex gets his title back?
– lots of table and ladder spots

5) Joe Lider & Nicho el Millionario b Latin Lover & Marco Corleone [AAA TAG]
– Latin was booed.
– Marco went to dive onto the rudos, but Tirantes tripped him up. Marco went after him, but Lider tripped him and Nicho pinned him for the win.

6) Dr. Wagner Jr. b Mesias [AAA HEAVY, UWA Heavy]
– usual main event, with chairs being used on the outside for no DQ
– AAA’s site notes the crowd is firmly behind Wagner
– both men bleed
– Mesias kicks out of a Wagner Driver
– Mesias does NOT kick out of a second one.
– Match goes around 35 minutes.

– Marco, Charly, and DMX attack Konnan and get the key, handing it to Cien to run it to the ring
– Meanwhile, Lider & Nicho prevent the AAA guys form getting out of the cage
– Cien comes back, AAA turns the tide with Jack doing a big dive on the guys
– Chessman is out next
– Konnan comes to ringside, and lays out Cien and Roldan with a chair.
– Down to Electro, Silver King vs Santo, Parka
– Electro escapes
– Konnan tries to use a fire extinguisher on Santo
– Zorro shows up – wearing his old mask?- and helped Roldan attack Konnan!.
– Parka escapes, Silver King stopping Santo instead
– King and Santo fight, Santo stops him and escapes for the win. Konnan is done, Roldans control AAA.

UG b Mistico, interviews, lineups

Other places are more qualified to talk about this, but I’d just like to point you to go look for them if you’ve not yet heard about legendary Japanese pro wrestler Mitsuharu Misawa passed away this past evening in Japan, from a heart attack after taking a back suplex. Misawa wrestled in Mexico as Kamikaze Misawa very earlier in his career. Misawa spearheaded the NOAH group, and I have no idea how/if this will change their relationship with AAA.

10) Ultimo Guerrero b Mistico [CMLL Universal, semifinal]
11) Shocker DQ Dos Caras Jr.

Not the overwhelming tecnico show of most Kid’s Days.

Main event was a battle of guys faking fouls. Dos got the first fall by faking one, Shocker tied it up with an armbreaker, and faked his own foul for the win.

Story of the tournament (and the only one people write much about) was the final. Mistico sent UG out with a headscissors and followed with a tornillo, but UG moved out of the way and Mistico hit the floor unimpeded. Guerrero brought back in, added a Guerrero Special, and got the clean pin. Mistico was strechered out after. As Alan noted in the comments last night, this is the first (documented) match ever where Ultimo Guerrero defated Mistico in a singles match – he was at least 0-10 before this.

Longest tournament match was, oddly, the Garza/Mephisto match to lead off the tournament at 7:11. It was the only match over 5 minutes.

Box Y Lucha article reposts
– As expected, Mistico took the first oppurinty he could to say he was misquoted about leaving CMLL, but he’s still definite about wanting to main event this year’s anniversary show.
La Nazi explains she’s been out with knee and back injuries. She’s wanted to visit Pierroth, but she can’t actually find them.
Super Crazy talks about dropping out of school at 14 to work, so he could pay for his wrestling school.
Bengala, who says the programming department came up with his name. That would confirm it’s a new one. He’s been wrestling four years.
– The new Metro talks about training with the olympic wrestling committee before starting in pro wrestling.
Villano III talks about wrestling the Hippies.

Fuego en el Ring interviews Kid Tiger. He explains he turned rudo because Puma Kid pointed out it was better than facing each other all the time. That sounds believable. In the seemingly ever changing family relations, Tiger Kid refers to Puma as his cousin (not his brother) and says Felino’s so much his favorite uncle, it’s like he is his father.

AAA talks to Dr. Wagner about wrestling in TripleMania tonight.

Canek, when discussing an appearance in Tabasco, declares that Wagner is afraid of him, that the golden age of wrestling is not over because he’s still around, that the WWE in Mexico is a fad and will be gone in three years, and that he’s still at the top of lucha libre.

Kcidis draws Konnan, unafraid of ghosts.

Proyeccion Luchistica has an interview with indy wrestler Black Falcon., and a video interview with the junior Piratas

LuchandoLibre has their picks for Zorro/X-Pac trios, Cruiserweight title match, and Tag title match. I must’ve missed a couple here, or they’re coming later today.

CMLL (TUE) 06/16 Arena Mexico
1) Astro Boy & Principe Valiente vs Camorra & Cholo
2) Bronco, Hooligan, Polvora vs Guerrero Maya Jr., Hijo de Ultraman, Metalico
3) Fabian el Gitano, Leono, Stuka Jr. vs Dr. X, Euforia, Nosferatu
4) Metro, Mictlan, Valiente vs Misterioso II, Shigeo Okumura, Virus
5) Naito, Ultimo Guerrero, Yujiro vs Blue Panther, Shocker, Toscano

Shocker/UG continues. Okumura in the semimain? It’s not as though someone else makes more sense, it’s a lesser amount of rudos on this show.

CMLL (FRI) 06/19 Arena Mexico
1) Bengala & Sensei vs Inquisidor & Semental
2) Arkangel de la Muerte, Hooligan, Skandalo vs Flash, Pegasso, Rey Cometa
3) Dark Angel vs Princesa Sujei [lightning]
4) La Mascara, Maximo, Sagrado vs Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto
5) Hector Garza, Mistico, Volador Jr. vs Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas
6) Texano Jr. vs Ultimo Guerrero [CMLL UNIVERSAL]

With the tournament almost over, the lightning match returns. Mistico continues to fight the Pesat Negra. Can Texano beat Ultimo Guerrero without it feeling like a massive fluke?

Different poll than usual this time; you can check as many answers as you believe true. It’s really 8 yes/no polls folded into one

AAA says they’ll start coverage of TripleMania at 8:30; we’ll probably start coverage here a little bit before then. Check the site for a post, and maybe some links. Live results will also be out on twitter.
