06/13-14 Lucha Times

Box. Everything is on at the time it usually it is.

AAA-US: All 3 cruiserweight semifinals, and a return.

52MX: Minis & random rudos vs random tecnicos

FOX/LATV: Women’s trios, and No Limit/Warrior vs Trios Champs. I’ll start listing the LATV rerun next week unless they start airing a new episode.

—-

CMLL: Universal tournament, a seemingly pointless trios with Panther/Sombra/Toscano vs Atlantis/Warrior/Niebla, and Shocker vs Dos.

AAA-Mex: Guest referee for TripleMania revealed, after TripleMania

C3: Top 4 includes more Tuareg/Angels

Puebla: I’ll guess no semimain.

Konnan cleared for TripleMania? Mexico & GDL results

Compromise today; 3 stories worthwhile to write about right now, and everything else gets held over for a day while I write the lucha times post.

According to AAA (and via Box Y Lucha), Konnan is cleared to participate at TripleMania. Of course, from Day 1 of this suspension, AAA’s said Konnan would be free to participate at TripleMania. The only difference this time is they’re saying they went to a judge who threw out the charges. The judge pointed out the incident would’ve been under the jurisdiction of the Box Y Lucha commission in Tamaulipas (since that’s where the fight happened), and not in Mexico City, and there was no complaint actually filed in Tamaulipas.

The problem here is there’s no third party confirming this, and the Record version of the article quotes Fantasma as being completely unaware of any change as late night.

The judgment makes sense and it’s not a surprise – I’ve been saying for the last week or more than Konnan’s going to end up making this show.

The problem is, I find it hard to believe something occurred just because AAA said it happened, especially since they’ve been talking as if there had been no need for a legal case up to this point.

If pattern holds to form, Fantasma interviews will turn up tomorrow saying it hasn’t happened. However, the Box Y Lucha article does say this story is supposed to be reported on Thursday and Friday, so maybe we’ll get that third party confirmation.

CMLL (TUE) 06/09 Arena Mexico [ESTO]
2) Dark Angel, Estrella Magica, SahoriAmapola, La Nazi, La Seductora
3) Arkangel de la Muerte, Loco Max, SkandaloAngel Azteca Jr., Angel de Oro, Angel de Plata
4) Felino, Heavy Metal, Lizmark Jr.Mascara Dorada, Metro, Mictlan
5) Blue Panther, Shocker, ToscanoNaito, Ultimo Guerrero, Yujiro

Rudos won the second, tecnicos took the second, and Shocker beat UG cleanly in the third. Tecnicas won the second match in straight falls.

CMLL (TUE) 06/09 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [MT, Fuego en el Ring]
6) Dos Caras Jr. & Mephisto b Hector Garza & Maximo

Fixed.

Rudos took the first, tecnicos the second, rudos clean the third. Maximo, not Garza, feuded with Dos during the match and both recaps focused on their antics instead of talking about any of the undercard.

This arena announced a week long celebration of cultural events (and a boxing show) starting June 16th, including the anniversary show on the 21nd and movies on the 22nd.

CMLL/AAA Top 10s

I always read all the comments, even if I didn’t remember to reply to them. Here’s one now:

I’m really trying to figure out some kind of ranking of CMLL (based on how the company pushes/ranks them, not ability or anything else. Kinda like how Cena is obviously #1 of WWE, with the next 5 quite clearly being HHH, Edge, Taker, Orton and Batista in debatable order). Obviously Mistico would be #1, with Ultimo Guerrero #2? From comments I’ve read Shocker would have been really high a few years ago, but less so now? Who ranks higher for the rudos, Averno, Atlantis or Negro Casas? Can anyone give me a rough idea what the top 10 of CMLL is?

Thought about this last night, and scribbled a top 10. Let’s see what I had, and please remember this is us trying to estimate how CMLL sees things right at this moment, not how we’d like to see them.

  1. Mistico
  2. Ultimo Guerrero
  3. Negro Casas
  4. Dos Caras Jr.
  5. Shocker
  6. Averno
  7. Hector Garza
  8. Mr. Niebla
  9. Blue Panther
  10. Texano Jr.

Sombra probably would be 10, but Texano kinda has to be after last week’s tournament. I don’t believe it’ll be the same a month from now.

CMLL believes Shocker is #2 tecnico (hey, he won Tuesday!), and he’s doing an even feud with Dos (who’s position is less arguable, I hope.)

What I wrote for AAA

  1. Konnan
  2. Joaquin Roldan
  3. Maricela Pena
  4. Dr. Wagner Jr.
  5. Mesias
  6. La Parka
  7. Latin Lover
  8. Marco Corleone
  9. Silver King
  10. Electroshock

and probably Zorro and X-Pac and Jack in that order, if you insist on only wrestlers, but that wouldn’t be truly accurate in terms of TV.

I’m not sure Santo should be considered if he’s just in for one show, but I guess just between Parka and Latin if I had to put him somewhere.

CMLL on Televisa #925 (05/23)

taped 05/22

I got these via files instead of YouTube (which I end up turning into files anyway), so you’re on you’re own for links.

– Hijo del Fantasma, La Mascara ©, Mascara Dorada vs Black Warrior ©, Dragon Rojo Jr., Sangre Azteca – super fun. Tecnicos held their own, but this was carried by Poder Mexica as an efficent killing machine. They’ve reached the point where they know and trust where their partners are going to be on moves, so there’s no more pauses, looks, or match stalling discussions. This Trio was working

– Blue Panther, La Sombra, Volador Jr. © vs Averno ©, Ephesto, Mephisto – this was just a match, outside of Averno submitting to DIZZYNESS. Who knew, all this time, it wasn’t the armbar that Mistico was beating him with, but the big spin part of La Mistica?

– Dos Caras Jr. ©, Negro Casas, Ultimo Guerrero vs Hector Garza, Mistico ©, Shocker – a waste of Shocker. Actually, if this was 2001-03? Shocker, this still would not be working. The Guapos were much more interesting doing a not too dissimilar act.

Mesias vs Wagner

I may be AFK today. We’ll see. Go check out Dr. Lucha and Vandall Drummond on F4.

Most of TripleMania match outcomes appear to fit in to one of two categories

(seemingly) Obvious Outcomes:
– Aerostar, Laredo Kid, Super Fly vs Killer Clown, Psycho Clown, Zombie Clown
– Charly Manson, Rocky Romero, X-Pac vs Cuervo, Ozz, Zorro
– Latin Lover & Marco Corleone vs Joe Lider & Nicho el Millionario [AAA TAG] – or at least that’s what taping said to me
– El Hijo del Santo, Jack Evans, La Parka Jr., Octagon, Vampiro vs Chessman, Electro Shock, Kenzo Suzuki, Silver King, Teddy Hart [cage, control of AAA]

Meaningless Outcomes
– Fabi Apache, Elegido, Octagoncito, Pimpinela Escarlata vs Billy Boy, Mini Abismo Negro, Polvo de Esterllas, Sexy Star – note Elegido has snuck back onto the card in Apache’s spot.
– Alex Koslov vs Alan Stone, Crazy Boy, Extreme Tiger [AAA CRUISER, hardcore] – haven’t even seen Alex win the belt yet, can’t be too concerned about him losing it.

The exception is the big one: I have no idea who’s winning Mesias and Dr. Wagner. I know it’ll be with screwnewss, because it has to be to appease everyone, but I don’t know who ends up with getting their arm raised.

Wagner’s confused status with AAA plays a part in this. I feel like I’ve read much more about this than I’ve actually cared to read at this point, and the only think I’ve defintely figured out is that Dr. Wagner will tell the story the people he’s with want to hear. If he’s with AAA, he’s just moments away from signing that exclusive deal. If he’s on his own, he wouldn’t even consider giving AAA exclusivity. At this point, there’s a definte possiblity it’s become a smokescreen to create more of a mystery, though AAA’s usually not this good about keeping those stories straight.

AAA’s pretty clear on it’s side: they’re not going to put a title on a guy who’s not an AAA guy. They surely see some great possibilities with Wagner as champion, but they also see them with Mesias as champion and there’s gotta be less headaches that way.

The only tell of the finish I’ve picked up is AAA’s subtle switch in this match. The intial promos were focused on belt versus belt, but AAA is only listing it’s championship as on the line on Saturday. That seems to hint at Mesias keeping his title (with something saving face for Wagner), and perhaps Wagner will get his win back later on while defending his title.

Totally not confident about this pick at all. What do you think?
