Mexico Preview, No Limit, Sangre wants Ultimo, AAA people unsuspended (or not?)

CMLL (FRI) 05/29 Arena Mexico
1) Astro Boy & Trueno vs Caligula & Messala
2) Angel Azteca Jr., Angel de Oro, Angel de Plata vs Arkangel de la Muerte, Loco Max, Polvora
3) Pegasso vs Hooligan [lightning]
4) Mascara Dorada, Maximo, Valiente vs Black Warrior, Dragon Rojo Jr., Sangre Azteca
5) Hector Garza, Shocker, Volador JR. vs Dos Caras Jr., Tetsuya Naito, Yurijo
6) Averno vs Blue Panther [CMLL MIDDLE]

There’s been two plot threads in CMLL the last few days: title changes and Hijos de Averno success. One of those is coming to an end tonight. Will Panther become the third new champion in four days, or will the leader of the Avernos continue their big match dominance? Elsewhere on the card, Shocker & Dos continue their feud, with Naito & Yurijo debuting. This is the last week of a ‘regular’ looking Friday lineup for a while, with the Champs tournament starting next week, and so Pegasso & Hooligan is probably the last lightning match for the time being.

Ovaciones hypes the Averno/Blue Panther match, with lots of facts and figures (as usual, directly from the wiki without acknowledgement.) There’s also a bit about No Limit (looks like something being taped for Ras de Lona.)

No Limit says they’re coming to Mexico to show that they’re the best. Tiger Hattori is with them as a NJPW rep, and Okumurua is their translator.

Sangre Azteca is looking forward to the champions tournament, and hopes to face Ultimo Guerrero. Sangre says his goal since leaving that group was to get on the same level and prove they made a mistake by not doing anything with him while he was with the team, and the tournament is a perfect opportunity to do it. That is actually a great story, and I hope they do that match. (I know it’ll be four minutes and I’ll be sad, but anything to buy into this tournament a little bit.)

Thought there was resolution between AAA and DF last night, but after reading Ovaciones this morning, not so sure. The latest Wrestling Observer had said:

– Konnan received an injunction to block his suspension
– Jack Evans suspension appears to be over
– Silver King agreed not to wear his mask

Today’s Ovaciones has Fantasma saying

– Konnan is still suspended
– Jack Evans is still suspended (and AAA’s been notified about this)
– Silver King is not allowed to wear his mask
– Rey Misterio Jr. is allowed to wear his mask, because he lost in the US and WWE sent a letter to specifically ask permission.

Honestly? I’m betting Silver King wrestles without his mask (though there’s some shenanigan involved), Konnan and Jack just wrestle, and the commission barks loud but never bites.

AAA says Zorro and X-Pac will have some special match at TripleMania.

LuchandoLibre talks to Zumbido, who was apparently listed on a poster as working on an AAA show. Zumbido says he’s never ever going back, as his experience there went back a few months after Pena died – he didn’t feel as supported by the new management, and there was lots of jealously in the locker room.

The Gladiatores has a bunch of interviews: Damian 666, Gran Apache, the EAW promoters, Dr. Wagner Jr., plus photos from Rossy Moreno’s restaurant. Congrats on reaching 3 years!.

A blog posted some pictures from the Katharsis lucha libre exhibit, now in Monterrey.

A Santo exhibit opened at Universidad Iberoamericana, which is worth it for the pictures alone.

Dos de Tres has a feature on Silver King in Japan.

LuchaWorld has Robert on AAA 02/23/08 and CMLL TV 02/16/08, as well as KrisZ’s lucha news.

Lineups:

CMLL (MON) 06/01 Arena Puebla
1) Blue Center & Iron vs Espiritu Maligno & Siki Osama
2) As Jr., Black Tiger, Principe Valiente vs Puma King, Rene Guardado Jr., Tiger Kid
3) Angel de Oro, Angel de Plata, Mascara Dorada vs Euforia, Nosferatu, Vangelis
4) Atlantis, Rey Bucanero, Ultimo Guerrero vs Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto
5) Hector Garza, La Sombra, Volador Jr. vs Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas

As Jr.’s debut. To answer the comment, Tiger Kid & Puma King have been here a bunch for guys of their level:

2008-08-11 Arena Puebla 2 of 5: Angel de Oro, Asturiano, Hijo del Faraon b Fuerza Chicana, Puma King, Tiger Kid
2008-08-25 Arena Puebla 3 of 5: Axel vs Hijo del Faraon, Astro Boy, Hijo del Fantasma, Metalik,

2009-04-20 Arena Puebla 2 of 5: Asturiano, Metalico, Starman vs Artillero, Puma King, Tiger Kid

I think the 04/20 show was pre-cancellations.

indy (TUE) 06/09 Arena Solidaridad
1) Cibernetico vs Konnan Big

The perfect matchup.

  1. The area where Rossy has her restaurant is horrible. Very scary place to be at night. I used to live down the street!

Looks like that is actually her garage turned into a restaurant. Seems she has done an okay job fixing it up because I remember it being a real dump.

  2. Hope No Limit can do better in Mexico than they did in TNA…it was like watching kientai.

  3. FYI, TVC Deportes is airing some Wagner promoted show with AAA wrestlers. I missed the first half hour, but it looks like they are getting ready to air Psycho Circus vs La Secta. Do the clowns get better opponents on nonAAA shows? They are certainly getting plenty of air time here with each of them doing quick interviews befroe the match. Interesting to see AAA guys working a 2/3 falls trios match

  4. @Alan: OK, I take back the last sentence of the previous post. Three fall match went about 10 minutes.

  5. @Joe Lider With the current mindset in the US anyone who does not speak English will not be a star.

  6. @Kyle: Awesome tag spot in the opener for the second fall finish! Most of the show was pretty horrific though. Emperador Azteca better be Horus!

  7. @Rob: I caught the opener on the replay later in the evening. Really the only thing worth watching on the show. Everything else seemed to both be clipped and kind of horrible. Some decent spots in the Copa Wagner matches, but nothing all that great.
