5) Blue PantherLa SombraVolador Jr.AvernoEphestoMephisto
6) Dos Caras Jr.Negro CasasUltimo Guerrero DQ Hector GarzaMisticoShocker

Negro replaced Atlantis in the main event; not sure if there was a late change, but Atlantis was definitely in the building. Rudos won the first fall clean, then Shocker accidently pulled off Dos’ mask for the DQ in the second.

Atlantis, Ultimo and Rey turned up in the semimain to attack Ephesto. While that was going on, Panther beat Averno clean, and they both agreed to a title match at some point. If Panther wins, does he get in the tournament?

Ovaciones says Mini Olimpico easily beat Mini Universo. Sensei replaced Ramstein in the opener.

Edit: Both Cesar and SuperLuchas have Ramstein in the opener and the rudos winning the fourth match. This is why newspaper are dying.

SLP wrestler Coyote Azul is celeberting 25 years of wrestling.

Ohtani’s Jacket watches some post-flu IWRG & AULL.

Cesar matches Santo & Wagner’s words with actions.

AAA looks back at the biggest winners from each TripleMania.

Will update this post with lineups when they show up.

Edit 2: lineups

CMLL (MON) 05/25 Arena Puebla
1) Fuerza Chicana, Mr. Rafaga, Sauron vs Asturiano, Centella de Oro, Tigre Rojo
2) Estrella Magica, Lady Apache, Lluvia vs Princesa Blanca, Princesa Sujei, Yezca
3) Flash, Metro, Stuka Jr. vs Dr. X, Loco Max, Skandalo
4) Hijo del Fantasma, La Sombra, Volador Jr. vs Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas
5) Mistico vs Ultimo Guerrero

CMLL (TUE) 05/26 Arena Mexico
1) Rayo Tapatio I & Rayo Tapatio II vs Apocalipsis & Ramstein
2) Marcela, Sahori, Star Fire vs Amapola, Crazy Star, La Seductora
3) Bam Bam, Mascarita Dorada, Shockercito vs Pequeño Damian 666, Pequeño Warrior, Pierrothito
4) La Sombra, Mistico, Volador Jr. vs Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas
5) Rey Bucanero vs Ephesto [CMLL LH]

This is the first time I can remember CMLL building a feud over different days of shows in a great while. And it’s not a fan apperciation show – if it actually works, they make money from it. Strange for CMLL to do something like that.

CMLL (FRI) 05/22 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Novato vs Ebola
2) Astaroth vs Depredador
3) Silueta vs Magnifica
4) Magnum vs Dragon
5) Meteoro & Saturno vs Palacio Negro & Virgo
6) Mascara Dorada & Sagrado vs Black Warrior & Dragon Rojo Jr.
7) Blue Panther, Mictlan, Shocker vs Averno, Terrible, Texano Jr.

Note this means most of Ephesto’s friends won’t be around to help him. Mephisto may still be there. Misterioso, if he’s still in this group.

CMLL (FRI) 05/29 Arena Mexico
1) Astro Boy & Trueno vs Caligula & Messala
2) Angel Azteca Jr., Angel de Oro, Angel de Plata vs Arkangel de la Muerte, Loco Max, Polvora
3) Pegasso vs Hooligan [lightning]
4) Mascara Dorada, Maximo, Valiente vs Black Warrior, Dragon Rojo Jr., Sangre Azteca
5) Hector Garza, Shocker, Volador JR. vs Dos Caras Jr., Tetsuya Naito, Yurijo
6) Averno vs Blue Panther [CMLL MIDDLE]

No Limit goes straight to the top. For someone’s who not in this feud anymore, Hector Garza sure finds his way into every single Shocker/Dos Jr. match. This could be a really good show.

CMLL (SUN) 05/31 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Thunder Boy & Virgo vs Acertijo & Azazel
2) Casanova & Nube Roja vs Asesino Negro & Rafaga
3) Metal Blanco & Neutron vs Mr. Trueno & Rey Trueno
4) Blue Panther, Maximo, Mictlan vs Black Warrior, Dragon Rojo Jr., Sangre Azteca
5) La Sombra, Mistico, Volador Jr. vs Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas

Semimain in Mexico on Tuesday is main here on Sunday.

CMLL (SUN) 05/31 Arena Coliseo
1) Bengala & Principe Valiente vs Puma King & Tiger Kid
2) Guerrero Maya Jr., Hijo de Ultraman, Starman vs Rene Guajardo Jr., Skandalo, Vangelis
3) Fabian el Gitano, Flash, Stuka Jr. vs Euforia, Nosferatu, Virus
4) Sagrado, Shocker, Valiente vs Atlantis, Rey Bucanero, Ultimo Guerrero
5) Hector Garza, Hijo del Fantasma, La Mascara vs Dos Caras Jr., Tetsuya Naito, Yurijo

The three new juniors all start in the same match. In the lineup I have, he’s listed as “Hijo de Ultraman”, which would mean someone different than the Ultraman Jr. we’re familiar with. Have to see how that works out, but it’s amusing they teamed him up with Starman from the first match. Guerrero Maya was Black Terry, so there’s a hint (though I don’t think this Jr. has posted in the comment section – rumor has it, he’s a name you may be familiar with from Thursday cards.)

That’s the trios champs randomlly together in the main event, and we are about two weeks out from a Fan Appreciation show here. Note the eternal Arena Coliseo Tag feud resurfacing in the tercera as well.

  1. Mr. Niebla trying to rape Maximo and then Lizmark Jr. getting constantly kissed was way too funny. I’m guessing nobody on the ByL forum saw it b/c they claim only AAA does silly stuff like that.:P

  2. FWIW, AAA’s listing for the Tlaxaca taping saying the mystery tag team is Roldan’s last two entrants for the cage match. So, probably Vamp & Elegido and not Jack.

  3. ACM started with Mexican Powers(Crazy Boy and Ultimo Gladiador) vs Dark Family(Ozz and Escoria.)

  4. Sorry to ask for the link for ACM again. This time, I’ll put in on my favorites.

  5. Black Mamba, Kaientai, Lord Byron vs Aguila Extrema, Dralion, Street Boy from 5/12 is airing now.

Lord Byron looks like he’s American by his outfit. You can tell the difference between the AAA event on Sunday and the local events on Tuesday by the way hardly anyone is there on Tuesday and the Sunday cards the crowd is usually packed. Well for ACM standards.

  6. The tag match was fun mostly because Zorro is awesome and Shock doing his best La Parka dance. Man La Parka is totally useless in the ring now except for his comedy.

  7. Any chance the HD Sicodelico match will appear on YouTube? I am interested in seeing it because I have followed him since his debut in 4/08 and would like to see his progression. Thanks.

  8. CatchChannel posted 52MX as:
Flash, Pegasso, Rey Cometa vs Hooligan, Loco Max, Skandalo
Atlantis, Rey Bucanero, Ultimo Guerrero DQ Black Warrior, Terrible, Texano Jr.

    which leaves FOX with
Hector Garza, Mistico, Sagrado b Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas

    and one of
    – Dark Angel, Lady Apache, Sahori vs Crazy Star, Mima Shimoda, Princesa Blanca
    – Bam Bam, Mascarita Dorada, Shockercito b Pequeño Damian 666, Pequeño Violencia, Pequeño Warrior

  9. @thecubsfan: Or Stuka/Dorada/I forget the other vs Euforia/Arkangel/Okumura!

Hopefully mario puts up the show as he usually does with Fox Sports.

  10. Fox Sports doesn’t seem to be replaying down here today. Looks like there is a replay on Tuesday, so I’ll be trying to catch that one.

  11. Arean Coliseo is aweome live. It may be the smallest place I have ever seen a show. Also, I swear the ring ropes are water hoses. I’ll have to look closer the next time I am at Arena Mexico, but I don’t believe this is the case there. On the downside, the minis were moved off the show. The replacement match was definitely not of equal value. I sat front row, three seats off from the entrance.

Sensei & Metalico beat Super Comando & Artillero-Fun opener. I never expect Comando and Artillero to be good, but they were fun. Sensei was also better than I expected.

Princesa Sujei, Amapola, & La Nazi beat Lady Apache, Sahori, & Estrella Magica-So instead of getting to see Bracito de Oro for the first time, I have to watch La Nazi for the first time? That hardly seems fair. On the bright side, Amapola is always good. Estrella Magica makes some of the ring girls look large.

Okumura, Arkangel & Loco Max beat Leono, Rey Cometa & Pegasso-Getting to see Rey Cometa and Pegasso for the first time was great even if this wasn’t their best match ever. Getting to see Leono was less exciting.

Volador, La Mascara & La Sombra beat Hijo de Lizmark, Dragon Rojo & Misterioso-This match was great even with Lizmark. Why isn’t Misterioso in Poder Mexica so we could be setting Up Volador/Sobra vs Dragon/Misterioso? Good triple dive in the second fall resulted in Sombra and Dragon landing at my feet. Sombra’s tornillo is awesome up close.

Averno, Mephisto & Ephesto beat Atlantis, Ultimo Guerrero & Rey Bucanero- First fall was a brawl with the HdA attaching Rey on his way to the ring. Averno/Mephisto hit their finishers on Guerrero/Atlantis for the pin. GdA take control in the second fall with Rey ripping Ephesto’s mask and Guerrero/Atlantis getting Averno/Mephisto with Atlantidads. Third fall saw a double dive by Guerrero and Atlantis with Ephesto using his twisted leg rollup move (never figured out if this has a name) on Rey to get the pin. Rey issues a mask challenge, Ephesto remembered that they have a title match coming up already. Rey and Ephesto brawled to the back. Crowd was very pro Guerreros.

Fun show, and I’ll probably go back to Coliseo at some point. Too bad they have decided to run the fan appreciation shows at Arena Mexico since I think Coliseo would be a lot of fun with a full house.

  12. “Good triple dive in the second fall resulted in Sombra and Dragon landing at my feet”

okay, this has to air next week.

  13. Glad you had fun Alan. Coliseo is small, and I don’t really think it holds 5,000. I’ve been there, and the only thing I didn’t like about it is the lack of public transportation.

Can’t wait to see you on television. They usually get in good crowd shots.

  14. @Alan: I feel guilty now b/c it was only Wednesday or Thursday that I posted somewhere else never to beleive cmll.com lineups b/c ESTO always has the final correct cards. And of course if you check the ESTO website now you can see they had the ladies in place of the mini’s. I shoulda warned you.:(

  15. @Rob: I definitely thought of your comment about the cmll.com lineups when I got there and saw the revised lineup. But, it was an enjoyable show even without the minis, and I’ll try to catch them there sometime in the future. I’m torn on which match I hope airs next week on Fox Sports (and hopefully LATV). Sombra/Volador/Mascara vs Dragon/Misterioso/Lizmark was probably the best match on the card, even if the technicos have put on better matches this year. The main event was fun though and more important to the current storylines. Plus, Rey/Ephesto did some weird move I couldn’t quite make out since it was going to the other side of the ring. It was built around the slide Rey does on his stomach under the bottom rope to the floor (generally landing on his face after getting tossed by a tecnico, but he did it into a splash in TNA last year). But, this time he and Ephesto slid to the floor at the same time, but I couldn’t see the landing to see how they finished it. Rey got up and continued on the offensive, so he must have hit something as they landed. I’m guessing if it went smoothly it will make its way into their singles match on Tuesday too.

  16. @Alan: Well the current format seems to be third/fourth match air on 52MX and the main makes it onto Fox Sports/LATV.

But of course just by mentioning that I’m sure we’re now jynxed.

  17. CMLL.com says that Principe Valiente teamed with Sensei on friday, but the pics show Trueno. What a crap.

  18. @thecubsfan: Just to close the loop on Fox Sports, it looks like they are airing the minis and the main from last Sunday.

Attempting to apply logic to CMLL is probably futile, but I would think they would air the GdA vs Avernos on 52MX next week since they aired a match from that feud there last week. That would leave the semimain and maybe Angels vs Tauregs from Friday for Fox Sports which could be a fun show.

  19. @Rob: I’ve got it on vhs…haven’t had a chance to watch it yet, but if its great and doesn’t show up elsewhere, I can be helpful.

  20. @Alan: It should pop up if not online then at least in 2 or 3 months when Alfredo gets the newest batch of DVD’s in from Mexico so no worries. Maybe by then LATV will even be on the repeat episode of last week’s show and air the right episode for a change?

  21. good show. minis match was decent, but felt quick. Didn’t watch closely enough to see if it was clipped or not. Odd to see the build up to the hair match on a show where it will almost certainly not air.

So, this is probably something that I am the only one that cares about it, but I thought it was nice to see Mistico and Sagrado come out in matching combined masks and outfits. Volador/Sombra/Sagrado have done this a fair amount in the past, but nice to see Mistico pass this type of rub on to someone clearly quite a bit lower on the card than him normally. If only Niebla and Felino would come up with something similar for Pesta Negra. Pesta was in great comedy form here which may be the perfect rudo combo for a Coliseo match.

  22. @Alan: Oh Alaaaaaaaaan…

    EFESTO!

    EFESTO!

    EFESTO!

    WOOHOO!

Now I will grab a Molson Canadian, sit back in my comfy chair and stare amusingly as cubsfan goes crazy when Rey Bucanero still gets booked in the champions tournament.

  23. Shit, Ephesto won? Guess I’ll grab a Modelo and wait for cubsfan to go crazy too. And be sad that this will probably result in Ephesto losing his mask and making the Triad of Terror less terrifying.

That being said, congrat to Ephesto. And let me be one of few people on the luchablog in the past few months to say “Rob was right.”

  24. @Alan: Hey now, even I am allowed to make a lucky guess every once in a while! Look at the ONE PERSON (Keith) who picked Villano over Panther back in September!

Efesto won after the doctor said Rey Bucanero was unable to continue so I guess we won’t know for sure till we see it on Saturday as to whether that was a planned finish or if Bucanero really hurt himself.

  25. @Rob: Heh, just playing on the a couple of “Rob was wrong” comments over the last few weeks (some of which, notably Latin showing up for AAA again, were correct). I’ll certainly admit that I was probably predicting an incorrect conclusion based on expecting a US booking style (guy who wins going into the title match will lose) and thinking that Rey had grown out his hair in order to cash in, and hopes that they would keep the Triad in their masks. I’m actually thrilled that Ephesto got a singles title, but I feel like Rey probably had more potential to keep the title in the light of day if he was given a chance. Hopefully Rey wasn’t actually hurt and both come out of the match looking good.

  26. @Alan: I spent 1999 – 2008 predicting everything right in the world of Mexican wrestling. I’m taking this year off!

Rey Bucanero vs Efesto – Hair vs Mask on June 12th? Hmmm…

  27. @Rob: You got tonight right, so clearly you aren’t taking the whole year off.

Did they announce a stip match for the 12th?

  28. SCORE! The Puebla show went up on youtube MINUS the women. The producer of that show = GENIUS.
