Mexico results, GDL cancelation notes, Mother’s Day Lineup changed

ESTO puts the turnout as just over 2000, a low low turnout (though more than they seem to do for a lot of Tuesday and Sunday shows.) Record has some pictures which show the ‘no one can sit next to another’ order was pretty much ignored. The article also mentions they had everyone come down to ringside so it’d look a little less awful on TV.

Earlier, I asked why La Mascara was in the main event. Turns out, it was to set up a title match. He got Negro clean with la campana and challenges were exchange for the welterweight championship, though we may be a couple weeks away from that.

I’m not exactly sure what the finish was in the semimain – I’ve seen Shocker yanking Dos’ mask for a pin and Dos getting himself DQed against Shocker. Either way, seems like the feud has switched from Dos/Hector to to Dos/Shocker.

Misterioso doesn’t get to go to Japan, but he gets to beat Metro in a bonus match! (Poor Misterioso.)

As mentioned last night, Arena Coliseo Guadalajara is staying off for two more weeks due to flu deaths in the area. Apolo Dantes says they’re canceling all shows up to and including the Tuesday May 19th show. First show back would be May 24th. Refunds are being handed out for the Friday show, which Dantes says was planned to be taped. All the wrestlers found out about the show being canceled as they were making their way there, and had to turn around and go home. SuperLuchas says Record’s show will be on June 20th, so that’s when last night’s CMLL show will be rescheduled.

Tommorrow’s show has had a some wrestlers bolted on to make up for no GDL show.

Match 4 and 6 are the new ones. I don’t think I’ve seen CMLL have seven matches before when it’s not been a tournament or something. This will clearly change what airs next weekend – no chance of the minis or women.

The Kid’s Day show has been rescheduled to “sometime this summer”

Given a couple weeks off to think about things, Averno has decided he now wants a triangle apuesta match with Mistico & Negro Casas at the Anniversary show. That’s what too much time off does to your mind. Averno would welcome Dos Jr. into Hijo del Avernos if he wants to join, but he’s not going to force anyone to join.

WWE has announced new lineups for it’s Mexico tour at the end of the month, which would confirm it’s still on. Wrestling is also on in Torreon this weekend.

  1. Interesting how Mistico didn’t win one of the falls for his team.

So Shocker vs. Dos Caras is a feud. That would be a big stip match and victory for Dos.

  2. The tercera & the main look good. Is CMLL still airing the lightning matches? Because the Misterioso/Metro match looks good aswell.

  3. Fox Sports Mexico aired matches from the Sept 19 Arena Mexico show. Averno/Mephesto/Ephesto vs Fantasma/Mascara/Volador and Heavy Metal/Lizmark/Niebla vs Marco/Dos/Garza. Way to give Marco some air time CMLL/Fox Sports!

  4. It’s a missing Aniversary match so I’m not complaining!

    CMLL TV has:
    – last night’s main
    – Villano vs Ultimo

    Looks like that’s it.

  5. Hmmm… CMLL.com has the new lineups. I wonder if the mini’s aren’t bumped from tomorrow’s show since the same match is booked next Friday?

No continuation of the Mascara/Negro deal it seems.

More women making their non-televised debuts.

  6. And wow, someone please tell me that Mendoza just forgot his Villano outfit and isn’t going to wear the shorts every show.

Not many of the flu masks actually covering peoples faces. And people definitely aren’t leaving any seats between them. I wonder if that was a CMLL decision if they moved everyone to ringside.

  7. Mendoza reminds me of Bestia Salvaje at first glance.

    I don’t like the horns.

Shocker vs. Dos hair vs. horns?

  8. I was going to say the same thing – I thought Bestia Salvaje was resurrected!

  9. Next week’s lightning match better air!

Not that I haven’t said this five billion ways, but how hard would it be to upload the lightning match to YouTube each week? It’s under 10 minutes, easily fits the time requirements, they throw it on their page, and they get to highlight someone. If the point of the match is to showcase them, show case them.

Dragonmania was supposed to be today. (It’s not, they canceled earlier this week.) Wonder if they’ll run it at the end of the month instead.

  10. @jim: Yeah, they aired the rest of the show over the last two weeks. I believe only Mistico/Casas had aired before that.

  11. It’s scheduled as ‘Lucha Libre CMLL’ unlike last week when it was ‘La Mistica de Mistico’ so probably a repeat episode or as I predicted last week – a bunch of title matches from this past year.

What has TVC Deportes been airing instead of Puebla and IWRG? Repeats?

  12. @Rob: Not sure what they have been airing on Sunday nights in place of Puebla, but I don’t remember seeing Lucha Libre on their schedule last weekend. World Diving Championships aired in place of IWRG on Monday.

  13. LATV has a repeat of #106

    08/10/2008:
Pequeño Damian 666, Pequeño Violencia, Pequeño Warrior b Bam Bam, Fantasy, Último Dragoncito
La Máscara, Sagrado, Valiente b Ephesto, Mephisto, Texano Jr.

  14. C3 looks to a best of… if you want to call it that. Goddess/Sujei was adverised and Mictlan/Loco Max too. So I *really really really* don’t want to use the word ‘best’.

  15. @Rob: Instead of best, they could say(we havn’t been running shows in two weeks, so watch this shit instead.) :)

  16. Or Cadena Tres figures that only “gringo” or Canuck freaks watch lucha libre on a saturday night and want to piss us off.

  17. @calabcd44:

And I am not gringo at all. Perhaps I should have used “gaijin”.

  18. Don’t worry, everything will be back to normal next Saturday with TZUKI in action around this time. All will be right with the world!

  19. Now we get to see Loco Max losing his hair to Mictlan.

If Tzuki were to run for president, I am curious as to whether or not Mistico would do stump speeches on his behalf.

  20. Shocker vs Ultimo Guerrero for the CMLL World Heavyweight title is the main event of the Cadena Tres special.

  21. Lucha needs more Swine Flu masks for refs to wear. That was awesome. And you guys are right, Mendoza really does look like Bestia.

  22. In sad news, I think Veo TV has run out of however many episodes they bought from CMLL. The show yesterday and today were both repeats from March ’07 Sunday Coliseo shows. They appear to be back to the begining of the cycle. I’ll check again next week but I’m thinking this new source for CMLL footage is done.

  23. HOLY CRAP. Heavy Metal’s bump off Marco’s dropkick from the FSE show yesterday was AWESOME! That’s some scary shit if you don’t aim your landing properly.

  24. @Alan: @Rob: Quick follow up on TVC Deportes. I’m not sure what they aired th past two weeks, and I missed the first half hour plus, but they currently seem to be airing lightning matches from Arena Mexico in place of Puebla. They just finished Super Comando vs Pegaso and are now on to Astro Boy v Caligula. I’m still in the middle of the match, but I don’t think its the edited version from Fox Sports.

  25. OK, show is called “matches relampagos” and they are now on Flash vs. Povora. I’m taping the last 50 minutes on vhs and will try to get figure out how to get it online if it doesn’t show up. Sox/Rays was great, but if the first hour wasn’t captured somewhere, I’ll be pissed.

  26. sadly it looks like the last 40 minutes is going to be the minis cage match from Puebla, so maybe nothing new aired?
