This taping looks like it’s going to be pretty interesting, at least from a story point.

Looking at the bigger picture: this is the first TV matches for Black Abyss and Mini Abismo Negro since Abismo Negro’s death was public knowledge. From what we can tell so far, they’re going to honor Abismo’s memory by continuing their roles. I don’t have a problem with that for Mini Abismo, but since Black Abyss’s character is just Evil Clone, I can’t help but think it’ll be awkward. This bit may resolve itself by the end of the show, so I’m not too focused on it now.

Main event is Winner Gets A Title Shot At TripleMania, and they actually filled it out with not-impossible candidates; it’s not as though they filled it with Charly or Marco where a tecnico/tecnico match was certain not happen. I don’t want to see Vampiro/Mesias, but they’ve shown a willingness to do it – same with Zorro/Mesias, and Electroshock won Rey de Reyes (and they actually kinda remember.) Wagner’s the guy they’ve been building to win this, but they still could do a bit where Electro gets a cheap win, only for Wagner to beat him later for the title shot.

Could you see Laredo on top of Psycho Clown for the pin? Right after Marco does something big to clear out Killer? I can.

Jack vs Extreme Tigre is the first second round match. It might also be a rudo/rudo match, except Extreme Tiger seems flip back and forth depending on if KENTA is around, and Jack’s seemingly headed to the tecnico side.

First TV matches for Brazo and Decnnis since January. It seems like a random assortment of guys to just get them on TV.

Surprise wrestler in the segunda may be a surprise wrestler to AAA at the moment. Angel would fit there, but he’s confirmed last week’s rumor – he’s left AAA as well. What might make sense is moving Gato Eveready down from the third match, and using Ultimo Gladiador in his spot.

Minis trios match, no champ. Will they have a title match before TripleMania?

AAA #875 (03/07/09)

AAA #875, 03/07/09: Didn’t really dig this episode.

Minis just existed to tease the title match they’re still not doing and provide bodies for the rudos to beat up yet again (nice touch by giving minis rare promo time just to talk about Konnan).
– lame finish didn’t help, but there’s been better Apaches/Morneos/Billy matches than this one
Kenta/Tiger vs Alex/Rocky might have been technically fine, but I didn’t really get into it.
Nicho/Lider/Zorro vs Silver King/X-Pac/Parka wasn’t technically fine. Oh no.
Chessman vs Mesias was nice as a profile of Piero, The Only Man Who Counts People Out. Mesias needs stop doing matches built around him selling a body part because he can’t do it while doing his offense, and you can’t build up sympathy for overcoming something that doesn’t appear to be bugging him in the first place.

That main event looks familiar.

04/19: Coliseo, GDL

CMLL (SUN) 04/19 Arena Coliseo [Record, Ovaciones]
1) Molotov & Sensei b Apocalipsis & Ramstein
2) Fabian el Gitano, Metalico, Tony Rivera b Arkangel de la Muerte, Dr. X, Hooligan
3) Lady Apache, Marcela, Sahori b La Nazi, La Seductora, Princesa Blanca
4) Black Warrior, Felino, Heavy Metal b Shigeo Okumura, Stuka Jr., Valiente
5) Blue Panther, La Mascara, La Sombra DQ Dos Caras Jr., Lizmark Jr., Negro Casas

Dos fouled Panther for the DQ. Didn’t wear the body paint for Sunday’s show. Okumura replaced Metro and turned on his partners in the third fall. Poor attendance, blamed on the Chivas/America game.

CMLL (SUN) 04/19 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [MT]
4) Dragon Rojo Jr. & Sangre Azteca b Pegasso & Rey Cometa
5) Atlantis, Misterioso II, Ultimo Guerrero b Gallo, Mascara Dorada, Mictlan

Gallo replaced Shocker. Quite the night for the rudos, who won the top 2 matches in straight falls.

indy (SUN) 04/19 Gimansio Ricardo Delegado [Por Esto]
1) Super Kin b Pegaso (Local)
2) Espontaneo & Jungle Verde vs Comodin & Silver Star
3) Bronco (local) & Leon Rojo Jr. b Ala Dorada & Super Sonico Jr.
4) Astro Negro DQ Corsario Jr. [mask]

Corsario, rudo, was helped by other rudos thru the match, but Astro Negro faked a foul for the DQ and mask win. Corsario was revealed to be Encarnacion Ocampo – from Cancun, 10 years a wrestler and son of Corsario Negro – but he and his rudo friends stomped down Astro Negro after the match for his trick. In response, the commission fined one of the other rudos 5000 pesos ($376 USD) and also took away his right to promote shows.

In Benito Juarez, AAA (via Dr. Morales) is trying to pass the blame of the false Abismo Negro wrestling after the real one had passed away on the local commission, saying AAA informed them ahead of time. If this is accepted, that means there’s a commission person who knew who didn’t tell anyone, and one commission person is to submit their resignation today.

WagnerMania has an interview with the Doc on Zorro and Konnan and looks at rudo Dos Caras Jr.

Elegido explains he doesn’t feel influenced by Latin Lover or comparable to him, because he’s a masked dancing wrestler. Much more about defending being a dancing luchador in the match.

LuchandoLibre talks to the EAW Promoter.
