04/19: AAA in the toliet, NWA

What AAA’s recap of Friday night’s taping missed (hermes_messias on SML): in a backstage bit, Zorro and X-Pac fought to the bathroom, where Zorro dunked X-Pac’s head into a toilet that was colored (or otherwise altered) to look very recently used.

NWA MEXICO (SAT) 04/18 Auditirio Municipal de Teolyucan [Black Terry Jr.]
1) Odiseo b Arkanos
2) Avisman b Extrano
3) Eragon b Rey Lobo
4) Celestial & Turbo b Mr. Tanaka & Skayde
5) Angelico & Super Astro b Black Terry & Negro Navarro
6) Blue Demon Jr. & Huracan Ramirez b Hijo del Cien Caras & Veneno

Veneno replaced El Dandy. I wish they did the Demon/Dandy title program with Veneno, because it seems like he’d be there more consistently.

Ovaciones says add Diabolica to the list of AAA departures. I’d assumed she was gone until she just worked a TV taping. The note mentions she hopes to get back in CMLL.

DJ Spectro says Rey Misterio Sr. had third herniated discs and lost mobility in his legs as a result. He’s to undergo emergency surgery.

La WagnerMania has it’s own recap of the Wagnermania show in Torreon, slightly less critical than the newspaper version.

Dr. Morles says US wrestling is not a threat to Mexican wrestling, because they’re different products for difference audiences. He also says everything in lucha libre is real except for maybe ten seconds of acting.

Cesar rates Misterioso, Mascara Dorada, Hijo de Fantasma, Olimpico, Ultimo Guerrero, Sangre Azteca and Dos Caras Jr. – poor Cesar rating his look right as he changes it, but at least I now understand what two faces is supposed to mean. I don’t know how Sangre’s greatest moment doesn’t include the run of La Alianza.

AAA posts PWI 500 positions of AAA wrestlers, from 2007. Why? “Yay, our best wrestler was rated 60 two years ago in a US magazine (and also we’re ignoring Cibernetico this week?)” I dunno. BTW, the streaming video thing is a lot less impressive when it was pointed out in the comments that it was just pulling from YouTube. If I’m lover_ice or roberto or anyone else, this is a fine time to start putting in pre-roll ads or scrolling plugs during the video.

I’m never ever getting on AAA’s press release list, am I? SIGH. I also take this as AAA endorsing their video being used this way on video sharing sites (though I doubt it’s meant to be.)

SuperLuchas #311 has rudo Dos Caras Jr. on the cover. Inside, there’s interview with Pierroth’s daughter, who explains her father is still rehabbing but does not plan a return to the ring. She says they haven’t spoken to CMLL or heard from CMLL since Pierroth’s stroke. I hope, if they’re waiting for him to come to do that retirement match, they stop waiting and just run a benefit show for him already.

LuchaWorld has Robert on 01/19/2008 AAA and Lucha Libre Azteca 73, as well as KrisZ’s news update.

CMLL (TUE) 04/21 Arena Mexico
1) Rayo Tapatio I & Rayo Tapatio II vs Apocalipsis & Semental
2) Caligula, Messala, Polvora vs Angel Azteca Jr., Angel de Oro, Angel de Plata
3) Bam Bam, Mascarita Dorada, Shockercito vs Pequeño Damian 666, Pequeño Universo 2000, Pequeño Warrior
4) Hijo del Fantasma, Sagrado, Valiente vs Black Warrior, Lizmark Jr., Misterioso II
5) Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto vs La Mascara, Mistico, Volador Jr.

Minis in the tercera! Always good. Mini Universo hasn’t been around much since the run of cage matches and I don’t know if we’ve got a read on him yet. Also, that Mistico guy.

CMLL (FRI) 04/24 Arena Mexico
1) Molotov & Sensei vs Apocalipsis & Ramstein
2) Hiroka, Princesa Blanca, Princesa Suje vs Lady Apache, Lluvia, Sahori
3) Mascara Dorada, Metro, Stuka Jr. vs Euforia, Nosferatu, Virus
4) Mictlan vs Dragon Rojo Jr. [lightning]
5) Blue Panther, Maximo, Volador Jr. vs Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas
6) Dos Caras Jr., Terrible, Texano Jr. vs Hector Garza, La Sombra, Shocker

CMLL (FRI) 04/24 Arena Mexico
1) Molotov & Sensei vs Apocalipsis & Ramstein
2) Hiroka, Princesa Blanca, Princesa Sujei vs Lady Apache, Lluvia, Sahori
3) Mascara Dorada, Metro, Stuka Jr. vs Euforia, Nosferatu, Virus
4) Mictlan vs Dragon Rojo Jr. [lightning]
5) Blue Panther, Maximo, Volador Jr. vs Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas
6) Dos Caras Jr., Terrible, Texano Jr. vs Hector Garza, La Sombra, Shocker

You know, if Sahori never turns out to be good, it won’t be because she didn’t get enough matches in Arena Mexico. Maximo is booked here, but he’s also on an indy show teaming with Alebrije and Cuije next weekend, so I don’t know what the deal is there still. It’s only now dawned on me that CMLL’s building to Dos/Terrible/Texano getting a trios title shot.

CMLL (SUN) 04/26 Arena Coliseo
1) Bengala & Trueno vs Carrona & Cholo
2) Arkangel de la Muerte, Bronco III, Super Comando vs Angel de Oro, Fabian el Gitano, Sensei
3) Loco Max, Shigeo Okumura, Skandalo vs Flash, Leono, Stuka Jr.
4) Hijo del Fantasma, Sagrado, Valiente vs Felino, Heavy Metal, Mr. Niebla
5) Blue Panther, La Mascara, Volador Jr. vs Averno, Dos Caras Jr., Mephisto

Bengala debuts here; there was an interview with him in one of the revista last week. He’s been working on CMLL spot shows the last two years, often teaming with or working against Flecha. This is quite like how Skandalo was worked in (and probably not too far off other people, but here they’re not changing the name.)

That segunda really doesn’t look right – members of teams not with any of their partners. Nothing’s set up in this direction tonight, but peharps things are about to be shuffled around to set up that Flash/Stuka vs Guerreros Tuareg title match? Record’s news article on tonight’s top two doesn’t indicate anything.

IWRG (THU) 04/23 Arena Naucalpan
1) Azoka & Daga vs Chico del Barrio & Comando Negro
2) Bobby Lee Jr., Freelance, Multifacetico vs Arlequin, Bushi, Kushida
3) Negro Navarro, Trauma I, Trauma II vs Black Terry, Cerebro Negro, Dr. Cerebro
4) El Alebrije, Fierza Guerrera, Olimpico vs Hijo del Cien Caras, Mascara Ano 2000, Veneno

I keep forgetting Olimpico’s a tecnico on the indy scene. This is his first match in this building since early 2007.

IWRG (SAT) 04/25 Arena Xochimilco
1) Halcon 2000 vs Avisman
2) Diva Salvaje & Miss Gaviota vs Carta Brava Jr. & Vampiro Metalico
3) Eragon, Freelance, Multifacetico vs Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro
4) Black Terry, Cerebro Negro, Dr. Cerebro vs Negro Navarro, Trauma I, Trauma II
5) El Alebrije, Elvis Porky, Zatura vs Head Hunter I, Hijo del Cien Caras, Mascara Ano 2000 Jr.

Maybe THAT’s the Navarros/Cerebro Terribles title match?

IWRG (SUN) 04/26 Arena Naucalpan
1) Diva Salvaje & Miss Gaviota vs Bushi & Kushida
2) Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro vs Freelance, Ghost Rider, Multifacetico
3) Trauma I & Trauma II vs Gemelo Fantastico I & Gemelo Fantastico II [relevos suicida]
4) Angelico, Bobby Lee Jr., Elvis Porky vs Hijo del Cien Caras, Máscara Año 2000 Jr., Veneno

Kushida, who also works Thursday’s show, is back here for the first since Feb ’08. Which AJPW guy is he? I can’t remember and we never put it on the wiki.

CMLL (SUN) 04/26 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Astaroth vs Ebola
2) Hierro & Metatron vs Drago & Rafaga
3) Magnum & Neutron vs Mr. Trueno & Satanico
4) Electrico, Tzuki, Ultimo Dragoncito vs Pequeño Violencia, Pequeño Warrior, Pierrothito
5) La Sombra, Mascara Dorada, Mistico vs Black Warrior, Rey Bucanero, Ultimo Guerrero

Minis in the semimain!

  1. The less said about that AAA angle the better. Although I’m sure some teens are out there laughing their asses off. Konnan REALLY needs a psychiartrist.

“NWA MEXICO (SAT) 04/18 Auditirio Municipal de Teolyucan”

Drawing 22 fans if the pictures are true.

The AAA website bragging about a PWI list from 2007 made me laugh so hard. You’ll notice:

    – Ricky Marvin is apparently an AAA wrestler after having worked 5 shows for them in 3 years.
    – Jack Evans/Teddy Hart’s ranking in 2007 relates to AAA even though they didn’t start until April 2008.
    – Dr. Wagner Jr. worked for CMLL in 2007.
    – Rocky Romero didn’t work in AAA until late 2008.
    – Likewise Alex Koslov.
    – Marco Corleone didn’t show up until 2009.

Obviously the fan in charge of running the AAA website also reads your blog so it’d be interesting to get a comment on why it was relevant to post this list.

    But onto actual important things…

I figure the segunda is being done b/c they tore the house down in Puebla. You’ll notice it’s the exact same match they did last Monday (airing right now on TVC). Now I don’t know if I want to watch the Puebla match if it gets uploaded b/c they may just work the exact same match on Tuesday.:/

That certainly looks like a really strong mini’s match. I’m a little nervous though b/c last week’s match looked good too and it was pretty bad. Did you catch it? The first fall ended within 2 minutes of the opening Fantasy/Damian exchange. They were working the mat and either Damian forgot to kick out of a full nelson while on the mat or he didn’t know the idiot ref was counting. It was pretty messed up. Just seeing Dorada/Pequeno Damian working together again at Arena Mexico will be good enough for me.

Main event looks like it could be really fun.

I’m hoping the 3 & 4 spots are accidentally reversed b/c I really want to see that tercera! Dorada has been red hot lately and Stuka Jr. will probably want to one-up him. Weird they don’t have Valiente there instead of Metro to continue the program with Virus.

You know that lineup is probably put together specifically to keep the guys working next Friday off the show, right? Next Friday will be Kids Day so I assume we’ll have a lineup by Wednesday. Gotta figure it’ll have a mini’s match and Mistico in the main event. Could they do the Reyes Del Aire on Kids Day?

Weird looking lineup. We’re on the same page b/c I also thought this was to work in a Flash/Stuka vs Tuereg tag title match. But aside from Stuka bringing the belt to the ring with him, I’m not sure CMLL remembers they are the champs.

Bengala… hmmm… maybe I wasn’t paying attention but I don’t remember his name in a lot of results. Maybe once or twice on those CMLL-PRI shows (which are starting up again according to the new SL lineups). There was a rumor over on RFC’s board that Hijo Del Trueno (from Monterrey) was coming to CMLL under a new identity. Could this be him? It’d be a clever inside joke to have him team with the other Trueno in his debut.

    Minis in the semimain!”

Those top two would make for one AWESOME hour of television.

    The problem?

Alfredo told me there is no more Guadalajara TV. Well there is but it isn’t the local shows, it’s just an edited version of the Saturday Galavision show.:(

“3) Trauma I & Trauma II vs Gemelo Fantastico I & Gemelo Fantastico II [relevos suicida]”

That’s so sad! One of the Gemelos is going to have to shave his twin’s head!

Kushida is a HUSTLE guy, isn’t he?

  2. Might I also add how strange is it that AAA doesn’t have a TV lineup out for Cuautitlan on Tuesday yet?

Perhaps the website would be better suited trying to get that kind of info instead of reading old PWI magazines.

  3. Romanos/Polvora vs los Angels was very solid in Puebla. All five matches aired due to the shortened main event. I thought the semimain was enjoyable too. Main event was of course a waste to air now. I missed most of the opener, so I can’s say how the local tag match worked out.

  4. CMLL rarely promotes from within though and after being on that circuit for so long working in the same position Sombra De Plata held for years, I’m not really sure he is coming in as more than anything but an opening guy. Either that or:

    a) he has family in high places
    b) it’s not that Bengala coming in.

  5. Man, I WANT AAA to steal my videos, since all I’m doing is recording Galavision matches and re-doing English commentary over them. I would take it as a compliment.

(I know this doesn’t make sense but half my hits are from Mexico as it is, so they’re probably turning off the sound and just watching the match.)

  6. I´d like to see Dinamita Jr´s in the CMLL they would do it well if they had the chance to be there, CMLL is doin well with new talent just they need to give more chances. and aaa in the toilet just a laugh
