Negro took the first with a castia, Mistico did one of his own for the second. In the third, Negro Casas pinned Mistico when Mistico’s second (La Mascara) accidentally distracted the ref, and Negro took Mistico’s mask. The crowd booed Mistico. Stop me if any of this sounds familiar. In the usual mask vs hair mic work after the match, Mistico talked about liking boos, which is a sure way to get the crowd to cheer him.
Dos turned on his partners, of course, and rudos took in straight falls. They seemed to reunite Dos and Lizmark. If I was planning long term here, those two be the next challengers to the tag team titles, so let’s thank god I am meaningless. SuperLuchas did an interview with Maximo this week, and it sounds like he hasn’t decided if he’s leaving or not, but he’d be going to the indies and not AAA if he did.
Rosa Negra vs Marcela reads like a brutal match. Maybe not even in match quality, but in destroying the particpants. Marcela got hurt early on – Rosa moved out of the way of a dive and Marcela hit the stage – and SuperLuchas says she spent most of the match crying. Rosa Negra suffered what is believed to be a major elbow injury in the finishing sequence, and she was put on a stretcher after returning to the locker room, and taken to the hospital. Match still sounds like it’s pretty good, so I hold out hope it’s better than Villano V vs Ultimo Guerrero.
Rosa Negra is Jessica Dayna Hernandez, from Mexico City, 17 years a professional wrestler (and no age given.) The PL link has video (of the MVS video on the big screen) of her unmasking. Obviously, she didn’t stick around for the post match publicity pictures, so it seems everyone just took a picture of her while she was on the stretcher. Remind me never to be a luchaddor.
Molotov’s chin connected hard with the ropes in his match, taking him out of it and requiring seven stitches.
Cesar – who’s new blog looks really interesting – says Tuesday drew over 12,000 and Sunday over 10,000, though these are at Fan Appreciation prices.

Palacio Negro & Samuari reached 8 points (4 wins, 1 loss) with their win. Boomerang & Gallo need to win to match, but Malefico yanked Gallo’s mask and covered him for the win, the first for his team in the tournament. That wraps up the tournament:

The bit they did here, and on Wednesday in Acapulco, is Cibernetico snapping on Perro Jr. after one too many accidents. It is about time for them to get a new main event feud and Cibernetico vs Perro sounds like it – they’ve already got it on the cover of Luchas 2000 #466.
Pierroth II and Pierroth Jr., talking about their recent benefit show for Pierroth and plans for future ones mention that Pierroth is in motor and language rehab right now.
Al Filo del Ring talks to the original Mascarita Sagrada, La Parkita and Octagoncito about AAA passing their names on to others. All have no problem with the men using the name since them – they’re just working under orders – but are unhappy with AAA trying to pretend they don’t exist and trying to keep them from using the name.
Super Astro thinks cage matches are crap lucha and should stop. I love Super Astro.
WagnerMania covers Dr. Wagner Jr.’s first AAA TV match, noting that AAA held a moment of applause for Abismo Negro before the main event. Mr. Reyes has tons of pictures of the show, from the upcoming Gladiatores report. AAA’s recap of the show omits the Juvi skit and mentions Fabi’s not happy with Aerostar for kissing her.
There’s a odd licensing wrestling situation in Los Mochis. Usually, when licensing comes up, it’s that the wrestlers haven’t bothered to get themselves licensed. Here, the wrestlers want and need to get licensed, and the commission hasn’t gotten around to issuing licenses. Local wrestlers have been prevented from working shows outside Los Mochis because those commissions won’t let them work unlicensed, but their commission is ignoring requests to hand out licenses.
Box Y Lucha 2918 has Dr. Wagner in AAA. The article headlines include two more AAA departures: Picudo, and Espectro de Ultratumba (one and done!). FWIW, “Mascara Divina” is listed as working a Villalobos card. Maybe he’s left AAA too, but it could always be one of her characters misspelled. There’s also a new episode of their TV show.
Ohtani’s Jacket checked out Atlantis, El Hijo del Santo, Tony Salazar vs El Satanico, El Dandy, Espectro Jr. from the mid-80s, and Mascara Dorada, Metro, Valiente vs Euforia, Nosferatu, Virus from this week. Why won’t CMLL just do the Valiente/Virus feud already?

Truthfully, CMLL has so many guys, they can just run Acapulco on a Fri or Sat with the guys no working ArMex.
@David: It wasn’t added until Monday or Tuesday – it was mentioned then and I think before – and I never got around to adding it to the listing until today.

How many more “traditional” Mexican wrestlers will we see depart AAA because they dislike it’s American-leaning style?
I’m a huge friend of OJ’s blog even if I’m not able to comment on it! Absolutely stunned to see the praise for that trios match from this weekend. Deserves it though. Fine effort from all. The SL Torneo was the match of the week though but I’m not sure that would go over well with you.
I’m gonna have to hunt through old magazines for photos of La Andromeda now to see if she was Rosa Negra.
Interesting to read about CMLL attendance being up even if it’s at lower prices. Did you see the youtube video of the Monday Puebla show? Looked like a nice sized crowd compared to the last time we saw footage from that building. I wonder what could explain it since there were no big matches. Starman is a draw?
Can anyone confirm that CMLL *doesn’t* still run those shows in Acapulco? I was under the impression they still occur but we don’t see results or lineups except for the scrolling main event listed on CMLL TV.
BTW, it was confirmed that Boomerang GDL = Saturno.
@Rob: It’s certainly possible they’re running cards – that hair match is proof someone’s running something in Acapulco – but if all they’re bringing in here is Coliseo Coacalco special, it doesn’t seem like CMLL’s putting any effort into it.
@John G.: How about adjusting styles? The guys leaving AAA(not all but most) leaving because they can’t adjust to change. So they rather quit a decent gig to go back to working small indy shows. They lucky they have jobs. Guys like Aerostar,Laredo Kid,Billy Boy,Zorro,Chessman are not leaving. It’s the small time guys.
Two things of note from tv down here tonight. first, IWRG only ran at an hour and a half due to the three hour raw on tvc deportes.
Second (mostly for rob), I thought the Rey vs Evan Bourne match was good for the amount of time it was given. If you can grab an easy copy, I think its worth checking out.

Rocky Romero: Touring Japan most likely while still doing weekend U.S. indy shots when possible. Also holding down a weekday part-time job at some Walmart.
Killer Clown: Doing whatever it is that he did before he came to Mexico… i.e. nothing.

Konnan: Vince wouldn’t be able to pick him out of a lineup if the other guys were all black. Sued TNA so can’t go there. Most likely would be doing internet interviews all day long talking about how he used to be a great wrestler for a month back in 1996 and how WCW held all the Mexicans down in favor of Americans.
You can even toss Marco Corleone on that list now b/c after leaving CMLL, if the AAA gig ever falls through he’ll be back to the States begging WWE or TNA for a job while hoping to get back in with Hustle which couldn’t have been the best gig if he was willing to ditch it to move down to Mexico.
So you might wanna re-think your not so brilliant comment.
The guys who are leaving the promotion are leaving because of one man who manipulated his way to the top and will eventually either ruin the company or piss off the wrong people and get exiled once again. It’s just a matter of which happens first.
Or his other kidney could fail.
Oh yeah… how is Johnny The Bull doing these days? Would it be fair to say he was lucky to get a gig in AAA before he blew it? I don’t see him being in high demand anywhere else…

I think the Acapulco situation is that CMLL owns the venue, but leases/rents the venue to a local promoter or won’t run at all.
This reminds me of the bigshot promoter who ran the convention center in Acapulco with loaded lineups.
@Alan: Any time I get to see Rey against someone who can work is a treat. I still think he can go as good as he did 10 years ago (minus a lot of the insane flying spots) but just has nobody to do it against.

I can only speak for my bro Jack Evans, but I think you may have forgot he was with ROH, just before moving to AAA. I would not exactly call them a typical weekend indy promotion myself I guess you would?
And as far as working during the week lol…. Jack has never had to work a day in his life unless he choose to do so just for the experience of it.
I would like to let all of you know something about my bro. And I quote Jack here, “I am a wrestling fan that just happens to also wrestle.” I know there has been much happening in AAA. I am not there and can’t speak to what is true and what is hype and conjecture. What I can tell you all is that Jack would be a wrestling fan and a wrestler if he never got paid another dime for it. He loves wrestling.
So, what would Jack Evans be doing if he was not in AAA. Playing video games all day and watching wrestling all night. And if there was an indy show somewhere in bumfuc that had no budget and needed a wrestler to come wrestle for nothing, drive themself there, and do two matches to fill the card the same show, well Jack would be there.
The point is, some people just love wrestling, you could say its in there blood. Jack is one of them!

I said shows “like” and no these guys are working 3 times as many dates putting their bodies on the line in more harm. They stupid because they don’t have to leave. AAA is not firing these guys. Most of these guys think they worth more than they really is.
@USAUSA1: Exactly how are they putting their bodies in more harm by working for promotions that don’t do table spots in every match on the show like AAA? Is Aero Star safer now that the promotion demands he jumps off a high place on every show instead of letting his ring work speak for himself? Is anyone safe when Joe Lider is in the ring?
Once again you aren’t following facts b/c AAA may not be firing guys but they certainly aren’t giving guys bookings. Look at Alebrije. They didn’t fire him but they didn’t book him on any major shows. So he was already working “tiny shows” (aka NWA Mexico style crowds) while still with AAA. It’s like a taxi driver who works on commision and the company wants to let him go. They don’t have to say “you’re fired”, they just have to make sure the dispatcher doesn’t give him any calls that make money until he is forced to leave.

I assume you mean Konnan? AAA was drawing the same crowds before he took over the book and while he was still banned from Mexico. If anything Konnan is the one who thinks he is worth more than he really is. Pena was a genius at making sure ‘AAA’ was the draw, not the main eventers themselves. It was very Vince-ish. Where Konnan will go wrong is thinking HE is a draw. It’s the same thing that happened in 1996 when he left AAA to go to PROMELL/Promo Azteca. Why did they only draw a half house for TV tapings with Konnan, Vampiro and the WCW guys? Because it wasn’t an AAA show so Konnan’s name meant… nada.
I gotta give you credit though. I’m glad we can finally have a discussion about Konnan being booker without your hilarious “he doesn’t have any power in the promotion!” line. You’re about a year or so late but it’s good to finally be on the same page.

He’s fluent in English. Is a US citizen (born in California, lives in Texas). He’s got a decent size body (Luchawiki says 189 lbs which can’t be right now), close to 6″. Seems like a perfect candidate if WWE is looking for someone of Hispanic ethnicity. Only thing is his family legacy won’t mean much to WWE. Is going to be willing to drop the mask if they ask? Does he care if he’s not Sicodelico, Jr.?
