This is a bit complicated, but you and me can get thru it together.

Cage match didn’t really make sense to me before as the first part of a tournament, but someone actually figured how to do it. It’s essentially CMLL’s seeding battle royal, except you’re escaping a cage instead of a ring. The added twist here is the last one in the cage is out of the tournament (which is why we’ve got an odd number.) Billy Boy took the fall, which can’t be a big surprise. They have to be doing it on purpose by now.

Skipping Billy, the first guy out faces the last guy out, the second guy out faces the second to last guy out, and so on. That leaves us with second round match ups of:

1) Teddy Hart vs 12) Jack Evans
2) Nicho vs 11) Joe Lider
3) Alan Stone vs 10) Escoria
4) Crazy Boy vs 9) Extreme Tiger
5) Alex Koslov vs 8) Juvi – the surprise, as people wiser than me called, though not yet in D-Mex
6) Laredo Kid vs 7) Super Fly

One can only assume we missed some long team up and horrible break up between Alan Stone and Escoria on AAA Jakked, because every other match up just happens to be between partners – past, present or future.

The Monterrey listing had a four way match for the cruiserweight title, and an article talking about tonight (Sunday’s) matches there gave me the impression this would be yet another HF2 vs HX187 battle, but reading it in tandem with the show report makes it clear that they’ll be two singles matches. The other first round matches will theortically take place when AAA gets back from the US tour.

There were other matches on this taping, too:

– After winning the opener, Aerostar revealed the Apache he wanted to ask out was – Fabi. (Poor Mari!) Billy then showed up to kill both of them. Love is rough.

Abismo Negro is MIA. Again. Pimpi took his place, and the Vipers dominated on the way to a win, Gato taking the pin. The Vipers must’ve been so thrilled that AAA finally has enough faith in Abismo showing up that the Vipers can return to feud with him, and then Abismo no-shows. Dunno the circumstances of it, but it would seem very defensable for AAA to cut the cord with Abismo at this point.

No Latin Lover. Marco took his place and his team won by DQ, when Copetes joined the Legion. I almost forgot Copetes was a tecnico. Though he’s not much of a good rudo referee if the rudos still lost.

– Zorro lost clean to Charly.

Next taping is today in Monterrey, and I’d bet LMDLL has results up soon after the show.

  1. I found it strange that they would only announce Latin Lover to be on the card the day before. This must be another case of AAA’s disorganization.

  2. @Daniel: It’s not. The poster had been out for weeks in Madero for local publicity. I know you’re in love with him but Latin no-showed. Simple as that.

  3. Prediction: Billy Boy vs. Aerostar at Triplemania in an apuesta match, hair vs. mask.

  4. @Rob: The poster may have advertized it locally but the AAA site kept Parka’s partner as a surprise, and then the day before they hinted Latin Lover without directly saying it was him. They probably never told Latin that he was booked, just like how they didn’t tell him about the 2007 Pena show, and just like how they didn’t tell Ricky Marvin about a show he was supposed to be on back in September 2007.

  5. @Daniel: Daniel… the website means absolutely nothing. AAA still lives on local advertising for their shows or there wouldn’t be posters up at all.

You can deny it all you want but the most likely scenario here is Latin Lover is mad that Corleone got brought it since they play the same role except Corleone is the better worker and fresher face. It’s the same issue he had with Intocable and Elegido in the past.

  6. @Rob: Now you’re making assumptions without actually knowing anything.

Yeah Corleone is a favorite among the ladies but his gimmic is nothing like Latin Lover’s gimmic. Latin Lover’s problem with Elegido is that he was brought in to be Latin’s replacement. Elegido admit that himself, and you know full well that the Elegido character is Latin Lover with a mask. Intocable became an arrogant dick and that’s why Latin didn’t like him.

Since we’re dealing with facts it is a fact that in the past AAA has messed up bookings because of disorganization. The posters may have been up in Cuidad Madero, and unless Latin Lover lives there he’s not going to see the posters.

And you saying that Corleone is a better worker is just you being a Latin Lover hater. You can’t deny Latin Lover’s in-ring athletic ability and his ability to work a match with good psychology and story telling ability.

  7. @Daniel: “Now you’re making assumptions without actually knowing anything.”

    Daniel said:

“I found it strange that they would only announce Latin Lover to be on the card the day before. This must be another case of AAA’s disorganization.”

    Pot.

    Kettle.

    Black.

    As usual with you.

“Intocable became an arrogant dick and that’s why Latin didn’t like him.”

You spoke with Latin Lover and he told you this, right? Surely you’re not just making an assumption…

“The posters may have been up in Cuidad Madero, and unless Latin Lover lives there he’s not going to see the posters.”

… None of the wrestlers who worked the Madero show live in Madero. How did they all know to be there? I’ll give you a hint… AAA booked them and they showed up.

“And you saying that Corleone is a better worker is just you being a Latin Lover hater.”

Not true at all. I’ve been on your side for a long time which I’m sure you’ll forgot in a second now b/c I’m currently speaking badly about your dreamboat. The fact is Corleone IS a better worker than Latin Lover at the moment.

Latin Lover used to be a mainstream star and the good looking tecnico to draw ladies. Now he’s no longer a mainstream star and AAA intends to turn Corleone into one. He’s also aging rapidly while Corleone is in his prime.

AAA upgraded. They got a new Latin Lover who is ten years younger, more athletic and capable of putting on a better show plus appeal to their U.S. audience should they decide to run more shows outside Mexico.

Don’t be surprised if this is the last time you see Latin Lover in a wrestling ring, Daniel.

  8. @Rob: If you think this is the last we’ve seen of Latin Lover then you are very dillusional.

Reality Check Rob: Latin Lover IS MAIN STREAM!!! He’s main stream both in and out of wrestling.

You say Latin Lover is aging rapidly. That’s another lie. He looks great for a guy who’s 41. He looks a lot better than a lot of fucks who are in their 20’s.

I’m not bashing Corleone because I have nothing bad to say about him, but he’s not the new Latin Lover just like how he’s not the new Cibernetico or the new Mistico. He’s Marco Corleone.

Rob, you are clearly a hater, but you can mark my words that Latin Lover was in AAA before all this bullshit started and he’ll still be there long after it blows over, so no we have not seen him for the last time.

  9. @Daniel: Can you name me a TV show Latin Lover has been on since 2005? Or any mainstream publicity he has received since then?

  10. Someone likes to argue a lot when he doesnt know enough and just support dancers lol someone has a crush with the american eagle lol

  11. the deal of the new lucha is dancers lol and bults who hardly can do good feuds, konnan the cuban boss rules with dancers hahaha

  12. No offense, I’m just trying to help you out here but:

    a) There is no such word in English as “bult”. I know what you mean but it doesn’t make sense when you say it every single time you make a comment.

    b) Why are you constantly ‘lol’ing at your own comments?

  13. @Rob: WOW You really are ignorant if you’re asking what TV show he’s been on since 2005. He was the host of Muevete, he was on an International version of Dancing with the stars, and countless talk shows and new reports. That’s just to name a few.

  14. Mesias vs. Chessman cage match was a great match. Mesias is my favorite wrestler at the moment. Seeing Chessman look dead in the ring was priceless.

They showed Rivera with a bald head and the hair match is next week.

  15. @Rob: thanks i need the help and i laugh cos all this comments are funny how some get to personal them so thats it

  16. @Daniel: I don’t follow Latin Lover as closely as you do but wasn’t that Dancing with the Stars show many years ago? Like… uh… 2005?

“and countless talk shows and new reports.”

Name them. Link me to them.

You might be caught in the same time warp the Requiem Para El Toreo fans are…

  17. @Rob: Bailando por un Sueno was in 2005, but the International version was last year.

I’ll link you some of those news reports as soon as you link me this Masera poster that advertised Latin Lover.

  18. @Daniel: http://img12.imageshack.us/img12/5445/img051tct.jpg

Can’t find the thread now but over on SML (SatanicoManson board) the guy who put the card up said the promotor told him Latin Lover was the surprise. Combine that with AAA’s site announcing him… and well… it ain’t 100% but you’d be in tough trying to convince me Latin wasn’t booked and the promotor just ‘happened’ to mention his name and the AAA website just ‘happened’ to list his name instead of listing a luchador sorpresa or any other random guy.

  19. BTW, is this the right time to mention the only reason Latin Lover got on those shows a few years back was b/c he signed a deal with Televisa apart from his deal with AAA so they felt obligate to promote him and they never renewed the deal so he’s S.O.L. and really needs to start working more regularly with AAA (or CMLL) if he wants to keep what’s left of his stardom?

Nah, probably not the right time to mention that. My bad.

  20. Is the Juvi story in Twitter the ‘disgusting’ thing that Lizzy Valentine mentioned as the reason she quit?

Not that its disgusting because it is, but within wrestling, crapping in someone’s bag seems to be mentioned all the time.

  21. Either way I guess we know the first question Tony has to ask next time.

“Hey Konnan, great to have you on the show. I just want to open up with two quick questions. How’s your health and did you shit you in Juventud’s bag?”

    *click*

  22. Can you believe Juvy though of all people? He has a history himself.

It would not surprise me if Konnan did it as some kind of revenge/welcome back prank or was just being a complete asshole.

This happens all of time in wrestling though. It’s not funny but the wrestling business is weird.

He can always go to CMLL but am pretty sure the guys there would want more wink wink

  23. Here’s the thing…

What exactly is the ‘disgusting’ part of this whole shitty situation?

    1) The poop
    2) the beatdown and resulting broken nose
    or
    3) the fact that it could have been anyone in AAA.

There’s a bunch of guys in AAA who could have done it, not just Konnan or Jack. There’s Waltman, etc. In fact, I see this as a new ‘whodunit’ storyline in AAA.

  24. @Rob: Yes. He is always a judge on Televisa’s prime time shows that have judges. He did “Bailando” as a judge and special guest dancer. He was also a judge at times on that show Perro Jr. was on, and I forget the name. Lover is always getting mainstream pub, but at this point, none of it seems to translate into box office.

  25. @Alfredo: 4) The fact that the guy who helps run the promotion is accused of pulling the prank.

I mean even Vince got people to do his dirty work for him.

  26. To change the subject a little bit, I thought The Vipers were booked for the Perros show? And any mention of Wagner?

  27. @KrisZ: Juventud mentioned Dorian Roldan and Marisela Pena in that Récord article – if it is a storyline, this wouldn’t make sense since Konnan is the storyline president and not one of the Roldans.

  28. @Rob: Thanks Rob you just proved to me how full of shit you are. You said that Latin was advertised on the poster and he’s clearly NOT!!!, and now you’re telling me that “the guy who put the card up said the promotor told him Latin Lover was the surprise.” This ia all hearsay.

And by the way AAA’s site HINTED that Latin was the surprise but they never said it directly. I call this legalized false advertising, you call it a no-show.

Ok, so I guesse you talked to the Televisa executives to know that the only reason why the had Latin on their shows was because they felt obligated. You know this because you talked to them right?? I guesse this is a good time for me to let YOU in on something…In television, producers will only put on screen what they want, and there are no obligations. If ratings are low shows are cancelled, if somebody can’t deliver they get replaced.

    YOU LOSE ROB!!

  29. @Daniel: Man… putting Latin Lover’s name in the lineup was quite the hint. I honestly don’t know how I was able to figure out he was booked. Just call me Sherlock Holmes II.

“if somebody can’t deliver they get replaced.”

Which is what has happened to Latin Lover in AAA.:)

The time is coming where you won’t be able to watch your boytoy in the ring any more, Daniel. You’ll have to do like all his other hardcore fans do and pay money to hang out with him in the champagne room.

    @KrisZ: Naturally.

  30. haha that was fun about kuvi bag full of shit, good job Konnan ur doin a great job, same like with ur new wrestlers just dr.shit and shit corleone

  31. @Rob: He wasnt’ replaced because he’s still around “sherlock.”

You keep implying that I have a homosexual attraction towards him. I’m not gay, I like him because he’s a great wrestler/performer. Why do you assume that I have the hots for him? Is it because you have the hots for him so you assume that I do too?

  32. @Ringo:

Yeah but this is just way too soon after a surprise debut for that to happen. If it’s a shoot that’s fine but with the way that AAA books these days and the inspiration of Konnan being Vince Russo & Paul Heyman, you can’t put anything past them.
