02/08: AULL, lots of IWRG, GDL, lineups

AULL (SAT) 01/31 Arena Lopez Mateos [Al Filo del Ring]
1) Mr. Flama b Principe Torbelino
2) Chucho el Roto & Iron Master b Misterio & Trauma II
3) Angel o Demonio, Cerebro Maligno, Herejia b King Star Tiger, Rocky Santana, Yakuza
4) Black Terry, Negro Navarro, Sadico b Robin Maravilla, Super Calo, Súper Nova
5) Juventud Guerrera, LA Park, Super Crazy b Damián 666, el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Mr. Águila

Notable because there appears to be a pin! That’s because the first two falls were DQ finishes, yet weapons were okay in the third fall.

IWRG (THU) 02/05 Arena Naucalpan [Al Filo del Ring]
1) Halcon 2000 b Keshin Black
2) Galactik & Imperio Azteca b Avisman & Shuriken
3) Eragon, Trauma I, Trauma II b Carta Brava, Fantasma de la Ópera, Nemesis IWRG
4) Oficial 911, Oficial 911, Oficial AK47 b Multifacético, Pendulo, Zatura
5) El Hijo del Solitario, Monarca Jr., Scorpio Jr. b Emilio Charles Jr., Hijo del Cien Caras, Veneno

Monarca and Scorpio are also part of the Corporation – it’s going to be a group of second generation wrestlers. Which ones? I dunno, becuase you’d think 2 of the other side would be in it as well. It might happen – Cien turned on Veneno when he thought Veneno hit him (it was actually Scorpio) and the rudo side fell apart for the loss.

Perros del Mal (FRI) 02/06 Coliseo Olimpico Universidad de Guadalajara, Guadalajara, Jalisco [WagnerMania]
3) Dr. Wagner Jr., Intocable, Rayman DQ Cibernetico, el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, LA Park

That’s more like it. Damian and Aguila ran in for the DQ, and then Super Crazy ran in to join the Perros. Haven’t seen who lost their mask/hair yet.

IWRG (SAT) 02/07 Arena Xochimilco [Black Terry Jr. in the comments]
1) Eragon & Galactik b Avisman & King Drako
2) La Parkita, Mascarita de Oro, Octagoncito b Espectrito I, Espectrito II, Pequeno Boricua
3) Freelance, Multifacético, Zatura b Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro
4) Zumbido b Fuerza Guerrera
5) El Hijo del Solitario, Fantasma Jr., Rayo de Jalisco Jr. b Head Hunter I, Head Hunter II, Tetsuya

Lots of great photos here

CMLL (SUN) 02/08 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [MT, MT]
4) Mascara Dorada & Valiente b Euforia & Nosferatu
5) Héctor Garza, Mictlán, Shocker b Ephesto, Terrible, Texano Jr.

Shocker used the ropes a bit to help pin Terrible. This sets up a singles match next week, after Terrible got away with some fouls in past weeks.

SuperLuchas 301 has WWE stuff on the cover. Among the contents inside, there’s an interview with Gran Cochisse and Satanico about their role as trainers here. Gran Cochisse is doing the day to day stuff, and Satanico is in charge of polishing the advanced guys. Whoever was doing the training here – they’re specifically not mentioned – is criticized by Cochisse and even stronger by Satanico, who says they were only teaching high spots and not making complete wrestlers, and more into self promoting than communicating with the CMLL office or building the next generation of CMLL wrestlers. (Both say there haven’t been any good wrestlers from GDL since Sagrado, which makes me wonder why I watched so much Mictlan or why they thought pushing Mascara Dorada was a way to go.) Basically, they’ve brought in a lot of new guys since they’ve come in (October/November) and they’ll continue giving spots to those who earn it, not playing favorites.

Angel de Oro & Angel de Plata are picked as up and coming GDL stars – even though they started out in Lagunera, their father was from here. Palacio Negro and Metal Blanca are two guys coming on strong. Satanico talks about starting up a GDL version of the Infernales with Mr. Trueno & Rey Trueno, and Gran Cochisse mentions that Boomerang (who changed names, and is only 17) is his son.

Mr. Niebla did not make Friday’s match because he’s still in the hospital, or at least was when box Y Lucha went to press. He’s being kept under observation due to head trauma (a grade 1 concussion) and an abdominal injury (concerns about internal bleeding, which turned out to be false) and it’s unclear when he’ll be able to go home, much less return to the ring. He’s also apparently at fault for causing the car accident – he hit a minibus – and there could be legal repercussions from that.

Meanwhile, in an unrelated incident, Ovaciones has a story about two of Metalico’s brothers being gravely hurt in a hit and run. One brother has passed away, the other is still hospitalized.

Ovaciones says Okumura is headed back to NJ from 03/13 to 03/16. I wonder if that’s a typo and they meant February, since that’s the period he’d be in Japan for the show that’s already been announced.

SuperLuchas looks back at the young Missionarios de la Muerte

Hablando de Catch has lots of photos from Santo’s Thursday.

El Universal has an interview with Marco Corleone about his career. (I’ve heard better.)

LuchaWorld has AULL @ the lucha libre expo and CMLL TV 08/18/07. There’s also KrisZ’s news report.

Lineups

CMLL (TUE) 02/10 Arena Mexico
1) Molotov & Rayo Tapatío II vs Carrona & Semental
2) Angel de Oro, Angel de Plata, Astro Boy vs Apocalipsis, Arkangel de la Muerte, Hooligan
3) Dark Angel, Lady Apache, Sahori vs Amapola, Hiroka, Mima Shimoda
4) Mascara Dorada, Metro, Sagrado vs Felino, Heavy Metal, Virus
5) Hijo del Fantasma, Marco Corleone, Shocker vs Lizmark Jr., Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero

Metro’s getting pushed strong right away.

IWRG (THU) 02/12 Arena Naucalpan
1) Eragon & Galactik vs Carta Brava & Shuriken
2) Freelance, Trauma I, Trauma II vs Avisman, Fantasma de la Ópera, Judas el Traidor
3) Multifacético, Pendulo, Zatura vs Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro
4) El Hijo del Solitario, Emilio Charles Jr., Fantasma Jr., Scorpio Jr. vs Head Hunter I, Hijo del Cien Caras, Tetsuya, Veneno

I guess Emilio’s in the group already?

CMLL (FRI) 02/13 Arena Mexico
1) Starman & Tigre Blanco vs Puma King & Tiger Kid
2) Ángel Azteca Jr., Pegasso, Rey Cometa vs Bronco III, Pólvora, Skandalo
3) Bam Bam vs Pequeño Damian 666 [lightning]
4) La Máscara, Shocker, Toscano vs Black Warrior, Dragon Rojo Jr., Sangre Azteca
5) Blue Panther, Misterioso II, Último Guerrero vs Ephesto, Texano Jr., Villano III
6) La Sombra & Volador Jr. vs Heavy Metal & Negro Casas [CMLL TAG]

I think no tag team title change, just an opportunity for the tecnicos to prove themselves in a big match. I’m pretty sure Bam Bam and Mini Damian are capable of a good singles match against each other

indy (FRI) 02/13 Arena Neza
1) Scorpio Jr. & Villano III vs Damián 666 & Villano IV
2) Blue Demon Jr. & El Hijo Del Santo vs Dr. Wagner Jr. & el Hijo del Perro Aguayo

Another sell out, though I don’t know how you make money on it.

UWE (SAT) 02/14 Arena Lopez Mateos
1) Lola Gonzalez & Vicky Carranza vs Martha Villalobos & Pantera Surena
2) Danny Boy vs Romando Garcia [super libre]
3) El Fantasma, Falcon, Super Astro vs Cuchillo, Kahoz, Rambo
4) Mil Mascaras vs Villano III, Dos Caras Sr., Canek, Villano IV, Shu el Guerrero, Mano Negra [cage, hair, mask]

Probably one of the last two.

IWRG (SAT) 02/14 Arena Xochimilco
1) Halcon 2000 vs Avisman
2) La Chola & Rossy Moreno vs Esther Moreno & Flor Metalica
3) Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro vs Dr. Cerebro, Freelance, Multifacético
4) El Hijo del Solitario, Scorpio Jr., Tinieblas Jr. vs Hijo del Cien Caras, Máscara Año 2000, Mascara Ano 2000 Jr.
5) Fuerza Guerrera vs Zumbido [IWRG IC WELTER]

Again, taped for SKY. That’s an odd team in the tercera.

CMLL (SUN) 02/15 Arena Mexico
1) Molotov, Sombra de Plata, Trueno vs Artillero, Ramstein, Súper Comando
2) Mascarita Dorada, Niño de Acero, Shockercito vs Mr. Aguilita, Pequeño Halloween, Pequeño Violencia
3) Black Warrior, Heavy Metal, Negro Casas vs Hijo del Fantasma, La Máscara, Toscano
4) Blue Panther, La Sombra, Volador Jr. vs Atlantis, Mr. Niebla, Rey Bucanero
5) Dos Caras Jr. vs Último Guerrero

Can’t see why it was otherwise. Switch to Arena Mexico seems like a late change, or one that hasn’t been mentioned a lot. It’s a fan appreciation show.

Main event is listed as non-title. Maybe Dos gets his win back but not the title? Can’t think of any other reason to do it that way.

Niebla’s participation is questionable, of course. Interesting that the tag champions are in the semimain and their challengers are in the tercera – a tip off?

There will also be a contest where you can win a date with Marco Corleone, Dark Angel, Princesa Blanca or Sombra.

UWE (SUN) 02/15 Coliseo Tulancingo
1) Rossy Moreno & Vicky Carranza vs Martha Villalobos & Pantera Surena
2) Mano Negra, Super Astro, Ultraman vs Cuchillo, Kahoz, Rambo
3) Mil Mascaras & Super Crazy vs Canek & Dos Caras Sr.

What is Super Crazy doing in that match?

IWRG (SUN) 02/15 Arena Naucalpan
1) Eragon & Goleador vs Judas el Traidor & Nemesis IWRG
2) Freelance, Mascara Magnifica, Pendulo vs Avisman, Capitán Muerte, Dr. Cerebro
3) Trauma I, Trauma II, Zatura vs Arlequin, Fantasma de la Ópera, Tetsuya
4) Fantasma Jr., Scorpio Jr., Zumbido vs Head Hunter I, Head Hunter II, Máscara Año 2000

5 thoughts to “02/08: AULL, lots of IWRG, GDL, lineups”

  1. The Guadalajara article is very interesting. I wonder if CMLL brought in Metalik and were so impressed initially that they gave the Dorada gimmick to him instead of someone else they had it planned for. Then they realized Metalik was a one-trick pony and not a very good one at that so they sent Satanico to fix what was wrong in Guadalajara. It’s no wonder Metal Blanco wasn’t brought in yet b/c if you can believe it – he’s actually a green version of Metalik!

Wasn’t Apolo Dantes doing the training before? I seem to recall an interview where he put over Metalik big time and bragged about how Coliseo GDL produced such a great flyer and now he’s an Arena Mexico wrestler. I gotta search the archives b/c I know such an interview exists.

Funny to hear Boomerang is Cochisse’s kid b/c the report from Friday said Boomerang was AWFUL. I expect him to get pushed big time.:)

“4) Mil Mascaras vs Villano III, Dos Caras Sr., Canek, Villano IV, Shu el Guerrero, Mano Negra [cage, hair, mask]”

Normally I’d go with V-III or Mano Negra but with the March main event announced you would have to think Mano Negra is the guaranteed loser here.

Where on SKY are these IWRG shows airing?

Shitty news about Metalico. I can’t believe he showed up to Arena Mexico with all that going on.

Tuesday’s show looks pretty dull. Good to see Apocalipsis back on TV though.

Friday looks really good once again. CMLL.com lists Stuka Jr. instead of Shocker in the fourth match which improves it a ton. That segunda could be something as well! I really really REALLY hope this is just a title match to build the champs up and nothing more. But with all the title changes lately CMLL sure has me confuzzled on the result. Mission accomplished?

Sunday is actually not fan appreciation – it’s family day. I *think* I recall CMLL saying from now on they’d do the following:

First Tuesday of the month – Fan appreciation day @ Arena Mexico
Second Sunday of the month – Family day @ Arena Mexico

Not sure how the Puebla/GDL deals work.

  2. CMLL.com updated Friday’s lineup and Shocker is officially out of the especial with Stuka Jr. replacing him.
