02/07: Mexico, GDL, Puebla

CMLL (FRI) 02/06 Arena Mexico [Ovaciones, Alan in the comments!]
1) Molotov & Sensei b Artillero & Súper Comando
2) Angel de Oro, Angel de Plata, Metálico b Arkangel de la Muerte, Hooligan, Loco Max
3) Astro Boy b Calígula [lightning]
4) Bam Bam, Mascarita Dorada, Shockercito b Pequeño Violencia, Pequeño Warrior, Pierrothito
5) Terrible, Villano III, Villano V DQ Misterioso II, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero
6) Atlantis, Heavy Metal, Negro Casas b La Sombra, Místico, Volador Jr.

Mr. Niebla did end up missing the main event after Thursday’s car accident. Hope he’s doing well. Heavy Metal replaced him, and the rudos won and challenged for the tag team titles as you’d expect, except I’m not so sure which two it’s supposed to be now (since it clearly was Negro/Niebla last week.)

Villano’s team took the semimain in straight falls. They won the first and were going after UG’s mask in the second when Blue Panther ran in thru the crowd and fouled V5. Brawl continued from there. When it was settled down, both sides seemed to agree on a V3/V5 vs Panther/UG double hair/mask match for 03/20. Yes, they appear to be setting a main event for a big show *7* weeks in advance. Must’ve been an awesome planning session over the holidays.

CMLL (FRI) 02/06 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [ESTO, mt, CaNek-TaPaTiO @ box y lucha]
1) Metal Blanco & Metatron b Mr. Trueno & Rey Trueno
2) Mr. Aguilita, Pequeño Damian 666, Pequeño Halloween b Boomerang, Meteoro, Virgo
3) Ephesto & Mephisto b Mascara Dorada & Stuka Jr.
4) Black Warrior, Dragon Rojo Jr., Sangre Azteca b Máximo, Sagrado, Shocker
5) Medussa L Princesa Blanca, Lady Apache, Amapola, Mima Shimoda, Sahori, Dark Angel, Goddess, Hiroka, Marcela, La Nazi [cage, hair]

Order of escape was Goddess, Mima, Sahoria, La Nazi, Marcela, Hiroka, Dark Angel. This left Lady Apache versus Amapola, Princesa Blanca, and Medussa. Rudas beat Apache for a while. Amapola left, leaving the other two to bumble there way into letting Lady Apache escape. Blanca blocked a Medussa casita and got one of her own for the win. Blanca wins a hair and a title in 8 days.

Warrior got the pin on Shocker in the third fall of the semimain thru a foul.

No results from the Perros show yet, but posts & photos on the box y lucha board say Super Crazy turned on the tecnicos and joined the Perros.

CMLL (SAT) 02/07 Arena Puebla
1) King Jaguar & SWAT vs Karisma & Mr. Rafaga
2) Black Tiger (Puebla) & Tigre Rojo vs Fuerza Chicana & Siki Ozama Jr.
3) Mascarita Dorada vs Shockercito, Bam Bam, Último Dragoncito, Pequeño Olímpico, Pequeño Damian 666, Pierrothito, Pequeño Halloween, Mr. Aguilita, Pequeño Warrior [Mini Reyes de Aire, cibernetico]
4) Euforia, Nosferatu, Virus vs Mascara Dorada, Máximo, Tony Rivera
5) Blue Panther, Hijo del Fantasma, Shocker vs Ephesto, Terrible, Texano Jr.

Outside the minis cibernetico, this is just an ordinary card. That’s atypical for these fan appreciation shows.

CMLL (MON) 02/09 Arena Puebla
1) Toro Bill Jr. & Toro Bill Sr. vs Aguila Guerrera & Karisma
2) Asturiano, Leono, Pegasso vs Ares, Hooligan, Policeman
3) Angel de Oro, Angel de Plata, Fabián el Gitano vs Arkangel de la Muerte, Loco Max, Skandalo
4) La Máscara, Sagrado, Valiente vs Black Warrior, Dragon Rojo Jr., Sangre Azteca
5) Mr. Niebla, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero vs Dos Caras Jr., Héctor Garza, Marco Corleone

This card is about as good, so I don’t know who’s going to go to both of these. (Probably not enough to make a difference.) First time Hooligan’s been here since November.

WagnerMania has video of Wagner vs Lyger from 1996.

Lineups when they show up.

  1. “There are (legal) webfeeds of the Televisa and Cadena3 shows. Look/ask around for them.” Saw this quote over at DVDVR and figured I’d ask in this thread for the Televisa feed. What is it and what time does it come on? Thanks in advance.

  2. I’m not a fan of cmll.com taking this long to update lineups. Put them up at noon! ALWAYS!

Ovaciones says the mini’s had the best match of the night which must be shocking to everyone.:P Can’t wait to see it!

“Must’ve been an awesome planning session over the holidays.”

You know with the way CMLL has been run so far this year I actually think they did a winter planning session! I’m not sure who forced it but at some point the main people in the company must have been told to come up with at least one idea to run with through the spring.

Panico – Dos Leyendas main event.

Salazar – Push Mistico/Sombra/Volador Jr. as a trio.

Colombo – Poder Mexica push + title win.

Feliciano – Blanca turn + push.

Now we wait to see how it all falls apart.:)

Semi-main from Coliseo GDL was said to be the best match of the night. Boomerang was stretched out in his match. The top of the arena was closed off, balcony was 90% full and floor was 70% full according to one report.

Photos of the PdM show appear to have a full house but it looks like a small building.

I’m torn on the Puebla shows. I love the Pequeno Reyes Del Aire rematch since it has better wrestlers involved and we need a better match than the January version but overall I like Monday’s show better from the opener to the semi-main.

On a bitter sidenote – I sent Wagnermania that Lyger vs Wagner match in exchange for Canal52MX uploads which he never did. PFFT.

    New looking Televisa feed!

  3. It’s interesting how CMLL TV starts early when they have a 1:45 show but when they get a 2:00 show they start late.

  4. WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!! NO MINI’S??? That makes me ANGRY! Segunda is airing instead. I guess mini’s and lightning match is for FSE.

  5. @ Rob: I was able to use the Cadena Tres feed last week. I am trying to get the justin.tv feed to work, but the posts on the site are stating the feed is not working at the moment. I’m at work right now so I wanted to record via REal Player and watch when things slow down.

  6. So, why does my Dish Network guide have AAA listed as starting at 2 pm, and so I tune in a few minutes after 1 pm and its on now. WTF? Did they change the time out of the blue? I only missed the opening and D-Mex promo, but I’ll catch that later tonight or tomorrow.

To think yesterday, I noticed LATV listing “Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre” for today as opposed to listing “Mex to the Max” and thought how great it was to have the right info for the first time and then this happens. FUCK YOU DISH NETWORK ON-SCREEN GUIDE!

  7. Whoa, I love this new Televisa feed. You can actually watch in full screen and it looks decent! Someone needs to figure out how to record this.

  8. 1. Metalico is beyond awful. I hope Henrik was watching that sequence.

    2. Announcers mentioned Metalico’s brother is dying.:/

    3. Announcers also said Angel De Plata is returning after 6 months off due to a fractured arm. Do we know anyone who fractured their arm six months ago?

Also, on RFC’s board there are rumors Caifan 69 is retiring. That would be so shitty if true. He finally got his break in CMLL – worked one match at Arena Coliseo and then was scheduled to debut as El Brujo before injuring himself earlier in the week. Then he got hurt again when he returned to action. Shitty breaks.:(

  9. Sorry for some comments slow to show up – wordpress was putting the posts with links in the moderation pile.

  10. So it looks like they are going with ‘Los Angeles Celestiales’ for the name of Angel De Oro y Plata. I like it. What I didn’t like was their debut. Angel De Plata slipped a bunch of times and Angel De Oro has already shown he is capable of way more than he showed. They can only get better though. Unlike their partner who… uhhh… yeah.

  11. Lineups of the week gave away two matches for Tuesday:

Marco Corleone/Hector Garza/Hijo Del Fantasma vs Lizmark Jr./Rey Bucanero/Ultimo Guerrero

Sagrado/Mascara Dorada/METRO IV (SEMI-MAIN??? Now I know he’s the son of someone important) vs Heavy Metal/Felino/Virus

  12. 1. meh, i can cut Metalico some slack because he used to be quite good and worked hard for a couple of years before becoming disinterested, unco-ordinated, musclebound and sloppy. I’ll save my hate for those bums who have always been lazy and crap, and who have paid no dues whatsoever – you know who i speak of :)

    3. Well, I know of a CMLL undercarder who broke his arm then vanished, but that was a lot longer than 6 months ago….

I only caught the replays at the end of the 3rd and his springboard plancha was kinda Explosivo-esque, but as if CMLL would take back a ‘disloyal’ opening match guy then elevate him (unless they were so impressed with his ability to rise from the dead) :)

He’s probably just a young unknown guy

  13. Meteorix.

Might’ve came back for one or two matches, but was never a regular again. Probably nearer to 6 years than 6 months though. :)

It’s not him obviously. The broken arm thing just reminded me of him

  14. Why can’t it be him? That’s an excellent thought. We never saw much of Meteorix but the body types sorta match.

Nice choke slam off the top by Polvora.

  15. Wow, CMLL does actually tape in advance since Mr. Niebla is in this promo for the tag titles.

LMAO Who the hell has their cell phone set to ring like a phone from the 80’s?

  16. @Rob:

I haven’t really had a good look at Angel De Plata yet but he seems a kinda tall lanky guy, whilst from the few times i saw him on Momentos, Meteorix was a bit smaller. He had a nice running somersault plancha too :)

Momentos was decent today, but not including the most spectacular dive CMLL has seen in months kinda confirms again that it’s just a random bunch and not some ‘pick of the bunch’.

I first found that out for certain around 2003 when the site had pics of Nicho nailing Virus with his old insane senton from the top to the floor, yet was nowhere to be seen on Momentos. F*ck knows how he managed that with no mats!

And in what is definitely the first time i’ve said anything like this, and most probably the last, that was a pretty cool dive by the chick in purple :)

  17. Selected Guerrero Inca

2008-02-21 IWRG Arena Naucalpan – Guerrero Inca b Bacteria

2008-02-24 IWRG Arena Naucalpan – Gemelo Fantastico I & Gemelo Fantastico II vs Guerrero Inca & Semental

2008-02-28 indy Arena Olimpico Laguna de Gomez Palacio – Angel de Oro, Sexy Piscis, Stuka I vs Guerrero Inca, Psycho, Sexy Frnacis

    (nothing in this stretch)

2008-10-16 indy Arena Olimpico Laguna de Gomez Palacio – Angel de Oro, Hijo del Fantasma, Sagrado vs Epsnto V, Guerrero Inca, Último Guerrero

2008-10-23 indy Arena Olimpico Laguna de Gomez Palacio – Angel de Oro, Sexy Piscis, Trueno b Dulce Paola, Guerrero Inca, Psycho

2008-12-25 indy Arena Olimpico Laguna de Gomez Palacio – Guerrero Inca b Semental

What we’ve definitely proven is I can’t spell AOL workers names right half the time.

  18. ALSO: The fact you expose gimmicks like Angel De Plata is probably why you won’t be approved as a friend.;)

  19. Wow, main event must get tons of time b/c C3 is starting with the tercera and I know the semi-main was really short.

  20. First fall of the semi-main is over. Watching Hector Garza wrestle with a long-sleeved tight sweatshirt is odd.

  21. Nice comedy spot by Corleone and Heavy Metal in the second fall. Metal kept trying to shoulder block Marco to no avail. Tejano comes in and sets himself up as a springboard for Heavy Metal. Metal stands on top of Corleone and gloats over being taller than him. As he is about to hit a bionic elbow, Corleone dropkicks Metal all the way to the floor.

  22. Missed the main event b/c Toronto was abusing Montreal and it was too fun to pass up. Any opinions?

  23. @Rob: I only caught the C3 main today. I thought it was a solid all around matchup. The submission at the end of the second fall was a little awkward, but other than that, I thought both teams looked good. It will be too bad if this is the only time we get to see this matchup since they stuck Mascara in the previous matchups.

What wound up airing on Televisa? Segunda and the top two? Two bad they cut the minis when they had them running that high on the show. I would say it might have been the match of the night, but I found the main entertaining too. Maybe they wind up airing the minis on Fox Sports next weeks since they used the segunda already and don’t have any women’s matches this week? I didn’t think the lightning match was anything great this week, so hopefully they will cut that instead of chopping the minis match to shreds.

  24. @Alfredo: They did change the time out of the blue. My cable system listed AAA from 5p-7p, but it came on earlier, and my DVR recorded only two hours.

  25. Oops. I came out as Anonymous above this post. I don’t think it was Dish’s fault. Happened to me too.

CMLL is horrendous with these fans being interviewed. Enough!

  26. Today, my tv guide on cable is showing three hours for AAA. I’ll guess Galavision thought they were getting a two hour show. After all, they’ve been getting various program lenghts over the last two months.

  27. I was gonna try watching some of AAA today but they just did the intros to the opener, showed 30 seconds of action and then went to commercial… after just coming back from a 4 minute commercial.

    PASS.

  28. @Oden – I was just figuring it was a different CMLL, because I can’t think of any connection.

  29. @Oden:

    Google turns up this:

“The DDT Tag Team Championship, also known as the CMLL/KO-D tag team titles were brought to Japan in 2000 when NOSAWA & Takashi Sasaki won them in Mexico.”

Either that story is confused with the Nosawa & Masada’s UWA Tag Team Title or Nosawa needs more variation in his fictional backstories. Either way, it’s fabricated to give a connection that does not really exist – these aren’t CMLL titles, this is just the story they’re telling.

  30. Opener on AAA was good today. The 3 hour shows definitely help as there was only one noticable edit and it didn’t feel like you were just watching intros, dives and a finish. Aero Star had one great spot and a nice dive. Argenis also had a neat dive which is shocking. Sucks to see the Hermandad run out to squash the tecnicos post-match since Gato has more talent in his pinky than both those idiots do in their entire bodies. I guess the garbage match at Rey De Reyes will involve Gato and Aero Star.
