11/22: Mexico, AOL, Lineups

CMLL (FRI) 11/21 Arena Mexico [SuperLuchas, ESTO]
1) Artillero & Súper Comando b Angel Azteca & Angel de Oro
2) Arkangel de la Muerte, Loco Max, Skandalo b Flash, Hijo del Faraon, Stuka Jr.
3) Hijo del Fantasma, La Sombra, Máximo vs Euforia, Nosferatu, Sangre Azteca
4) Héctor Garza, Marco Corelone, Mascara Dorada b Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas, Toscano
5) Blue Panther, Dos Caras Jr., Místico b Averno, Mephisto, Terrible

Nothing noteworthy in the main event. It came down to Mistico and Averno. Tecnicos won every match.

Shocker was sitting in the front row for the show, and got involved after the semimain. Niebla remembered he still hated Shocker and went after him during the match. Toscano turned on his teammates, and Shocker hit the ring after the match to convince him to go tecnico. Toscano thought it over, and accepted. In the backstage press conference, they teased a new Guapos group with Hector, Toscano and Shocker.

AAA says Angel and Aerostar are out with injuries. Angel is out at least two weeks (hurt working on telenovela, and they’ll only know how long he’ll be out after those two weeks) and Aerostar is in a neckbrace with a return TBD.

SoloLuchas talks to the the Cadena3 announcers and the president of AULL.

La Jornada has an article mildly ripping a AAA spot show in Acapulco.

indy (THU) 11/20 Arena Olimpico Laguna de Gomez Palacio [el siglo de torreon]
1) Sexy Piscis b Moro Jr. [hair]

This appears to be one of those deals where a masked man lost his hair, despite keeping his mask. They’re going to do it again for the mask next Thursday.

Box Y Lucha is still working on a new look, but they’ve posted some articles from the most recent magazine. Lots of interviews:
Arkangel is headed to Japan.
Angel de Oro, mucha lick the Ovacioens one
Toscano, talking about wanting to stay with the Guerreros. Oops.
Hector Garza, who thinks Perro just got scared of being in CMLL without Hector being around to protect him. Highlight of all time is Hector admiting he’s forgetton who’s supposed to be in his Angels group.
Misticio kindly wishes Perro Jr. much luck as a promoter. Mistico also says the toughest part of coming back is trusting himself on dives.
Pirata Morgan, talking about Elegido adn his sons leaving.
Hijo de Pirata Morgan – who is SIXTEEN YEARS OLD. And in his 3rd year wrestling.
Ayako Hamada, explaining her move from AAA to Martha’s promotion (sounds like she wanted to book her own schedule; she’s headed to the US in December for three days as well as training some of her own students in Mexico)

    WHAT??? Me want to see!

So last night’s show clearly shows nobody in CMLL is pushing the panic button and they’re just gonna stick to their complany slogan of being “serious and stable”. They’ll ride out the low attendance for the time being since it’s pretty obvious Toscano as tecnico and Shocker bringing back the Guapos isn’t gonna go bring the people back. Plus if you look at next week’s lineup it’s pretty obvious they aren’t even trying to book shows to get people interested. They’re just trying to finish out the year, regroup over the winter and February will probably give us a better idea of where CMLL wants to head in 2009.

I’m just angry it appears that the same people are still going to be in power. I discussed this briefly with Steve Sims and we both pretty much agreed that bookers have a certain time period where they succeed but eventually run out of gas and you need to switch them up. CMLL is obviously not a believe in that even though their history perfectly shows this to be true.

Dorada and Tzuki teaming again and this time on TV! YAY!!! I guess we can technically call that a revancha from the unaired Arena Mex segunda two weeks back.

BTW, the news of a Guapos reunion can only mean one horrible thing…

    Superpush coming up for Mictlan.

  2. So-so opener. Very rough in spots by they picked it up at the end of the third fall with lots of nearfalls and creative pinfall break-ups. Loved Sombra’s dive! (Duh) Cool bump by Sangre Azteca to set it up.

  3. BTW, you (and ESTO) say tecs won every match but SuperLuchas says the rudos won the first two which is how you listed it. I guess we’ll find out who was right on FSE next week.

  4. Anything interesting happen another Friday more. CMLL is sleeping, and the angle of Perros doing another promotion underutilised…

… Well, that Guapo’s new organisation can be something.

  5. There was no difference in the main event last week and this week aside from Toscano’s turn. Mistico did his exact same spots (which last were new but this week…) and won the exact same way. No excuse for that booking.

  6. @Tim: It’s unclear. They say he’ll be in the same promotion as Kacao, which I presume means Super Cacao/Nosawa, but AJPW doesn’t quite fit. Wherever Nosawa’s working on his offdays, I guess.

  7. The C3 semi-main tonight perfectly established Cubs’ point about Dorada. He just came across as another Mascara Purpura.

I’m worried that with no confidence to do his crazy spots, Dorada is gonna end up being just that… another Mascara Purpura. Crazy flyer with no motivation who only busts out the psychoness is small doses spread over many months.

Tomorrow’s FSE match and the main at Coliseo tomorrow should be the real test for him.
