CMLL booking change?

Here is the Cesar @ box y lucha post I think everyone was talking about over the weekend, re: Lizmark/Corelone fight and the Lagurenos taking over being as much real as angle. I tend not to believe a lot of what I’m reading on boards right now – the previous unrest plus the jumps gives a lot of space for people to float unsubstantiated rumors – but this does seem pretty solid.

The story goes, Ultimo Guerrero and others (generally from his home region) are angry about the way things have been going in CMLL lately (crowd, people unhappy with how they’re being used or not being used at all) and forced a change in the CMLL booking office. This was mirrored in the big angle on Friday night and also the reason none of that angle made sense given what had been going on previously.

There’s a lot more interesting posts in that thread (at least the first page; not as much as it goes on.) A couple posts down, Cesar mentions the Ultimo Guerrero led faction wants to the company to focus on using CMLL wrestler, rather than putting foreign wrestler and independent guys (Park? Wagner?) on top and not getting anything out of it. I’m sure the jumps were part of this happening; surely people are bitter that they or their friends could’ve had Alex or Shadow’s spot and wouldn’t have left (because they don’t have the safety net of going back to the US.)

Negro Casas is mentioned as one being on the out on the power struggle, which would imply he was one pushing for the international/independent guys. That would also seem to mean to me that he and Rocky are indeed going to be teaming on that NJPW tour, which is totally weird.

Speaking about those jumps: Alex Koslov explains his jump on his mySpace page. Rocky Romero talks about never liking the Grey Shadow gimmick. AAA says DGMex is neither tecnico or rudo. Which means they’re rudo.

CMLL.com updated with subs for Alex Koslov. Valiente is in the semifinal on Tuesday, Volador Jr. is in his place on Friday.

  1. Very classy post by Koslov.

I found it funny that Rocky Romero disliked the Grey Shadow gimmick, but seems to like the D-MEX faction gimmick (granted he was in ROH, which has a hard-on on factions and that might contribute to him liking the idea more). Maybe AAA’s running out of new trendy faction names.:)

Valiente in the semifinals on Tuesday is a good thing!

  2. One thing you didn’t say here:

Negro Casas has argued with Último Guerrero. And Último Guerrero said him something similar to “fuck you”. All because Negro has a lot of power and influence on CMLL, and he uses it to benefit his friends and talents from outside CMLL.

  3. @Pecharroman: And lets not forget his brothers too (Heavy Metal, Felino).

I planned on writing Alex on myspace to tell him good luck in AAA, and Rocky not likikng Grey Shadow, theres a shock. I’m starting to see that the same political game played in WWE and in some cases TNA is the same one being played in EMLl, how long before AAA expose Konnan, Cibernetico and some of the other wrestlers for the people they are and those who want to keep their “spot”?

So then, every 3 weeks we’ve had booking changes?

From what was said, it looks as if the VV taking BP mask instead of Ultimo Guerrero came from the office and was not BP’s himself idea, fast forward a couple of weeks, Ultimo and the rest are saying “told you it was an awful idea and did no good at all for the business” and the change took place. But… Villanos are booked next week and so is LA Park, who in theory wouldn’t be in good terms with UG’s group either. So who knows if something really happened or is we are just seeing lots of creative thinking.

  5. Well IMO it’s smart to have the Villanos/Parka getting booked next week. It shows they want what’s best for the promotion and not just to kick out one group that had power and only booked for their buddies only to be replaced by a new group that will only book for their buddies. The last thing you want is the WCW syndrome where you had Vince Russo in charge pushing his buddies, getting kicked out, replacing him was Eric Bishoff who just pushed his buddies. The idea should be to have people in charge who can distribute the pushes equally.

Something tells me we haven’t heard the last from Negro as this guy is a master politician and he’s always got the Santo card up his sleeve which he will bust out when cornered.

  6. Degeneration Mex not being technico or Rudo means they’re just another boring bullshit faction that’s taking up space and it’s another attempt to bring back 1998, a la Vince Russo.

Rocky Romero didn’t like Gray Shadow but I’m sure he’ll love being X-Pac’s sheep a lot better. Fucking losers.

  7. @Rob: But LA Park and Villano III (and even IV) have not been around at all, it would seem that they got back because of the power play, which doesn’t fit with the story… unless Ephesto beat them all by himself while Ultimo and Panther try to pick up some of the edecanes.

  8. I know it means nothing, but Rey came out with a hood that was half Rey/Parka on Raw and gave it to a kid. It would be great if Rey brought “The Chairman” into WWE to offset that attacks from Kane and Henry.

  9. @Tim: Do you think Degeneration-Mex is a good idea? Do you think Romero and Koslov looked “cool” immitating the crotch chop, or did you see how pathetic they looked? Do you really want to see annoying X-Pac take up TV time?

  10. I’d rather see X Pac, Rocky Romero and Alex Kozlov more than Joe Lider, Crazy Boy, Extreme Tiger and whatever stupid guy comes out of that scene. Of course I’d rather see more Estrellita or Sexy star but that’s besides the point. Like C said, X pac was alright in his last run and Kozlov isn’t bad.

  11. The problem is that Lider and Tiger apparently are not going anywhere… yet. The way I see it, it’s Xpac, Koslov and the rest or Rayo, Soli, Anibal, Ultraman… et al. Oh wait, they should pick Demon up so he can have MOTYs with Romero!

  12. @xuisaw: Yea, the problem with adding new guys is they’re not really necessarily replacing people who aren’t good, they’re just going to end up bumping everyone else down a spot on the card and bump one match off – less women (especially if they’re not in the Apache stuff), less minis, less Billy Boy/Gato Eveready parties.

This is nothing new, plenty of people are pushed off already – anyone see the Night Queens or the new Barrio Boys lately? – but adding more people isn’t going to help.

AAA needs more TV time to use everyone they want to use on TV. If the ratings are so good for Televisa, I’m surprised they haven’t just found away to give AAA another hour or two on a second day to get more of it. Maybe that’ll be the finish to the Konnan/Roldan match, a draw, split ownership, and LLL TV is back.

  13. I hope they keep Crazy Boy, to be honest. He’s just fine and would be even better if Lider, etc. were gone so he didn’t have to focus on the ‘hardcore’ stuff so often.

Is there anything preventing one of the networks that air CMLL (besides Televisa, obviously) or IWRG stuff from giving AAA an hour or so?

  14. @C: Televisa has exclusive rights. AAA got in trouble when they tried to get around it by creating an LLL show (or it just got dropped super quick.)
