09/13: Mexico, lineup

CMLL (FRI) 09/12 Arena Mexico [ovaciones, la afficon, ESTO, reforma]
1) Puma King & Tiger Kid b Ángel Azteca Jr. & Astro Boy
2) Hiroka, Mima Shimoda, Princesa Sujei b Goddess, India Sioux, Princesa Blanca
3) Máximo, Metalik, Mictlán b Dragon Rojo Jr., Ephesto, Misterioso II
4) Hijo del Fantasma, La Máscara, Marco Corelone b Lizmark Jr., Mr. Niebla, Olímpico
5) Blue Panther, Dos Caras Jr., Dr. Wagner Jr. b Atlantis, Negro Casas, Último Guerrero

Panther’s team won in straight falls (UG going down to the armbar in the 2nd), but then Panther got jumped and destroyed by Villano IV and Villano V post match. According to ESTO, a fan hit the ring and attacked the Villanos before security got to him, and Dr. Wagner was confronting any fan who was booing him.

Marco beat Lizmark with a roll up to get revenge for last week. CMLL.com teases Dragon Rojo joining the tecnicos. In the movie, Dragon Rojo Jr. is a tecnico. CMLL also pushes a Sujei/Goddess feud. You know, if the anniversary show was around Halloween (not the wrestler), they’d have lots of feuds ready for it.

Televisa’s ad in Ovaciones says CMLL is on from 3:00 to 4:50.

the next NWA Mexico show has been pushed back a week, to October 4th.

Ticker buyers are upset in Colima that Mistico didn’t wrestle as scheduled, only appearing for 30 seconds and leaving. My first instinct is to say, if they were such a fan of Mistico, shouldn’t they know he’s been hurt for weeks – but apparently the promoter of the show went on TV 3 days before hand and assured the public that Mistico would wrestle. That’s not the way to go.

If you’re in the area, there’s a Guerra de Titantes show in Chile tommorow.

Dos y Tres has Mesias on the cover (again.)

CMLL (TUE) 09/16 Arena Mexico
1) Rayo Tapatío I & Rayo Tapatío II vs Artillero & Súper Comando
2) Goddess, Lady Apache, Sahori vs Hiroka, Mima Shimoda, Princesa Sujei
3) Mascarita Dorada vs Bam Bam, Celestial, Pequeno Ninja, Pequeño Warrior, Pequeño Violencia, Pequeño Halloween, Fantasy, Sombrita, Electrico [MEX LIGHT]
4) Alex Koslov, La Máscara, Sagrado vs Black Warrior, Misterioso II, Rey Bucanero
5) Dos Caras Jr., Dr. Wagner Jr., Volador Jr. vs Averno, Mephisto, Terrible

So they brought back the Cosmico gimmick so he could work both shows? And they solve the problem of not having enough guys by just making this be 2 men short? Awesome. My hunch is Bam Bam is moving on.

CMLL (FRI) 09/19 Arena Mexico
1) Alex Koslov, La Sombra, Maximo vs Damián 666, Mr. Águila, Texano Jr.
2) Hijo del Fantasma, La Máscara, Volador Jr. vs Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto
3) Dos Caras Jr., Hector Garza, Marco Corelone vs Heavy Metal, Lizmark Jr., Mr. Niebla
4) LA Park vs Dr. Wagner Jr.
5) Atlantis, Negro Casas, Último Guerrero vs Alex Shelley, Chris Sabin, Sonjay Dutt [CMLL TRIOS]
6) Blue Panther vs Villano V [mask]

09/14 AAA TV Lineup (Verano de Escandlo)

7) Cibernetico vs Chessman [AAA HEAVY]

2008 AAA TV Taping Lineup
Projected Air Date (#854, #855)
Mexico: 09/21, 09/28
US: 10/11, 10/18

This is generally what has been assumed and exactly what was on the poster, but it’s nice to get confirmation. I doubt they’ll ever post results from last Sunday.

Both Solo Luchas and AAA’s site have the card, except they have slightly different cards. AAA’s website has the Vampiro/Mesias match last (which makes sense, so they don’t have to kill time putting up and taking down the cage.) SoloLucha list Super Fly’s spot as a mystery wrestler spot in AAA’s lineup, which makes sense based on the Electroshock/Super Fly feuding. AAA’s lineup leaves off Pirata Morgan from the Guapos team, but that again makes sense given the stuff with Elegido.

Mascarita Sagrada, Mini Histeria and Mini Chessman are seconds for the minis match, Fabi Apache & La Diabolica are the seconds for the mixed tag.

TV wise, we’re again headed to a show with only 2 matches and 2 hours of time killing. JOY. Couldn’t they have at least paid whever to bring back Rossy for one show and have her lose to Fabi here to add one more match? Doesn’t appear this one will be on PPV (but CMLL’s Anniversary apparently will…)

09/12: CMLL press conference notes

CMLL had a press conference yesterday. Highlights:

– Lots of talk about the mask match next week, of course. Blue Panther is quoted as saying Mistico’s brought in to help the box office, which means Blue Panther is no dummy. Villano V would’ve preferred to have, say, Villano III or Villano IV in his corner rather than Perro Jr.

Panther and V5 actually would prefer their match to be a single fall, but CMLL said no. Atlantis can’t pick a winner.

– The story they’re going with on the changed singles match is X-Pac didn’t have a proper work visa and they weren’t sure it would be resolved before the anniversary show, so they decided to play it safe and pull the match. Which doesn’t actually explain why Rey Bucanero got pulled too, or why X-Pac was put on the show without checking out the paperwork (or when CMLL became sticklers for work visa.)

They didn’t have Park or Wagner there to hype their match.

– Heavy Metal announced Felino as officially a member of Pesta Negra. Negro Casas and Mr. Niebla has no idea Metal was going to do this, but were okay with it. Niebla told Felino to be “heinous and smelly.”

Negro Casas challenged Hector Garza to defend the tag belts against Pesta Negra or for the two to vacate the titles if Mistico’s not going to be back soon and allow CMLL to run a tournament.

SuperLuchas has a great picture. skap_fett @ el Martinete has more photos.

There’s a show tonight. No one’s paying attention much to it.

Probably not mentioned at the press conference: according to La Oreja, quoting the Metro paper says Mistico’s 14 year old brother in law was arrested for being part of a kidnapping/ransom. The kid is Mistico’s sister’s husband’s brother, which doesn’t sound like a close relative.

Wagnermania says Abismo Negro is back out of AAA again, and Black Abyss is now working as (the new) Abismo Negro. I think everyone saw that one coming.

Toscano, even before teaming up with Juvi and Intocable as the Sexicools, is talking about how much he’d rather be back in CMLL.

LuchandoLibre writes about an indy show in Spain this week that includes LA Park.

indy (SUN) 09/14 La Cancion, Tultitlan [reforma via Jazzo]
1) Lizzy Valentine & Medussa vs Marcela & Sahori
2) Ogun & Super Pinocho vs Black Terry & Rambo
3) Solar I, Super Calo, Súper Nova vs el Signo, Negro Navarro, Zumbido
4) Dr. Wagner Jr., el Hijo Del Anibal, Juventud Guerrera vs Head Hunter I, Hijo del Cien Caras, Mascara Ano 2000 Jr.

The promoter of this show is talking about running Palacio del Deportes in December.

The Gladiatores has interviews with Blue Demon Jr. and Panchito Villalobos.

Dragon Rojo Jr. appeared on TV Azteca’s La Academia.

Ohtani’s Jacket writes about 1992 CMLL.

LuchaWorld has one two IWRG TV shows, and one GDL show from ’06, as well as KrisZ‘s lucha news update.

AAA #847 (08/23)

aired in the US 08/23, taped 07/25

This was the worst AAA TV. I watched it about 18 days ago, and it still resonates as being awful

– the minis tournament is worthless
– they really needed to actually have an Moreno turn (and a Mari turn) rather than just announce this is the way things are. And La Hechicera really should’ve gone with Martha for all our sakes.
– Lider/Nicho vs Jack/Teddy was predictable awful. My tolerance for AAA has increased over the years, but the last four or five minutes of this was horrible
– not doing chain matches every month doesn’t mean they still won’t be boring when they do the same match every time. Two whole attempts at winning the match
– The Chessman/Cibernetico stuff is horrible done and making both guys look like goofballs. I had to put up with a tag team tournament that went for months, never made any sense, never planned to make any sense, and now these belts are completely pointless.
– A time limit draw at 18:33. Uh huh.

09/11: notes

Rey Bucanero says he found out he was off the Anniversary show by the media calling him up and asking him why he’s off the show. Yay, CMLL ineptitude. (Luchando Libre goes on this point.) Rey’s only briefly quoted but sounds completely confused by this.

Ovaciones has an interview/bio of Villano V, Arturo Rivera’s column (Charly Manson will be a Verano) and the updated anniversary card.

CMLL (SUN) 09/07 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [cmll]
1) Azazel & Frayle de la Muerte b Impostor & Thunder Boy
2) Güero Loco & Rafaga b Idolo & Oro II
3) Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto b Casanova, Máximo, Rayman [torneo, sf]
4) Gallo, Hijo del Fantasma, Stuka Jr. b Angel Blanco Jr., Infierno, Toscano [torneo, sf]
5) Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto b Gallo, Hijo del Fantasma, Stuka Jr. [torneo, final]
6) Dr. Wagner Jr. b Mr. Niebla

Ref bump, Niebla fouled Wagner, tried to get the ref to count, and get cradled by Wagner for the pin.

09/13-14 Lucha Times

and we’re back. Chart

AAA-US: Listed for three hours, which is how I believe it aired in Mexico. Chessman/Ricky vs Jack/Teddy is the most interesting match, but they’ve also got another minis torneo match and the Consgrados returning in the opener. Main event is Cibernetico, Gronda II and Parka versus Electro, Kenzo and Zorro in what is sure to be a catch-as-can classic.

52MX: If I’m paying attention, the Mexico segunda aired on the main show last week, so I guess they grab the tercera instead. That means this show gets feuds that are basically over (Micltan/Dragon) and feuds that are going nowhere any time soon (Panther/UG)

FOX: Women’s title match for sure, and Dragon Rojo with the Guerreros vs Shadow/Sagrado/Mascara

——-

CMLL: Televisa doesn’t have their listings on their page; TV Guide says this is a 1:45 slot, so top 3

AAA-MEX: and this is to be a 3 hour slot, so whatever happened at the Hidalgo show happens here.

CTres: Mexican Lightweight Tournament, part 1, plus Lizmark/Corelone.
