CMLL’s promoter came one vote short last year. Konnan was 4 short, Villano III was 7, Karloff Lagarde was 9.
Others still on the ballot who wrestled in Mexico: Owen Hart, Chris Jericho, Jerry Lothario, Sabu, and there’s a remove election involving Chris Benoit. Winners are announced by mid August.
It’s not necessarily who I’d pick, but I suspect both Alonso and Konnan get in this year. The timing of the election is unfortunate – Panther would’ve got a bump if they voted on these things right after he won a mask in the main event of the 74th anniversary show, and he may end up doing the same on the 75th. But maybe it’s better not to be caught up in the moment.
Rey Jr. is a no-brainer for me. Panther is right up there. Morales would be next in line from that list of folks.
Bottom of my list would be Paco, Garza and Vamp.
Well if Panther is up there, so should Atlantis. I don’t think either will go in though. Not this year at least.
i dont think Rey will get in, at least not yet. Jericho will be in before him, and since Rey is listed in the US group, he may not ever get in as he needs more votes, but it is Meltzer’s HOF and he’s so biased and he rigs these “elections” and he really doesnt know much about wrestling. he’s an insider and that’s it. he’s put MMA fighters in the wrestling hall of fame. some of his “5 star matches” are no where near the caliber of some matches he’s dismissed as no good. the system he uses to vote is horrible too.
