El Tiempo wrestles about lucha libre in Bogota, Colombia. The promotion was shut down four four years when their previous Coliseo shut down, but started running again five months ago and claim an average of 800 people per Saturday evening show. There’s an attached school, where students have to pay 20,000 pesos ($11.13US) per month to train.

wow, this Wagner vs. Aguayo has the same heat that Wagner / Mistico from last year. incredible. This Wagner driver was sick !!!! I’m would have to choose Wagner for the win, to book a huge rematch from last year, but Perro / Mistico will be very interesting because this will be the first mano a mano between the two this year. And seriously, CMLL crowd are just awesome this year, and this is not limited at Arena Mex, I just watch a match between Mistico & La Sombra vs. Averno & Mephisto (January 08) and there is no word to describe how fans are into this.

I’m just amazed at how short the match was. After watching the Wagnermania clip, it didn’t feel like we got much more footage than Accion. Well, Accion’s Lucha segment is a little longer until soccer season begins.
Hey Robert, check the channel lineup for Rogers’ Latino package. I know they used to have Azteca 13 straight from Mexico City. If it’s true that IWRG is going to Azteca 13, it means you should be able to get it.
Forget to mention, IWRG on Azteca national would probably mean that Televisa won’t televise matches of anyone appearing on Azteca. At least that was the rule a decade ago. And the same assholes are still in charge.
It’s 2008 CMLL and Wagner/Perro, You expected a longer main event? I would hope not. Especially with Televisa in charge.
What has Televisa to do with the length of the matches? Don’t blame them for CMLL’s crap. SUPERLuchas said the match was awesome, but I bet is one of those things that only works live, I’ve heard that they did like 10 nearfalls, but, how could that work considering the first two falls lasted like 2 and a half minutes, it surely had them doing nearfalls and selling exhaustion right from the start of the third fall, which doesn’t make sense at all.
I got a flyer with the newspaper for DirecTV Mas, but it seems to be for the US market, who knows why they put it on the Mexican paper… it doesn’t include C52Mx… CMLL guys are not Televisa workers so they can not “ban” them if they show up in Azteca, actually, many have done thru the years in Weakest Link and some other shows, even Hijo del Santo has been in Azteca several times and it didn’t get him any heat. CMLL is the one who banned its workers from going to Naucalpan, seems LA Park is done with them, but Wagner still shows up anywhere he wants.
@xuisaw: The reason you see DirecTV ads in border towns is because people smuggle the receivers into Mexico. Just like people smuggle SKY receivers into the US. DirecTV’s US signal can be received as far south as Monterrey, and I know people there who have it because they want more American TV and hate SKY and Cablevision. I know a huge UFC fan in MTY and he follows it because he can get the shows on Direct.
Televisa can “ban” anyone they want from their network. They “bannned” CMLL for an entire week over a dispute over announcers a few weeks ago. In 1998, Televisa told CMLL that they would not televise talent that appeared on Azteca. This resulted in Azteca talent appearing on non-televised shows on Sunday at Coliseo, and some big gates too.
DirecTV ask for a 18 month contract, I doubt Mexicans would fit the bill for that. There are lots of DirecTV and Dish owners in Mexico, but they use pirated stuff and get it mostly for free, not paying to the companies at all.
1998 is a long way back, Televisa was producing the shows then, not anymore. Mistico has also been shown in Azteca’s several shows, although I guess they would not have him anymore in other Televisa shows like that Olympics stuff or the noonshows and novela on Channel 2, but Televisa won’t care for guys working on IWRG just like their soccer players (who are contracted by Televisa) show up in Azteca’s sports shows without any problem.
CMLL is the one who doesn’t want to help IWRG grow, and they have prohibited their guys working there on their own account. We never knew if the dispute with the announcers was in fact what prompted CMLL being out for a week, the Observer said that Paco was upset at being so far back from AAA in the ratings and wanted Televisa to help them with production and storylines, could have been that and not the announcers.
Upscale Mexicans will have no problem with paying DirecTV and their 18 month contract. People in Monterrey use a friends address in Pharr or McAllen, or their own address if they own property in South Texas.
Whatever happened between CMLL and Televisa may never be known. But it shows that no matter who produces the show(CMLL, MVS), Televisa, in the end, has the final word.
