AAA #841 (07/12)

taped 06/13, aired 07/12

Am I losing my mind, or was there a Michinoku Driver near fall in the Mari/Fabi match that got clipped out on TV? I could’ve sworn there was, and Mari really had limited offense from what was shown. Just head kicks galore, with Fabi seemingly controlling more of the match. I wasn’t expecting this, but I liked some of their matches leading up this than the TripleMania match itself.

This was the best Zorro vs Cibernetico match. Not saying much. In the same vein, this was the best Mexican Powers/FdT match, but that’s mostly because you had the Legion as well, and they were a lot better focused. No meandering pauses to set up pointless spots that are instantly forgettable, just a more all out sprint that works with these guys.

What else did we have? Vipers/tecnicos was just a usual match, as really was Sect/Air Force. Espiritu didn’t interfere as it seemed the night of the show – he was just like a normal manager.

Just in case you haven’t seen them yet, I ripped all the matches from this show, and will do the same with the next half.

CMLL (SUN) 07/20 Arena Coliseo [Ovaciones]
1) Sensei & Sombra de Plata b Artillero & Súper Colt
2) Metálico, Neutrón, Tigre Blanco b Arkangel de la Muerte, Loco Max, Nitro

4) Alex Koslov, Grey Shadow, Volador Jr. b Black Warrior, Olímpico, Sangre Azteca
5) Héctor Garza, Marco Corelone, Shocker b Heavy Metal, Lizmark Jr., Negro Casas

Lizmark Jr. pinned Marco using the ropes. Both are in the main event next week, so start dreaming about a Marco/Lizmark singles match.

Bam Bam got Pequeno Damian clean with a valagueza (his own move!) so the champ had no choice but to accept a title match for next week.

Warrior and Volador feuding in the semimian. Super Colt replaced Super Comando in the main event, but was not super enough for the win.

El Tiempo wrestles about lucha libre in Bogota, Colombia. The promotion was shut down four four years when their previous Coliseo shut down, but started running again five months ago and claim an average of 800 people per Saturday evening show. There’s an attached school, where students have to pay 20,000 pesos ($11.13US) per month to train.

No Abismo Negro.

Chessman was the surprise AAA entrant to the main event and won the whole thing. Cibernetico offered a handshake after the match, but Chessman wasn’t interested. Konnan and Head Hunter were the Legion surprise and the replacement for Zorro, in some order.

Ultimo Gladiador replaced Juvi, who’s probably still with NWE.

Looks like the AAA Minis deal is a regular tournament. They actually had these matchups in their web preview, but I didn’t realize they meant it.
