CMLL FSE #99 (07/06)

taped 06/22, aired 07/06

Again, not a lot of the tournament aired (though seemingly more than last week – I had to split it into a couple files) but there was some good spots in what did show up and the crowd was into it. Hopefully the title match is fun. Or was fun. I don’t know what tense to use.

Learning how to protect yourself on a dive gone well is something you don’t want to learn but it sure seems handy to know.

07/15 Ovaciones: Anniversary non-news, IWRG

I forgot the Ovaciones stories! I read that first thing in the morning, even before I start putting together my notes. This seems to be a mistake.

Anyway, Juan Manuel Mar is interviewed about the anniversary show. He says it’ll be either September 19th or September 26th, or possible both since the 75th Anniversary is so big. He says the main event might be an apuesta match between Niebla and Wagner, or Ultimo Guerrero and Wagner, or Ultimo Guerrero and Mistico, or Atlantis vs Blue Panther, or Villano V vs Blue Panther, or something completely different.

In other words, nothing you couldn’t guess yourself at this point. I’m only surprised Perro Aguayo and Negro Casas aren’t mention somewhere in here, but I don’t think any of this is meaningful.

IWRG AZTECA (SUN) 07/13 Arena Naucalpan [KrisZ, Ovaciones]
1) Destello & Jack b Anubis & Comando Gama
2) Avisman & Zatura b Judas el Traidor & Rockero del Diablo
3) Hijo del Solitario & Veneno b Multifacetico & Zatura
4) Fuerza Guerrera DQ Black Terry [IWRG IC WELTER]
5) Hijo del Cien Caras & Máscara Año 2000 b Rayo de Jalisco Jr. & Tinieblas Jr.

Veneno interfered in the title match for the DQ. They teased a mask/hair match there, and i nthe mian event (Rayo/MA2K).

07/15: way too much on the AAA website, Mistico to China

quick thoughts on the new AAA website.
– someone forget to make the RSS feeds stop pointing to their test server. OOPS.
– but having RSS feeds for videos and pictures is great, I just hope it all gets updated
– news article are great and all, but there really should be a place with results
– and a place with lineups; there’s one line about the Solidardad taping, zero about Queretaro and beyond
– nothing about the TV show either
– or a store
– or a list of current champions
– and there’s a fair amount of links not working as you think they should
– rosters pages are mostly the same text, but they took new photos, some of which are great
– it’d be much easier if the roster was all visible on one page; six at a time doesn’t work well with 100 people
– Make of it what you will: Abismo Negro has a profile, and it’s near the top of the stack. So does Latin Lover. So does Cassandro. So does Chucky, though no Monsther. So does Intocable, which means they just haven’t looked thru them all yet. (Perhaps it’d be easier if they were in alphabetical order.) The Vipers seem all represented.
– Kenzo Suzuki’s name is spelled Kenzo Suzuky, and they must be convinced that’s the correct way. Kevin gets a profile, which only alludes to a pre-Barrio Boy past. Jack Evans maestros do include Bryan Alvarez, so someone’s been reading wikipedia.
– Omissions I spotted: no Super AAA (though, and I don’t know why I would bring this up, but Mascara Divina is there), no Barrio Boy Ricky (truly a man of mystery) and none of the Psycho Circus.
– Not only is only one Mascarita Sagrada acknowledged, he’s also a man from the future!

CMLL’s Blog wonders who Mistico would rather not face next week – Perro or Wagner? He’s going to have a lot of flight time to think this thru: Sololuchas says he is headed to China from July 19 to the 25, back just in time for next Friday’s Leyenda de Plata final (jet lag is going to make that one fun.) Both Mistico and Averno are going back China from August 8 to the 16th for some lucha exhibtions. Averno’s coming back the 16th, but Mistico is sticking around for the Olympics from there. That means Mistico’s not going to be around much for the next stretch (just enough for the LdP match and a rematch the next week); adjust your predictions accordingly.

Caifan was got hurt on Sunday, might have about to be Brujo.

CMLL winning the X Cup made Notimex yesterday.

(Reforma via Jazzo) Metalico says people were very confused when Metalik started working there with a similiar name – friends thought he was working shows Metalik was working, family members were even confused. But now that’s all clearer – Metalico’s tattoos help – and Metalico’s teamed with Metalik a couple times, he thinks they may make a great team and may form a permanent alliance.

Victor recapped last Sunday’s FSE show.

Hablando de Catch has photos of the Atlantis 25th Anniversary subway exhibit. SoloLuchas has photos from Atlantis’ day, before the match, as well as an interview.

SoloLuchas interviews Semental, who says his biggest rival is Super Camaleon. Always like it when the guys who don’t even make pre-novato matches are feuding. They’ve also got an interview with Pepe Casas, who mentions he’s got two other grandsons wrestling besides Tigre & Puma: Bengala in Cuernavaca and Sendero Luminoso in DF.

CMLL’s Terra video feed has the main event trios match from two weeks ago 1 2 3 4

Luchas 2000 #428 has the LdP finalists, Demon vs Santo, Atlantis celebrating with hsi rivals, and Blue Panther celebrating with Tigre Universitario’s mask.

Box Y Lucha #2879 has Mistico and Hector with the belts.

A group in Monterrey is starting up as a early ROH clone. Like, everyone must shakes kinda thing. Will it draw? Does any small group in Monterrey actually draw, and does it matter?

A blog in Spain writes about Tiger Marino’s YouTube videos encouraging environmental protection. “He’s a real life Captian Planet”, which I think is supposed to be a compliment.

La Tarde profiles local wrestler El Pakto.

Desde Ringside is a new site dedicated to lucha libre in southeastern Mexico.

More info: 2008 AAA TV Chart

Chessman and Cibernetico are either really close to splitting up or completely done. They could not get along in this match, causing the loss and causing poor Vampiro to get beat up while they were too busy arguing after the match.

Jack seems to be the Zorro replacement of the moment. There’s a picture of Zorro watching the match from the steps of the stage and looking sad.

Big angle of the night was after the Vipers/Air Force match. Super Fly and Aerostar were having issues during the match, but they still beat the Vipers. After the match, the Legion ran in and destroyed Angel and Aerostar, but did not touch Super Fly. Super Fly didn’t help his friends, just stood aside watching. Super Fly’s been pondering joining the Legion for months now, and Konnan made the offer, but the AAA tecnicos rushed the ring to clear out the Legion. Super Fly appeared to spend a great deal of time trying to figure out which group he ought to be with, the Legion or AAA, and eventually was convinced by Prez Roldan to stick with AAA. I don’t think this bit is over.

The big non-angle of the night: all the Apaches are suddenly tecnicos, and the Morenos are all suddenly rudos. This doesn’t fit with Mari and Fabi facing off in a couple weeks, so I’m assuming they meant “for this one show” and just keep an eye on it. Reading AAA’s stuff again, I think the Morenos are still tecnicos but just teaming with whomever to get a shot at the Mixed Tag titles. The Apaches (not Billy) are all getting along, and Mari and Gran Apache were with the tecnicos who made the save for the Air Force, so they may actually be tecnicos. I’m not really sure on this.
