2008 AAA TV Chart

Lots of placekeeping trios. Stuff with surely happen, but nothing’s particularly obvious by the lineup.

AAA’s preview admits listing Zorro for the match makes no sense, since they just mentioned him as out for four weeks, but doesn’t have any idea who will substitute. Seems like it’s Konnan lately, though Electrshock could also show up.

The Vipers return, including Histeria, but no Abismo Negro as promised. Maybe he’ll turn up before the night ends, or maybe he meant Black Abyss.

Not so much for the run of minis matches I was expected. Alas. Not sure why Fabi is teaming up here, but perhaps they haven’t given up on the Apache/Morenos title feud yet.

According to World Stadiums, Lázaro Cárdenas is a 3,000 seat building.

CMLL FSE #97 (06/22)

taped 06/08

I so want to see Ohara vs Goku. Wait, have we seen them in the same place at the same time? HMMM. Then again, it’s sure not like Ohara to wear a mask…

Caifan wasn’t bad, but didn’t make a huge impression here. Axel is a far more interesting story than wrestler.

At this point in time, five days before the cage match, they sure weren’t even teasing a Negro rudo turn yet – they were more teasing a Damian/Negro battle, actually.

another CMLL sponsored show in Arena Mexico this week

CMLL (SAT) 07/12 Arena Mexico
2) Bam Bam, Mascarita Dorada, Tzuki vs Mr. Aguilita, Pequeño Damian 666, Pequeño Halloween
3) Alex Koslov, Loco Max, Valiente vs Diamante Negro, Sangre Azteca, Satánico
4) Dos Caras Jr., LA Park, Marco Corelone vs Atlantis, Olímpico, Último Guerrero
5) Averno, el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Mephisto vs Héctor Garza, La Sombra, Místico

Notimex has the news on this special show, sponsored by a (unspecified) bus line Autobuses Foráneos. This will ultimately be a five match show, though the opener is unmentioned in the article. (Stuka Jr. is listed as at the press conference, so that’s one.) Musical groups AK7 and Cumbia Zero will also perform.

Since nothing is actually going of any note on the show (the matches might be good but unlikely to air), the real story here is the much busier schedule than usual in CMLL’s main arenas.

TUESDAY: Arena Mexico
Wednesday: off
Thursday: Arena Mexico special (FRAM)
Friday: Arena Mexico
Saturday: Arena Mexico special
Sunday: Arena Coliseo

Not only must they have no fear about oversaturation of live events, they must be either being paid really good or not paying much to operate Arena Mexico for a show. It does help to own your main buildings.

Those Tuesday Arena Mexico shows were so pathetically attended during winter, and yet they’ve never moved them back to Arena Coliseo, so either it doesn’t take many people showing up for CMLL to make their money, or CMLL just doesn’t care about losing money on them.

Edit: another article, mostly talking about the bands

07/08: AAA notes

Is luchalibreaaa.com a new website for the company? Why do sites start with countdowns, anyway? Just put up the site if you have the site. Anyway, the domain is actually owned by Media Contacts, so it looks like AAA is outsourcing the web operation. This should mean something vastly better, but we’ll see in a week.

AAA President Joaquin Roldan was on TVC’s 3a Caida. A couple posts mention comments
Roldan complains about CMLL’s ethics. Sounds like CMLL was offering higher pay to AAA wrestlers who were still under AAA contact. Psicosis and Histeria are specifically mentioned. (Niebla’s previously been said that he wasn’t under contract.)

I guess the idea is CMLL’s offers has caused discontent in the AAA locker room, because it’s not really as though many AAA wrestlers have actually yet jumped to CMLL. Lots of people have been RUMORED to go to CMLL, but most of the people who’ve been confirmed as leaving AAA have gone to the indies (the women, Super Calo, apparently Intocable, etc.) Zumbido and Scorpio may end up in CMLL, but it’s been said so far that they went to CMLL looking for work, as have many others, and it hasn’t been CMLL going to these people. Maybe CMLL decided they really must have the Vipers and went after them differently than everyone else.

– Roldan also said Abismo Negro will be back next week (the Salamanca taping?) They’re saying Abismo had a neck injury (also what they said back at the TripleMania press conference) and family issues. No one is totally convinced it’ll be the same guy under the mask.

CMLL.com’s news section mentions the TNA guys coming on July 25. Same list as before (though they go 3 for 6 on correct spellings.) It’s confirmed the TNA crew will be on the same show as the Leyenda de Plata final, with Mistico facing the winner of Perro Jr. vs the winner of the second cibernetico.

(Notimex) Dr. Wagner Jr. wants it know that even though he’s ethically required to team with Hector Garza and Mistico, he totally hates them.. He’d like a mask match with Mistico or Mr. Niebla.

LuchandoLibre has Lucha Libre London video on their website.

A lucha libre character will be featured in a new Mastercard ad.

Ovaciones has a run down of today’s card (Diamante Negro in the semifinal), Friday’s card (Atlantis) and the IWRG action. Nothing new.

Edit: Arturo Rivera‘s column is up on their website, though not the newspaper.
