AAA shows back in the US in three weeks

Yea, for real. I too thought Dave was loco when he posted his own disbelieving note on the F4/WO site, but…

07/26, San Jose, HP Pavilion (tickets from $30 to $70)
07/27, LA Sports Arena (same prices)

Don’t ask me who’s on the show. I bet they don’t even know right now. I don’t know how well a show with no promotion three weeks out will do, especially since anything to hype on AAA TV would have to been aired in Mexico already, given the gap for US TV. This is all going to be a local promotion deal. Ticket prices seem high.

AAA is doing one taping a week lately, and they don’t have any taping yet scheduled for this week. If they can get the production crew there, one of these shows makes sense for a taping.

  1. I can’t wait to see how many tv spots they run in the US during AAA on Galavision each week.

Sure, they could buy local on Comcast and Time Warner and I won’t see it, but neither will the satellite customers, who make up a nice chunk of their viewership. So I’d buy national to promote these dates, meaning everyone should see the ads.

Well, the promoter doing the shows is no joke. They will spend $40,000 on local publicity for each date. They will probably lack the presense on Galavision broadcasts of that I would recommend, but believe me, every Mexican in those towns will know AAA is coming to town if Marquez is the promoter.

  3. This will be VERY interesting. Not only to see if anyone shows up at those prices but also to see what kind of a product they put out. Will it be a typical AAA show, a XPW/whatever that MTV fed was called show or a WWE style show.

I hope Bob sneaks a camera in.

  4. Those prices are not that much more than any WWE house show, or even a AAA taping. Still, I’d have a kids price or cheap $20 ticket for families, so you’re right Rob.

Oh, I’d also advertise in English on RAW on Comcast in San Jose and Time Warner in LA County. You’d be surprised how many of today’s fans would be open to trying AAA compared to when they first toured successfully in 1993-94. And you’d also be surprised how many Hispanics, regardless of language preference watch RAW.

  5. Remember Luchalibreusa.com? Well, when you go there, it redirects you to a new site with a lineup for the US tour, and info about the upcoming PPV.

Konnan bashers will find the lineup interesting.

  6. TBD?

I figure the AAA tour will run $300,000 in expenses for both dates.

  7. @USAUSA1: Oops, I forgot about Dave Marquez. No. The promoter is Gustavo Marquez, and he owns a huge dairy company out of San Jose, Cal. He makes a cheese called “El Mexicano”, and is also one of the three biggest Hispanic events promoters in the US. He does the events to cross-promote his dairy products.

  8. Konnan, El Zorro,Kenzo Suzuky -VS- Cibernetico, Chessman, La Parka

Super Porky, Octagon, TBD -VS- Mesias,Dark Ozz, Dark Cuervo

Super Fly, TBD, TBD, -VS- Scorpio Jr, Decnnis, Psicosis

Faby Apache, Pimpinela -VS- Mary Apache, TBD

Mascarita, Octagoncito -VS- Mini Charly, Mini Abismo

Doesn’t sound anything Konnanic at all. Besides the TBDs, they’ve got Scorpio to replace… hope it doesn’t turn out to be El Brazo… I would do this: Replace Konnan with Mesias on the main event, Elegido in the semis with the tecnicos vs Black Family. La Especial should have Black Abyss, Psicosis and Histeria. Team Mary Apache with her dad or Cassandro, and that’s it, oh, I forgot some tecnicos, Super Fly should team with Aerostar and I say Alebrije to give the team some more name value… That’s it, although I say it would need an extra match. Where are HF2 and the TJ guys? Maybe that “Konnan is fired from AAA” angle is not an angle… hehehe…

  9. @xuisaw: You lost me at replace Konnan in the main event. He still thinks he is a draw in the States. Not that I think he shouldn’t main event this show since he’d be the only name everyone recognizes.

  10. He’s in a lawsuit with TNA, which should prevent him from working or else he might end up having his money retained, he talked about that in a WO podcast…

  11. I don’t think Konnan is a big draw. But all the Mexicans I talk to still tell me what’s going on with AAA. That’s a good sign when people on the street can tell you what the angles are. Shows people are into the angles.

  12. After Roldan got his face smashed in A’Mania, they been heavily featured on the gossip shows with the Konnan fired angle, which has always driven up their business (as well as CMLL’s but they won’t admit it or have not realized it). It seems that AAAMania worked backwards, instead of tying up the angle, it started it and the level of AAA awareness is high right now…

Sure, we can complain about non wreslters being the center of the group, but, quite frankly, I think anyone, and I mean, ANYONE could jump to CMLL right now, except Roldan and Konnan…
