World X Cup Notes

I love ESTO dearly, because after carrying the story about UG and Rey getting their visas, they tried to talk to Averno and Volador to see if they had their documents. They couldn’t get a hold of them, sadly, but that’s the level of paranoia and distrust this TNA/CMLL relationship requires.

Let’s pretend this is actually going to happen for a second…

TNA announced the point system for the World X Cup
1 point for a singles win
2 points for a tag win
3 points for the team that wins their 12 man Cibernetico (except not called that) at the PPV
4 points for the person who wins their Ultimate X jungle gym match

If I were team captain Ultimo Guerrero (just assuming), I’d divide it up like so
– Ultimo and Rey in the tag match, naturally
– Averno in the singles match – he’s a TWO CROWN champion*, he’s good for this
– Volador in the Ultimate X match – he’d work good doing highly dangerous things
– Ultimo/Rey/Averno in the Cibernetico – which I want them to win more than anything else

* – they really need to have the whole crew bring their belts. Not only do you get the freakout when Averno is holding a NWA belt on a TNA show, but then someone has to explain why Ultimo Guerrero is the best-est despite the only one not having any gold.

  1. Esto also talks about Bucanero saying about Mr Niebla joining the team “will be an ace four of a kind hand”, so this should mean that Toscano, Olimpico and Sangre Azteca are gone… watch for them to jump to CMLL, whoops!!!

  2. the captain doesnt get to decide who wrestles what matches, TNA does. it’s Scott D’Amore that books this division, so he decides the matches. you would think we’ll see Ultimo/Rey, but knowing TNA i’m assuming we’ll be seeing Ultimo vs. Doug Williams and Rey/Averno vs. Milano/Ishikari with Volador probaly facing Curry Man, if they even give him a match before Ultimate X. those are the guys who have yet to have any actual tournament matches so expect some sort of combination of them at the upcoming taping.

  3. @Bruce: Yes, I know wrestling is fake. I’m just saying…

@xuisaw: Sangre’s more of a Jack, Olimpico’s about a 10. Eclipse was a 2. And the fans have let Toscano know plenty of times he’s a Queen.

  4. Yeah… so anyways…

I’m willing to bet that when the lineups are released tomorrow, the CMLL Tuesday show will have at least 2 of the 4 guys booked who are scheduled to be working TNA that same night.

In fact – 3 of 4. The main event will be Volador Jr. on one side and Bucanero/Guerrero on the other side.
